Chapter 9: Prototypes
In this way, although confused, Richard remained in this place as ordered. He was guided by spirits to find his own room.
The opportunity to be taught by a legendary wizard is more precious to wizards than any treasure. What's more, unlike the other four wizard leaders in the Magic Tower, Rasputin has never had a student, and if the other wizards in the tower heard about it, they would probably feel envious or even jealous of themselves.
But Richard didn't think so. Rather than being happy about this, he was more nervous and uneasy in his heart. Raspuchin said he "believed he could master it in three days," but ...... What if it doesn't work? He had no confidence in his abilities, and he hadn't learned a spell so far, because his magic level was simply not enough to support himself to try.
Thinking of this, Richard couldn't help but sigh. He saw an oil lamp on the table, snapped his fingers, and a small flame froze, and the dim room was gradually dimmed by a yellowish light. This is known as "juggling", and he can light candles or stacked leaves, but cannot create a flame out of thin air, which is a far cry from real spells.
The spirit that followed him passed through his body—though he didn't feel any discomfort, but Richard shuddered at the sight of pale blue limbs emerging from his flesh and blood—and the other came to the table and gestured to him silently. He looked there and saw scrolls and books on them.
That's all about that spell. Although he was a little apprehensive, he sat down and opened the book. Since he has no confidence in himself, he can only start to study from the moment. The glowing figure floating in the air bowed to him and disappeared outside the door.

Three days have passed. During this time, through studying the contents of the books, Richard realized that many of his former beliefs about wizards were incorrect.
For example, a wizard's ability is closely related to the level of magic, but the latter is not a sufficient condition. The assessment of determining the wizard's rank may seem simple, as long as you can cast a spell that reaches this level, but it does not mean that as long as the magic power is met, you can successfully cast a spell. In addition to magic, there is another necessary condition for mastering a spell: the "prototype" of the spell.
The so-called archetype is made up of a complex series of symbols, figures, and numbers, including information about the internal structure of the spell, and the trajectory and rate of how the magic element works in it. The archetype cannot be recorded through language and writing, because it is constantly changing, and it can only be grasped by deriving the laws in between.
This is why knowledge is so important to wizards, who must learn to apply the experience of their predecessors and derive their own archetypes from fixed spells.
There are two proverbs in the wizarding world, one is that "there are no two identical archetypes" and the other is that "one cannot construct the same archetype twice", which illustrates the essence of this.
The spells that Raspuchin taught him were only part of a large ritual spell and did not require much magic. It's just that deriving the prototype itself is still a new experience for Richard. With no one to teach, it was difficult at first.
But he was soon surprised to find that his knowledge from his previous life came in handy, especially in mathematics, where the method of deriving prototypes through spells was similar to analytic equations. Richard sometimes felt that the work of wizards was somewhat similar to that of scientists or academics on Earth, especially in their research methods and spirit of inquiry.
He often heard the phrase "search for the truth" on the lips of wizards, and it was not unfounded.
Actually, there is a basic knowledge about archetypes, which is the basic knowledge of the apprentices, but no one has ever taught him. Through this part of the study, some of the puzzles of the past are solved: for example, why tricks such as lighting candles are not considered real spells, precisely because they do not need to be prototyped to be unleashed.
Late at night on the third day, when he completely immersed his consciousness in the sea of stars during his meditation, the apprentice saw the prototype reflected in his heart for the first time. He kept it firmly in his mind, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment in his heart.
The most basic spell archetypes are only composed of simple irregularly changing symbols, and the complexity of the archetypes will increase geometrically as the rank increases.
For example, a good official wizard can master dozens or even hundreds of spells of the same rank, but when it comes to the most profound legendary stage, even those famous great wizards recorded in history will generally not master more than two or three legendary spells. Of course, the above are all things that Richard can't imagine now, and they are too far away from him.
Regardless, he managed to learn the spell in three days, completing the task given to him by the great leader of the Magic Tower.
Early in the morning of the fourth day, Richard opened his eyes. After three days of almost sleepless study, he lay down in bed and fell into a deep sleep shortly after completing the prototype. When he woke up, he was refreshed, and as soon as he was about to get out of bed and put on his shoes, his movements stiffened in place. The cause was the silhouette of a faintly glowing human body standing next to a pillow.
"I hope the next time I show up, I can give a ...... first"
Richard couldn't help but smile wryly. Naturally, the other party did not respond.
He knew the purpose of the spirit's coming, so he made up his mind and made sure that his state was okay before he spoke.
"Take me there."

He returned to the hall filled with a sea of spirits, where he saw Novich Rasputin for the first time.
The wizard leader, dressed in black robes, armed with a snake staff, and wearing a silver-white mask on his face, stood in gloomy silence in the center of the hall. Richard had long heard that the legendary wizard of the psychic realm was a secretist, but he didn't expect him to even be seen.
