Chapter 14: The Choice
"Your name?"
Green greeted softly with a smile on his face.
"Varda, just call me Varda." Varda smiled humbly and put his status very low.
"Okay, Varda, I'd like to find a place to rest for a while now, and if I have something to eat?"
Green took a deep breath, waved his hand and sighed helplessly.
"No problem, I'll arrange it for you right away."
"How's the Red Rose Bar?"
Varda asked in the other's ear, but when he noticed that Green's eyebrows furrowed slightly, he glanced at the other person's age again.
"Well, a kid of a few years old..."
"Varda, what the hell are you doing?!"
Varda wailed inwardly, and just as his face was looking desperate, Green pointed to a small fruit shop down the street and looked up at Varda and proposed.
"There it is."
After saying that, regardless of Varda's objections, he walked straight over there.
The fruit shop was run by an elderly couple, and by the gate stood a girl in a brown linen dress, who looked at Green with fear and curiosity on her face.
She could see how powerful a child who could be her younger brother at this age had...
I didn't see that Mr. Varda, who had always been fierce and domineering, and who exploited the people by any of his subordinates, was standing there with a look of fear, not daring to speak radically.
"A cookie, two mango pies, an apple."
Green glanced at the information on the sign of the preserved fruit, and took out the only remaining copper coins from his thick backpack and handed them to the other party.
"Sir, you've given too much."
When Green flipped through her purse, the old woman pressed her daughter to prevent her from seeing her, for fear of causing her displeasure.
When she saw the copper coin handed over by the other party, she pointed to the price of things on the shelf and spoke.
After hearing the other party's answer, Green looked up at the sign again.
"Cookies 10 francs, mango pie 20 francs, apples 50 francs."
It is also worth mentioning that a copper coin is equivalent to 500 francs, which is a lot of money in the eyes of the poor.
"But I don't have any change."
Green pointed to the large pile of gold and silver coins in his backpack, and the masonry gold chain was a little distressed.
The old woman didn't dare to look at the other party's wallet, for fear of drawing out the gluttony in her heart.
She swallowed and foamed, a little hard, and shouted with a bitter look in her eyes.
"Then I'm sorry, sir, we can't do your business."
"Why?"
Green's brow furrowed, a little strange, his first instinct was to get the money back to himself.
However, when he saw the situation in the fruit shop, he realized the reason, the old woman could not find so much money, and the contents of the shop were not enough for a copper coin.
How ironic...
Green was silent, he had been living in the earl, he had eaten and drunk without worry, he had never lived a hard life, how could he understand the difficulties of the poor?
When he looked at the shops not far away, he noticed that most of them were like this.
It is only enough to keep the store from closing, but when it encounters a large order, it can only refuse.
You must know that after taking this money, the old woman's family will not have to worry about those cumbersome taxes for a long time.
Green did not speak, but walked slowly to the old woman, who glanced at the trembling woman, and spoke in as gentle a voice as possible.
"Ma'am, don't be afraid, I'm Ophitol, Danson Thor, rest assured, I won't eat you for nothing."
As he spoke, he looked at the little girl hiding behind the woman, and found that the other party was looking at him curiously.
He beckoned to the other and motioned for them to come over.
Looking at the little boy in front of her, who was only up to her chest, the girl pulled the corners a little crampedly.
As long as there is no one in this town who does not know the name.
Unlike the violence, executioners, and iron-blooded propaganda outside, Danson Thor is still very close to the people, and every year he distributes a certain amount of food for free to those who are suffering.
Passing bards would sing the praises of his merits, and only those who were vile and secretly engaged in intrigue would discredit the esteemed Mr. Dansentor.
And now, his son is standing in front of him.
Although the other party was very short, because not long after coming out of the thorn forest, his body was a little dirty and looked a little embarrassed, but the girl did not look down on the other party at all.
"Extra money, I want to exchange something from your shop, do you have any recommendations?"
When the little girl heard this, she immediately delighted and took out the uncommon but precious things from the inner room, and took them all out.
Although it looks a little old, the surface of the object is polished.
Green was slightly stunned, when he was going to pick something in the store casually, he was interested because of the little girl's baby appearance.
He looked at the objects on the wooden table.
The first is a bronze statue of a bronze mask with a dagger placed on a table.
As for the last one, it was a turquoise copper ball that occasionally glowed faintly.
Green wanted to pick up the bronze statue, but found that the thing was very heavy, but I thought that the little girl was very relaxed when she took the bronze statue just now...
There are quirky ...
Quietly, Green put the bronze statue aside and looked at the dagger.
Due to the time, there were traces of patina on it, and after it took a little effort for Green to remove them, he found that the surface of the blade was smeared with a patch of blood red.
Somewhat similar to a prop to ward off evil spirits, Green quickly judged the purpose of this thing and lost interest.
When he looked at the copper ball, he noticed that Zero, hidden in his body, suddenly appeared beside him.
He shouted at Green with a wistful expression.
"Give it to me."
Green had never seen the other party so excited, and with a puzzled look on his face, he picked up the copper ball and handed it to him.
Everyone saw that the copper ball disappeared directly in Aophe's hands, and they didn't know where it went...
The old woman trembled and thought that this Highness Aoye would be angry, but she didn't hear the other party's scolding for a long time, and when she looked up again, she heard Green say.
"I want this thing."
"Also, I'd like to ask where you got this bronze statue from?"
Green frowned, and looked at the old woman and asked.
"This is handed down by my ancestors, and I have never been willing to lose it."
The little girl whispered, and when she saw Green's gaze on her, she blushed and lowered her head.
"From the ancestors... It must be something of age. β
Green touched his chin and thought.
His intuition told him that this thing was not simple.
He hesitated for a moment, then looked at the old woman and asked.
"Will you sell it to me?"
"Yes, of course."
The old woman smiled, not only because of the money, but more importantly because the other party was the son of Danson Thor, and besides, the other party had always behaved politely, unlike those scoundrels on the street.
Hell, how can I confuse Venerable Highness Aufe with those bed bugs?
O God, forgive me for my sins.
The old woman prayed silently in her heart.
"Well, how about exchanging this silver coin?"
Grimm thought about it again and again, but did not give the other party a large sum of money.
Otherwise, the next time I come to hear the news that the family was robbed at night.
"This, too much..."
The old woman's face was a little frightened, and she didn't take it.
"What, not enough?" Green gave an exaggerated expression, then smiled, and swore an oath to the pedestrians on the street, Varda, who was not far from the door.
"I, Ofitor is willing to complete the deal with this lady, and if there is a problem in the future, I, my father, and my family will hold the troublemaker accountable, and I will not die."
This sentence completely relieved the old woman, although her face was still a little worried, but there was a deep joy in her eyes.
I finally got through it, and I don't have to worry about it every day and every night.
Green put away the strange bronze statue, intending to study it when no one was around, and his intuition told him that the bronze statue was hiding secrets.
After completing the transaction, Green did not leave, but found a table in the store and sat down quietly and waited for the old woman to get busy.
About five or six minutes later, a steaming plate of cookies was handed to the table, and Green tasted a piece and found it crispy and fragrant.
When he felt a little thirsty and habitually wanted to drink milk, he realized that this was no longer the City Lord's Mansion.
He raised his hand and asked, "Can you give me a glass of water?" Thank you. β
"I'm sorry, Your Highness Aoife, but I didn't entertain you well."
The old woman hurriedly apologized, and the girl poured a glass of juice with a nervous expression.
Seeing the other party's distressed and eager look, Green smiled: "You drink." β
As he spoke, he handed the juice to the little girl.
Not far away, Varda immediately sent someone to "procure" some food and fruit water when Green was preparing to eat, and when he saw this scene, he quickly licked his face and came to Green with milk.
"Your Highness, water."
"I suddenly don't feel thirsty, Knight Captain Varda, give those things back to their original owners."
Green glanced at him faintly, and pointed to the mountains of food that were randomly placed next to him.
"Thisβ" Varda hesitated, feeling that the other party did not look like he was joking, so he had to nod his head.
Green eats quickly, perhaps because of a subconscious sense of urgency that makes him habitually save time in whatever he does.
"I'm full, thank you for the hospitality, goodbye."
Green turned and waved his hand, and was about to leave when the little girl trotted up to him and kissed the back of Aowie's hand with a flushed face.
The little girl knew that maybe this was the last time she would see each other, and she didn't want to regret it.
"Go back," Green smiled.
After leaving the fruit shop, he saw passers-by on the street with pleadings, and Green knew that they wanted to invite him to try his luck in the shop, just like the old woman before.
Unfortunately, some things were predestined, and besides, Green didn't have much time to waste here.
Seeing Varda, who was scolding the soldiers not far away, he beckoned, and the other party immediately trotted over.
"Your Highness Aoife, is there anything wrong with you?"
"I want to know how to get to Aunt Louise's house?"
Varda looked at the kid, who was only knee-high, and looked embarrassed.
"Lady Louise is in the Witch's House, right next to the Dryad's Cave, we don't dare to go there, or if you wait a few more days, maybe there will be a group of wizards there?"
Varda peeked around and noticed that Green was calm.
"Give me a map to the Dryad's Cave, a good horse."
