Chapter 57: The Stone Path to the Sinkhole
I couldn't believe my eyes, I couldn't believe what was happening, I even wondered if I was still in a nightmare and didn't wake up, because the sight was so terrible.
It was a small cave, a little larger than the one I had spent the night in, densely covered with knee-high stalactites, with a flat field in the middle, surrounded by a circle of terraced terraces that looked like Yuanyang, all the way up to the end of the cave.
As far as the eye can see, the entire cave is full of white flowers and flowers, and it is full of white bones and skeletons. Whether it is the flat ground in the center of the cave, or the cascading circular corridor, or the potholes of different sizes on the cave wall, they are all piled with white bones. About sixty percent of these bones are human bones, and the rest are bones of all kinds of birds and animals.
The impact of this scene in front of me was too great for me, I froze on the edge of the cave, and the hand holding up the vine froze completely, and it took a long time for me to come back to my senses from the white bones full of holes, and the horror in my heart had reached the point where I could not repeat it.
Oh my God! What kind of place is this, how can there be so many bones, how many people and animals have to die to accumulate this cave full of bones, what kind of cave is this, this is clearly hell!
After coming back to my senses, my first reaction was to run away, far away from this hellish place, subconsciously I wanted to flee to a place where there was light, and the light behind the vines naturally became my goal. But just as I was about to rush out, I froze again.
The foot hanging in the air was almost about to be stepped on, and if it weren't for the vines hanging from the mountain wall in my hand, my foot would have been stepped on, and if I did, then my little life would have ended here.
I saw that behind the vines was the sinkhole, but I didn't expect to get into the crack in the stone and go around such a big circle, and finally returned to the edge of the sinkhole.
Fortunately, there is no such deadly gray fog here, otherwise I wouldn't have to run away, just wait for death. I knew that I must have reached the lower end of the sinkhole by now, and the fog that had gathered in the sinkhole had dissipated by this time, otherwise the light above would not have been able to shine down with such a thick fog.
There was no fog, the scene in the sinkhole suddenly became much clearer, and when I looked over from my side, I saw that there were also many caves on the wall of the sinkhole opposite, some of which were covered by falling vines, and some were clearly displayed, and even the white inside could be faintly seen.
I was taken aback again, and said to myself, could it be that there are white bones in all the caves on the walls of the sinkhole? Damn, if that's the case, it's terrifying, the bones I'm in this cave alone already terrify me, and if all caves have them, it would be terrible.
Despite my extreme reluctance, I slowly walked in with the fear in my heart, and by the light that came in, I could vaguely see the general situation in the cave. Even though I've seen it once, I still can't control the shivering of my body, the dense bones are piled on the ground like a pile of garbage, and they are covered with a thick layer, due to the age and exposure to the air, these bones have a certain degree of decay, so the texture is very brittle, and it can't withstand the pressure.
There was a large pit in the middle of the pile of bones, and the bones in it were basically crushed to pieces, which was caused by the fall I had just fallen from above. Thinking that I was still touching around with my hands just now, I felt a wave of nausea in my heart, and subconsciously wiped my hands.
There was no place for the dry bones all over the ground, and although I didn't want to step on them, I couldn't get in without stepping on them, so I silently said sorry in my heart, and then walked in trembling.
The deep cave I had just fallen in was pitch black, and for fear that the gray mist would chase me down, I stared at it for a long time, but found nothing unusual, and then withdrew my gaze and continued to look at the situation in the cave. The situation in the cave is clear at a glance, there is no place to explore carefully, the only thing that is a little strange is the potholes on the cave wall, not that the potholes are strange, but the corpses in the potholes are a little strange.
Archaeological excavations of many Buddhist caves have appeared in the stone Buddha, especially some in situ carved on the stone wall of the statue, generally the Buddha statue carved will be carved around a certain range of deep pits, in order to set off the solemnity of the Buddha statue, from a distance, as if the stone Buddha sitting in the stone wall in the pit general. That's what I'm seeing right now, except that instead of a Buddha statue in the pit, it's a corpse.
That doesn't make these corpses special, and I find them strange because the corpses in these pits are different from others. The corpses on the central flat ground and the stone corridor in the grotto are all broken bones piled up indiscriminately, and the clothes have long been decayed into ashes, and they can't be seen at all, but there is only one corpse in the stone pit, and it is a dried corpse whose flesh and blood have not yet turned into ashes, and even the clothes have not been completely damaged, obviously, these corpses have just died.
The reason why I can see at a glance that these corpses are special is not because I have observed them carefully, but because the appearance of these dried corpses is so hideous, although I am puzzled, I will not be too big to step forward and take a closer look. The dry bones that were originally full of holes were enough to make me chill, and with these dried corpses that were not rotten, I didn't dare to stay here.
At this point, I just want to find a way out and get out quickly, but luckily it's daytime, and if I stay in this kind of cave full of bones at night, I'm sure I'll be scared to death if I can't hold on for a second. I followed the white bone cave to find a circle, nothing was found, I was anxious, looked up at the top of my head, wanted to see if there was a way to climb to the stone road above, since the gray fog did not chase down, maybe it had already dispersed, there was no way out of this bone cave in front of me, if you want to leave, you can only return the same way.
It's a pity that there is no light at all in the upper place, I remembered my mobile phone and hurriedly looked around, but the light in the bone cave was insufficient, and the sight was not good.
I walked to the side of the vine and tied all the vines blocking the light to the stalactites on the side, but I didn't expect that after the thick vines were pulled apart, I actually found a one-foot-wide bluestone path behind the vines, and there were traces of artificial excavation, which was opened on the wall of the sinkhole.
At the same time, I am happy that there are traces of man-made excavation in this stone road, and there are signs of artificial piling of stones in the cave where I spent the night before, indicating that someone has really been to this place, if this is the case, maybe there are other roads leading to the ground, if I can find it, I don't have to risk climbing the sinkhole.
Unfortunately, the stone path is spiraling downwards, and although there are stone paths on my left and right sides, a large section of the stone path going up on the right side is broken, and I can only climb up to it, which is impossible to do on this slippery mountain wall covered with moss. The stone path on the left, although intact, leads to the bottom of the sinkhole.
At this time, I can't care so much, as long as I can get out of this terrible place, even if I go down, it's nothing, and my original goal is the bottom of the sinkhole.
Clearing the vines, the light in the bone cave suddenly brightened a lot, and with the light, I found the phone in a gray skull, and said goodbye, only then did I take out the phone and find that it had been turned off. My heart tightened, this was my only light source, and if I broke it, it would be terrible if I encountered a place where there was no light at all.
Fortunately, when I tried to reboot the machine, it was turned on smoothly, I breathed a sigh of relief, took another look at this hellish bone cave, and was about to leave, when I suddenly moved in my heart, took out my backpack and took out the camera I carried with me to take pictures of all the scenes inside the bone cave. Although I have only worked for less than a year, this has become my occupational disease, and I didn't forget to bring my camera before entering the mountain, and now I just use it.
In addition to the bone cave, there are many things worth recording in the sinkhole, last night because it was completely dark, so I didn't expect to take pictures of these things at all, and now I found the stone road, just had the time and opportunity to record all this, so I simply hung the camera directly on my chest, and then stepped on the stone road to continue to move forward.
