Yang Nannan has entered Peking University, but Liu Zhilu has just entered his third year of high school. His grades were in the middle of the school at the time.

He was held back by English and mathematics, especially English. Although, when he was in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades of primary school, his grades suddenly rose to the top level. However, after entering junior high school, the subjects became more and more, especially the subject of English, and he immediately regressed.

When I was in elementary school, I had never been exposed to English. The primary school he attended was a primary school in a village and town, and there was no English class. If he had transferred immediately after moving to the county seat, he would have been able to get in touch with English courses earlier, but unfortunately he didn't transfer in the end.

At that time, the primary school subjects were only Chinese and mathematics, and if one more subject of English was added after the fourth grade, Liu Zhilu might still have the opportunity to have the energy to break through the breakthroughs, so as to establish confidence in learning English and master the learning methods of English. He won't be forced to take English class as soon as he reaches junior high school.

I can't understand, remember, or speak, which makes Liu Zhilu lose his confidence in learning English. Later, through the use of Chinese homophonic pronunciation, he mastered some simple words, but he always couldn't remember the longer words accurately.

Gradually, Liu Zhilu completely gave up learning English. He was luckiest to score 80 points in the English test, but most of the time he scored 50 or 60 points.

He was excellent in mathematics in the first year of junior high school, and geometry in the second year of junior high school was his specialty. But in the third year of junior high school, he was not good at studying mathematics. This may be related to the fact that he was found to be a carrier of hepatitis B Xiaosanyang virus during his physical examination in the second semester of his second year of junior high school. It was found that there was no big problem in the first place, but at that time, people there were also very taboo and full of discrimination against hepatitis B virus carriers.

Some local television media exaggerated the dangers of hepatitis B to human beings and falsely advertised the specific drug for the treatment of hepatitis B. Liu Zhilu asked Liu's father to buy those so-called special drugs and eat them indiscriminately, and he also took Chinese medicine or something. This led to some side effects, and some changes in his physical state.

His brain has become less good, his mind and behavior patterns have changed, and he has become very homely, and he doesn't like to socialize. His mode of thinking seems to have changed, he no longer likes math, but he is very enthusiastic about reading literature.

After graduating from junior high school, he began to read and collect Chinese and foreign classics. "Analects", "Journey to the West", "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", "Water Margin", "Dream of Red Mansions", "Home", "Siege", "Midnight", "Camel Xiangzi", "Thunderstorm", "Morning Flowers and Sunset", "Scream", "Stars. Autumn Water", "Talking about Beauty and Books", "The Goddess", "Robinson Crusoe", "How Steel is Made", "Notre Dame Cathedral", "Eugenie. Grande, The Old Man and the Sea, Selected Poems of Rabindranath Tagore, Childhood, Biography of Famous People, Goethe's Conversations, Resurrection, Hamlet, Don Quixote, Selected Poems of Pushkin, The Pickwick Papers, and Gulliver's Travels, these 30 books were the first books he read, and he would buy them back whenever he met them in the Xinhua bookstore in the county seat.

Liu Zhilu can't forget that afternoon, he went to his second uncle's house to visit his grandmother (his grandfather lived in his house, and his grandmother lived in his second uncle's house. His home is the second district of the county, and his second uncle's house is the third district of the county, and the two families are separated by 1.5 kilometers). On his way back, he passed by the Xinhua Bookstore (on the way he had to pass), and he felt that it was still early, so he entered the Xinhua Bookstore and took a casual look.

As he flipped through it, he came to Robinson Crusoe, and after reading a few pages, he was so hooked that he would come to the bookstore from time to time to continue reading. After reading the whole book, he found that there was a list of 30 Chinese and foreign classics that middle school students must read on the back of the book. So, he began his journey of collecting and reading.

Although this did not seem to help improve his academic performance, it made him develop the habit of reading and buying books, and it was this hobby and habit that finally led him to discover Yang Nannan's existence.
