Part 5 We See You Again in the Future 19 Isolation
19 Isolation
By the end of the discussion, the five of them were exhausted, but they had no intention of sleeping or resting - they couldn't sleep even if they wanted to, so they began to "clean up" the building.
The first thing to be carried out of the building was the teacher's body, then some of the wooden furniture, which had to be split into several pieces to be transported out of the narrow window, and the rest of the unimportant furniture was left in the building, and the wood was piled up and prepared to be used as burning material to completely destroy everything in the building.
"These books and tools that are ahead of our time must be cleaned up!" Umi explains, "If someone discovers this place, these things, and books after we leave, and takes them back to study and use them, it will accelerate the process of 'development'." So, in the secret room behind the stone door, the books and utensils (including the "glass") that were ahead of their time were brought out and placed next to the pyre, to be burned before they left.
Daniel was still not involved in carrying things, but he was not going to be idle, and he always felt that he had to leave something behind...... So he picked up his paintbrush and painted four paintings on the wall of the secret room behind the stone door: "Rebirth", "Development", "Testing" and "Harvesting". He left the images he had seen about these four stages on the walls with a slight exaggeration and artistic processing.
"It's a good drawing," said Parra, who saw it, "and you're going to be a master storyteller." ”
"I just wanted to give a warning to those who come here......" Daniel said humbly, "and of course it's better that no one will see ......"
Umi, who happened to be passing by, heard this and ordered: "This kind of warning is of little significance, you two come out quickly, it is better to lock this door." Hurry up, it's best to get off before dawn! Daniel reluctantly glanced at the four vivid frescoes, and hurried out of the room with Para, and the three of them closed the stone door together. On the stone door, a wooden diamond-shaped ornament in a recess lies quietly.
"I'll take this, maybe ...... later," Daniel said again.
"It'll burn in a while, and these things are dangerous." Umi said solemnly, and Daniel didn't refute, just put the accessories in his pocket.
"Umi!" Albert's voice came, "What about that lever-filled device?" ”
"Just cut off all its levers with a sword! Do you need help? ”
"No need, I'll do it myself!" Albert flicked his sword. Umi took Para and Daniel around the other rooms, and the building was mostly emptied except for some old furniture. They then went straight up to the top floor and left the building.
On the other side, Albert stared at the device that controlled the dust and black shadows in a daze, the sword in his hand did not make any movement, perhaps hesitating, but more calm and thinking - "What if...... Is it the right thing not to destroy this? ”
……
"It's all ready, who's going to light the fire?" House held up the torch and asked Umi and the others, who had just come up, "What about Albert?" ”
"I asked him to dispose of that mechanism so that it wouldn't be used by anyone else."
"Yes, yes, it's right to ruin that thing!" House said indignantly, then looked at the pyre behind him—the teacher's body lay flat on it.
"Just light the fire, House." Umi said that his tone was decisive and cold, and it was obvious that he was going to end it all quickly. Without hesitation, House lit the fire. The wood quickly remembered the crackling sound, and the flames burned faster and more vigorously...... The teacher's body was engulfed in flames in an instant, and Umi, Parra, House, and Daniel all bowed to the fire.
As dawn approached, and the eastern sky was already glowing white, Albert finally stepped out of the building and nodded to Umi—it had been taken care of—as he pleased. Then he also saluted to the fire.
The five of them killed with their own hands the teacher who had taught them countless profound and wonderful knowledge, and they did not regret it, because they decided that it was the right thing to do!
While the fire was burning the remains, the five of them began to throw the books and utensils that did not belong to this era into the flames, including the magical "glass" and the books that recorded the technology that was ahead of the times......
However, an unexpected voice rang out—
"What are you doing?!"
This is Ryan Royer's roar.
Ryan's appearance was unexpected, but it was easy to imagine what was going on. Stunned by the narcotics, Ryan wakes up to find himself being taken away from the building by the servants and still on his way to the lighthouse. Believing that the other five had betrayed and abandoned him, he returned to the building despite all the obstacles of his servants, while the other servants continued on to the lighthouse as they had previously directed.
After a long night of traveling, Ryan finally arrived back in the wee hours of the morning, and the surprise of the basin being filled with sand made him forget his hunger and thirst and the eagerness to hurry, and then he saw Umi and the others bowing to the burning fire......
"What are you doing?!" Ryan asked like crazy, angry at the abandonment of his companions, but even more angry at the sight of books and utensils that were ahead of his time being thrown into the fire!
"Why burn them?!" Ryan continued to growl, "Aren't these all knowledge and wealth? We can totally make ourselves strong with these things! Make the planet strong! Finally, defeat the enemy and defeat the 'Curse of the Stars'! Don't you think so? Don't burn it anymore!! ”
Ryan's frantic rants didn't get any response, and the old Umi like an elder, the kind and gentle Para like an older sister, Daniel a brother, the dull but approachable House, and his brother Albert, who had a bad temper but cared for him—the five of them seemed to have reached a tacit understanding, and they reacted to him with blank faces, ignoring him, and even continuing to throw things into the fire when he was like air.
Ryan's heart froze, and he suddenly felt isolated.
"Why are you ignoring me?! Why? The teacher was killed by you, right? You're going to destroy these things, right? You-you don't burn anymore!! Angry, Ryan couldn't take it anymore and threw himself at Para, who was holding the book and throwing it into the fire, knocking her to the ground and scattering the book all over the ground. House and Umi, who were next to her, were startled and immediately grabbed Ryan, and Daniel quickly went to help Para up, but fortunately she was not injured.
However, Ryan is still trying to break free, Umi and House are no match for him in terms of physical strength, and he is about to cause even more chaos when he sees that he is strong-
"I'm coming!" Albert let out a loud cry and slammed a punch into his brother's face, knocking Ryan to the ground. Ryan felt a burning pain on his face, dizziness, fatigue and hunger from the night's journey, and the pain of isolation and betrayal in his heart—he fainted in a hurry.
……
In the previous six-person vote, Ryan was a member of the showdown with the teacher, and he was young and vigorous, but he lacked the fear of powerful forces, and even his mind was not yet mature and stable. The other five finally unanimously decided that young Ryan should not participate in the battle with the teacher, on the one hand, he did not want this young heart to suffer undue pain, but more importantly, he was protected. And at this time, ignoring him, the seemingly ruthless attitude also did not want to fuel his arrogance: in Lane's eyes, the five people did defeat the teacher, an existence they once thought was invincible, but among the factors that defeated the teacher, the element of luck was too great, and the five people knew this, and they really saw the horror of the teacher's strength, especially the weapons he controlled and the mysterious black shadows. They understand that the teacher is just an insignificant pawn in the power behind the "Curse of the Stars", and with their strength, they will never and will never actually defeat the "Curse of the Stars", and all they can do is try their best to avoid it from happening. And now, they have killed the teacher, the future is uncertain, the fate of the planet is unknown, and if Ryan continues to maintain such a radical, unyielding personality and approach, he will ultimately bring not a hopeful struggle, but a desperate destruction.
Valuable toys should not be given to young children; The fate of the planet cannot be handed over to immature young people. The five of them knew this, so they didn't want this young heart to be involved in contradictions and conflicts that didn't belong to him, so they chose to isolate.
……
When Ryan woke up, it was already dawn, and he was not lying on the scorching sand, but in the shady building. He got up and looked around, only to realize after a moment that he was on the top floor of the building, but when he looked out the window, he saw the completely filled sand.
"Awake?" Albert's voice rang out, and he had been guarding his brother by his side.
"You hit too hard." Ryan gritted his teeth and said, but at least he was much calmer than he was angry before, "What about them? ”
"I've been gone a long time ago, I'll stay with you, who made you my stupid brother?" Albert said, motioning for Ryan to pack his things and prepare to leave.
"What happened when I wasn't there?"
"We've killed the teacher, that's all."
"Then why destroy the books and tools here, aren't those good weapons? It is perfect to use against the enemies of the future harvest planet. ”
"There's no chance of winning!"
"But you defeated the teacher, and there were no casualties among the five of them!"
"I said: there is no chance of winning!"
"What the hell are you afraid of?!"
In the face of Ryan's roar, Albert still ignored him, and just as Ryan was about to roar again, he took out something and stuffed it into his brother's hand and gagged him-
"This is—" Ryan looked at the object in his hand and found that it was a book, the title of which was "The History of Small Arms", "Isn't this the one House reads......" Ryan asked in confusion, but Albert gestured for him not to ask, and handed over a burden to his brother—Ryan caught a glimpse of a few unburned books in the bag, which Albert had secretly kept.
"Why did you leave these books for me? Didn't you isolate me with them? Ryan asked, puzzled, he had thought all the books had been burned.
Albert snorted and said, "There's no why, I think it's the right thing to do, that's all." With that, he picked up another burden and signaled that his brother was on his way.
Ryan was a little confused, but fortunately, he was somewhat comforted to get a book that was ahead of his time. Hiding the book in his clothes and tying up his baggage, Ryan caught up with his brother, and the two began to rush to the lighthouse. On the way, Albert tells his brother about the current food shortage, and briefly explains how they fought the teacher, but he doesn't say a word about using "prophetic magic" to talk to the future.
The book "The History of the Development of Small Arms" was left in his room by House, and Albert secretly carried it into his arms when he was cleaning up, so that no one could find it, and naturally it was not burned. Also taking advantage of the chaos caused by Ryan's sudden appearance, Albert secretly kept a few books unburned...... Although he did not agree to let these books that were ahead of his time leak into the current world, he knew that his brother would be disappointed by this, perhaps because of his own character, or perhaps for his brother's sake, he kept these books. He was also responsible for destroying the device in the building, but instead of destroying it, Albert covered it with a cloth - in his opinion, this device might become a weapon to cause chaos, and maybe one day it would work, after all, the world is unpredictable, and it is the right thing to do.
Of course, there was one thing that was not destroyed, and that was the diamond-shaped wooden accessory that Daniel Dutved left behind, which he carefully kept and maintained regularly in the days that followed—he thought it was the right thing to do. Hundreds of years later, the accessory has not corrupted, it still retains its original form, and the stone door will be opened again.
The brothers Albert and Ryan also stepped on the stone path, saying goodbye to this place that had once made them yearn for, indulge, resent, regret, and reminisce, leaving only the top of the black building, standing alone in the desert—
- It's like telling a story about what happened here......
