Chapter 6 A Strange Diary
The next morning, Bella woke up early.
Although Elena's room for the two sisters was very comfortable, Bella never slept soundly in an unfamiliar environment.
When she was in Valdraz Castle before, she slept relatively lightly. Therefore, at that time, there was a slight movement downstairs, and she woke up quickly.
This may have something to do with Bella's personality, although she knew that safety was guaranteed in the Medici mansion, but it was not so easy to let her guard down.
In particular, on the first day of coming here, an unexpected incident occurred.
Although she and Miss Sophia have never known each other, watching life pass away before your eyes always makes people feel that the world is too short.
On the other hand, Anna next to her slept soundly.
An innocent little face, with a few traces of saliva at the corners of his mouth.
Perhaps it was because of being by her sister's side that she was able to fall asleep so relaxed.
Belle stretched out her right hand and gently pinched her sister's nose.
Anna subconsciously shook her head, shook off Bella's hand, and then licked her lips with a "chirp" twice.
Seeing her sister's cute reaction, Bella smiled with relief.
Before the sun had even risen, the Medici were already busy.
As soon as the Carlos sisters got up, the maid came to clean up.
When she had freshened up and walked out of the room, Elena rushed over and gave her a morning hug.
It seems that all people have the habit of waking up early, thanks to the good upbringing of the family.
Breakfast is served in the main hall as usual.
Mr. Cosimo was already sitting at the table enjoying his meal.
He was going to the Palazzo della Signoria for a meeting in a moment.
Looking at Mr. Cosimo's complexion, he seems to be in a good mood. I don't know if it's because the relationship with my daughter was eased last night, and today I look a few years younger.
Elena, as always, did not say much in front of her father.
The seat next to it was vacant, and Mr. Lorenzo was not seen.
Bella could probably guess what was going on, so she didn't ask much.
It was only after Mr. Cosimo had left that Elena began to make noise.
After breakfast, the three of them went to Sophia's bedroom.
Yesterday was in a hurry, and Bella hadn't had time to take a closer look at the room.
Although Sophia is a servant, this bedroom does not look shabby, and the size is not much smaller than Elena's boudoir.
There are all kinds of daily necessities, as well as books and toiletries.
"Sophia has read, so she is very much appreciated by her father." Elena explains, "She will take care of a lot of the delicate work in the house. Accompanying my brother and me to study is her main job."
Perhaps it is precisely because of this that she was able to get along with Lorenzo day and night, and then develop love.
Sophia's room is indeed very bookish.
On the table is a hardcover book of poems, next to which are several pages of hand-copied poems.
When Sophia was found yesterday, she was lying on this table, her quill in her hand dumped on the paper.
Bella picked up the book of poems and flipped through it, but she didn't find anything special.
The manuscripts on the table, mostly some love poems. However, Sophia's handwriting is very delicate and should have been well educated.
If you don't know her identity, you think it's the handwriting of a noble lady.
Alina opened the drawer and found a wooden box.
There are some small things in it.
"It's ......," Elena muttered to herself, "Aegean promise."
Yesterday Bella listened to her introduction in the store, and it is a best-selling perfume style recently.
"I remember this batch number, my brother asked me for it before." Elena nodded, "It seems that all the gifts here are from her brother."
However, the air in this room does not smell very strong of perfume. It doesn't seem like she's a person who likes to dress up.
Perhaps, because it is a beloved thing, it is even more reluctant to use it, right?
"Mr. Lorenzo has a deep affection for Miss Sophia!" Bella sighed.
"Alas, it's a pity......" Elena stopped talking.
Bella understood what she was trying to say.
Listening to Elena's description yesterday, Sofia and Lorenzo fell in love, and if it wasn't for Mr. Cosimo's obstruction, the two would have been married.
It's just that the two should be considered to have been in love for a long time, and they can be called childhood sweethearts, and it is said that if you send perfume, four-leaf roses should be more suitable.
However, Monsieur Lorenzo chose the more precious Aegean promise.
The so-called Aegean Promise, a lifelong vow, is generally only seen at weddings.
It's not just a matter of the value of the object, but the meaning it contains, and Sophia has been in the Medici house for so long to be unaware.
Could it be that the relationship between the two has progressed to the point of talking about marriage? Or to guess more simply, Lorenzo has already proposed to Sofia?
Bella told Elena her reasoning.
"If that's the case." Bella concluded, "Miss Sophia should have no reason to kill herself. Even if Mr. Cosimo tried to obstruct her, she wouldn't back down."
It takes courage to commit suicide, and it takes courage to try to live in pursuit of happiness.
In any case, Sophia does not look like a fragile person.
It seems that things are not as simple as that.
Bella noticed that there was still a notebook in the drawer and picked it up.
"Looks like it's Miss Sophia's diary." Bella flipped through and said.
The text inside is as neat and beautiful as the manuscript on the table.
Bella felt that it didn't seem good to peek into the diary of the deceased without permission, but there were no other clues.
So I roughly flipped through it.
At a certain point, Bella's hand suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Elena asked.
"Look," Bella said, "isn't this page a little strange?"
"Huh?" Elena leaned in, "What's written on it?"
"It's not the contents of the diary, it's ...... You see it this way." Bella gently closed the notebook, then laid it flat, motioning for Elena to look down from the top, "Isn't it a bit of a drum?"
"Looks like so." Elena blinked.
"This state will not be caused by normal closing, it should be something caught in it before."
"Caught something?"
"Well, maybe it's an epistle or something."
"Could it be my brother's love letter?" Elena speculated.
"Possibly."
"Where did the love letters go?"
"I don't know."
Since it is sandwiched in a diary, it must be something very important and does not want to be seen by others.
If it was Lorenzo's love letter to her, it would be in line with it. But why did it disappear?
Whether it's suicide, homicide, or accident, there's no reason for thatโ
Wait a minute!
If he kills, the murderer can take it. If this is the case, what was taken away must be a very crucial clue.
In this way, everything makes sense.
All that remains is to find out who is the killer and the motive for the crime, if it was really a homicide.
However, it is still necessary to wait for the results of Leonardo's test to be able to verify further.
In the absence of evidence, Bella never makes presumptuous assertions.
"Miss." Just then, Miriam suddenly walked in.
"What's that?" Elena asked.
"Please come to the workshop. Yesterday Mr. Leonardo asked for something, something went wrong."
