Chapter Eighty-Three: This is also my job
The rest of the day was still busy.
Although Lawrence was not lightly injured, he was still able to perform some basic actions with the help of evil. After briefly cleaning up the mess in the police station, he found a coat to change into in the security room, and he continued to patrol the streets with Chu.
However, they did not encounter any incidents on this day, and most of the things they encountered were tragic things that had already passed.
People who died in the alleys, looted shops, bodies abandoned in the river.
No one can say exactly how much can happen in one night in the City of Fog, where the night is far more chaotic than the day.
Lawrence wanted to handle these cases, but it was impossible for him and Hatsu to take on so many cases at the same time.
They still have too few people, but this is the most difficult problem to solve, and no one wants to be a police officer in this hellish place.
But what if, they could be stopped before they happen.
On the way, Lawrence drove the police car and thoughtfully looked at Chu who was sitting in the passenger seat.
At first, I was a little uncomfortable with his strange eyes, and I had to bite my tongue when I ate a hamburger.
In the evening, Lawrence stopped by the hospital to dispense some medicine, and the hospital in the City of Fog always seemed to be busy, and by the time Lawrence and Chu returned to the rental house, it was already close to ten o'clock.
Pushing it away, Lawrence weakly pushed open the door, walked slowly to the side of the couch and lay down.
Although there seemed to be no wound on his back, it was only the effect of the first evil.
His wounds were still there, and he was in excruciating pain, and he was on the verge of losing them.
Lawrence pale and took off his coat, revealing his torn shirt and exposed back.
"Whew. He gasped, put the medicine in his hand on the table, and said to Chu.
"Chu, if you can, help me get some medicine. โ
"Hmm. Chu answered, walked over to Lawrence's side, and picked up the medicine on the table.
She reached out and touched Lawrence's back, and a black substance appeared on the skin of Lawrence's back, which gradually began to fall off.
As the black substance fell off, the wound on Lawrence's back was revealed.
There was rolled up flesh everywhere, mixed with a little burnt black, and although it didn't hurt the internal organs, it wasn't a minor injury of this magnitude.
"Just take the medicine out and apply it to the wound. Lawrence guessed that he might not use the drugs of this era at first, and explained out loud.
"Hmm. Chu lowered his eyes and opened the medicine bottle.
Inside the vial was a paste-like drug, which he had taken with his fingers and slowly applied it to Lawrence's wound.
While applying medicine, Chu said.
"I'm sorry Lawrence, but I was derelict in my duties. โ
As an emissary, she should never have hurt the summoner.
Lawrence lay on the couch, enduring the pain in his back. Hearing Chu's words, he raised his head and said.
"You've done a good job, this time it's my own problem. โ
He wasn't trying to be relieved at the beginning, the injury was really his own problem.
He had been idle in the city for so long that he had no sense of the crisis.
There should have been more and better ways to deal with this morning's affairs. But his attention was so focused on the bomb that he didn't think much about it.
"In the beginning, sometimes you don't have to put all the blame on yourself. โ
Looking at the floor of the room, Lawrence said suddenly.
Hatsu's hand stopped, and Lawrence continued.
"You can give some responsibility to others, after all, I'm also your summoner, haven't I'm not used to the point where I have to let others take responsibility for my injuries. โ
Delegating responsibility to others, I didn't know how to do it.
She didn't respond to Lawrence's words and silently rubbed him with the medicine.
Lawrence didn't continue, closing his eyes. In his opinion, as a so-called messenger, Chu is indeed incompetent.
She seems to be too gentle, meekness is weakness, such a person cannot face sin.
But this time it was Lawrence who was wrong.
Because if the demand is to bear the sins of all people, but those who have a little selfishness will choose to betray.
Chu was the chosen one, the one chosen as a messenger, not because of anything else, but because she was the one who was most likely to walk the path alone.
She's strong enough to be chosen.

After the drug, Hatsu put evil back on Lawrence's back, which was much better than a bandage or something.
Lawrence stood on the balcony and smoked, and the smoke was blown out of the window by the wind so that the smell of smoke would not stay in the room, after all, he didn't like it at first.
Chu was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed and watching TV, which Lawrence turned on to relieve her boredom, but she didn't expect that she seemed to like watching it quite a lot.
There is a movie on TV, called The Godfather, and Lawrence used to like this movie very much, even if he has watched it many times, and the plot is basically memorized.
How to say it, this is a helpless movie, but it makes it have a unique romance.
At this time, Chu happened to see the plot of the new godfather avenging the old godfather, and opened his mouth slightly, watching it fascinatingly.
Although he was embarrassed to disturb Hatsu, Lawrence still turned back with his cigarette and said.
"At first, I had one thing I wanted you to do. โ
"Hmm. In front of the TV, Chu's body paused for a moment, then she turned around and asked with a straight face.
"Who are we going to give a reason not to refuse?"
Give the other party a reason not to refuse, this is a classic line in the movie Godfather.
Lawrence's hand holding the cigarette trembled, and a cross erupted on his forehead.
"I'm talking to you about business, a little sober up a little. โ
Taking a hard puff of his cigarette to calm himself down, Lawrence said in a deep voice.
"The city needs a night watchman, and if you can, I want you to do it. โ
Lawrence knew that he and early daylight patrols alone would hardly do anything to the city, and that the night in the City of Fog was the most chaotic time.
So he had a plan to have a night watchman in the city to prevent those crimes from appearing in advance.
Chu's ability is very strong, and this should be something that only she can do.
As for the night watchman, this is not a duty that exists in a law enforcement system, it is a private matter. That is, it is something outside the law.
No normal cop would do such a thing, but Lawrence is not a normal cop.
"Night's watch?" didn't quite understand the meaning of the word at first.
"Whew. Lawrence exhaled the smoke from his mouth and explained.
"That is, you will be responsible for being on duty at night in the future. โ
He looked at Hatsu with those pale blue eyes.
"If you see someone committing a crime, just kill them. โ
Kill it directly, Lawrence was not prepared to use such an absolute word. But he was afraid that he would be soft at first, so it was better to say it directly.
Anyway, the city doesn't need those scum.
"Murder?" asked Hatsu, looking at Lawrence.
"Yes. Lawrence stood by the window and nodded, wisps of smoke wafting from his fingertips.
He flicked the ashes of his cigarette and, as he said, he did whatever it took to do so.
"So. Chu bowed his head and accepted the order.
"I will obey your commands, summoner. โ
