Project Name: The Gate of the Dead

Item No: SCP-1983

Object Class: Keter (also presumed neutralized)

Special Containment Procedures: Outpost 54 has been constructed around the land surrounding SCP-1983 and disguised as a chemical plant. The "Factory" building will be used as a barracks for Mobile Task Force Chi-13 Choir Boys. All entrances to Outpost 54 are to be guarded at all times. Personnel are to refer to Document 1983-12 for official statements to deal with any overly curious civilians.

In accordance with the Chi-13 protocol, all MTF personnel must have a strong religious affiliation. All ammunition boxes must contain silver or silver-plated bullets. SCP-1983-1's front door is to be monitored 24 hours a day. Guards are to engage any instances of SCP-1983-2 that appear. All personnel are not to approach within 5 meters of SCP-1983-2 as specified in the predetermined testing protocols.

Update: Following Incident 1983-23, the closure of Outpost 54 has been authorized. A core team is to remain to monitor SCP-1983 for further activity. Weapons used to prepare against SCP-1983-2 instances have been stored in the arsenal of Outpost 54.

Description: SCP-1983-1 is a single-story farmhouse located in β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ County, Wyoming on the West Coast. It has been abandoned due to a series of religious murders related to the "satanic cult" in 1968. For details, please refer to the SCP-β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ capture log.

Upon opening the front door of SCP-1983-1, a spatial anomaly appears to be observed. With the exception of SCP-1983-2 instances, neither matter nor light has been observed to leak out of the doorway (despite the anomaly's emitting heat).

SCP-1983-1 may be accessed through other entrances, including windows, back doors, and any entrances that open from the back of SCP-1983-1. Despite this, the front room does not appear to exist within SCP-1983-1. Doors leading to the frontrooms should all lead to other rooms in the building. Measurements taken inside and outside of SCP-1983-1 are inconsistent. Holes dug from within SCP-1983-1 that are supposed to lead to the frontrooms lead to the perimeter wall near the exterior of SCP-1983-1, but both terminate 10 feet from each end of the doorway. Attempts to burrow into SCP-1983-1's Frontrooms from the outside will result in the same spatial anomaly, although no instances of SCP-1983-2 have been observed to emerge from it. Due to the potential increase in the number of potential SCP-1983-2 instances, further damage to the wall is prohibited by O5 order.

SCP-1983-2 is a 1.8-meter-tall bipedal monster. They have a vague humanoid shape and are all black. They are extremely aggressive and will attack any human they see. When an instance of SCP-1983-2 comes into contact with a human, they attack the victim's ribcage by extending their upper limbs, but do not cause any superficial damage to skin and tissue. Through unknown means, they later killed the victim by extracting his heart. Once a human heart is obtained, the SCP-1983-2 instance will return to SCP-1983-1.

Firing silver bullets while praying is the only known method of killing SCP-1983-2. It doesn't matter what is prayed or what the person prays believes, as long as the person prays is religious. Once an SCP-1983-2 is killed, its corpse appears to "evaporate", leaving only a layer of sulfur.

SCP-1983 was discovered following a series of mysterious deaths in the vicinity of County β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ. Foundation investigators encountered instances of SCP-1983-2 and tracked them down to SCP-1983-1.

Addendum 1: A team from Mobile Task Force Chi-13 was dispatched through a frontal doorway to investigate anomalous phenomena. They didn't come back. Despite this, shortly after they entered, the front door appeared and closed (or rather closed to the door frame, the door did not appear on the wall). No further instances of SCP-1983-2 have appeared.

Addendum 2: A second strike team entered SCP-1983-1 to determine the fate of the first strike team. They didn't come back. The front door wasn't closed. Shortly after, due to the emergence of a new instance of SCP-1983-2, Agent Morris entered the doorway. Shortly after that, the front door closed.

Addendum 3: On 23/05/1989, D-14134 was attached to a closed-circuit camera, which was connected to a monitor via a 25 meter cable. He was instructed to inspect as many places as possible and try to return afterwards. As he walked through the doorway, the camera feed cut off. The rope was strained, and then broke.

After several hours, SCP-1983-1's anomalous phenomena vanished. Inside, the dried corpses of several agents were found, as well as Document 1983-15, an important SCP report written by agents in the anomaly. It reads as follows:

Item Number: Waiting to be numbered

Object Class: Keter. God bless you.

Special Containment Procedures: You're going to die, hapless fool.

This is not alarmist. I'm Agent Barclay. I'm in this stupid building, and I promise you, if you're here, you're dead too. By the time you read this report, I might have died.

It's impossible to get out of here, so let's talk about containment procedures right away. There's only one fucking way to do it: close the damn door. You can't go back. You may have already tried. Those things can get out of here, although it may take some effort. After all, that's how we found this damn place. Hopefully you've brought the door with you when you come in. When we gave up and left here, we closed the door. If you don't close the door, turn around and go back and close the door. That's your number one priority right now. You're going to die anyway. At least do something good before you die.

Description: So, the cause and effect are like this. You've probably heard of it. The Foundation has received reports of trouble with Bumfuck in the United States. Cows and wild animals die mysteriously. Some are missing. When a body was found, an autopsy revealed that its heart was missing. It's not cut and cut away, it's not torn and taken away, it's gone. The inside of the ribcage is empty.

They found some black guys wandering around. Some of the Foundation's higher-ups seem to have seen these things and know how to kill them: with silver bullets, and praying to God as they shoot. No kidding, it's literal. I don't know why this would work. It doesn't matter which god it is, but you'd better be fucking serious.

But after seeing the nest of those things, I couldn't pray anymore.

Regardless, the Foundation discovered the source of the problem. It's a few houses in Bumfuck. It's been years since all sorts of nonsense about cult rituals and bloody murders and all sorts of stupid stuff. The main problem is that those things will keep coming out the front door. A task force went in to try to solve the problem, but never returned. After that, though, the monster didn't reappear. Someone with a little bit of brains would probably think that would be enough, just keep an eye on this place and take out any moving guys, and you'll be fine. But the Foundation apparently doesn't think so......

It doesn't matter what fucking task force you're from, it could be Sequrer Nos or Choir Boys, if you open the door and rush in like me, you're fucking dead.

The living room is bad enough. That's where they caught O'Brien. When the guys entered the room, he suddenly rolled over and fell to the ground, and one of them used ...... Paw? Took his heart.

It's hard to tell with your eyes here. You may have noticed. It's like shadows. You have to stay away from the light source! I know that sounds stupid, but if you think about it, where there is light, your shadow will be very clearly bounded and very visible. But when it's pitch black, your shadow becomes a mess and becomes less noticeable. So those things can barely touch you, and they can't see you clearly. I think those things find you through your shadow. But to be honest I'm not sure, I just think it's probably the case.

You've probably tried to get out the door, but if you haven't already, don't think about it. That would lead to something worse. There aren't too many monsters out there, but ...... Jone was too far away from the house and ...... I swear! He began to melt. Things kept bursting out of his body...... Anyway, he didn't make it back. That's why we close the door.

After that, we started walking through the house. We kept the light source at the beginning, after all, we didn't understand it at first. Three of us died like that. But we have a general idea of what we're around.

If I had to ask how this place is, all I can say is that it's huge. It's not just a farmhouse. It's like ...... It's as if those things have stolen bits and pieces of space from various places, and then put them together at random. Some places look like apartments, others like shopping malls, and one place is definitely an old closet from my high school! It's exactly the same, even the checkered pattern on it is the same.

There are also some fragments that are not used...... stuff is made of. It's dark, like shadow matter, and mostly in well-lit places. If the light can pass through, you can put your hand through it. I don't recommend it. That's how we lost Torres. Something grabbed him and pulled him in. The hole was too small for his head, but he was eventually pulled in.

So, stay away from the light source area, but watch your feet in the dark.

Of course, there is no escape. We've found that too. Any door you find leads to another room in this stupid house, or back, and obviously we can't live here. So all you can do is wait to starve to death or until one of those things catches you. Plenty of options, huh?

There is one more thing you can do. I couldn't make it, but maybe you could. It's not going to keep you alive, I don't think so, but it's ...... I think it's important. I'm sure someone has to do that, or sooner or later those things will go out there and wreak havoc.

This place is pieced together from fragments of space stolen from various places, so there must be a lot of other doors. We closed every door we saw, but what if another door was opened and the Foundation didn't find it in time? Damn it...... The Foundation people don't even know about the closure, and I just hope they find out that whenever someone comes in, those things don't go out again. Of course, the premise is that the person who comes in is smart enough to know how to close the door.

So, I found a way to stop those things: find their nests.

I've only seen it once, only for a moment. We followed Denning after one of them got Denning's heart. It took the heart and entered a room that I estimated to be the center of the place. It's all shadow-like matter, and I think they've brought all the light sources I can find here. Fluorescent lamps, flashlights, candles, whatever you want to call them. As I looked, the things were still bringing in more light sources. In the center of the room, there is a whole bunch of hearts. Every heart was torn open and thrown there to be piled up. The thing threw Denning's heart up, and it began to beat and flutter violently. Then it tore apart, and the new members of the stuff struggled to crawl out of their hearts. It swayed, slowly growing larger and taking shape. The thief's disgusting thing is that his heart is still beating vigorously even though it is torn apart. I swear I felt a sharp pain in my chest.

There is still a shadow in that place. I'm not talking about monsters, I'm talking about real shadows, human shadows. There is no physical shadow that comes into thin air. Those shadows are created from the heart. When the monster hatched, a new shadow appeared and began to try to escape, but it was unsuccessful.

That's when I started running away. I can't take it anymore, you know? I'm not trained to deal with these stupid shit things. I heard the voices of others behind me. I don't know if they told me to stop, or if the bastard monsters saw us, but we got away anyway. I found a closet of the right size in the dark and hid it until now. I write with a small flashlight and turn off the lights when I hear something approaching. So far it's working.

I can't hold on anymore. I still have some bullets in my gun, but I can't pray anymore, I mean really. Especially after I've seen their nests. But you, if you find this, you must be an agent too. Maybe you're stronger than I am. If you can, go and destroy the nest. Destroy every heart. If you do, you might be able to kill them. That's the only thing I can think of. You may die while doing so, but you're going to die anyway. So what else do you have to be afraid of?

I'll try to bring the report to the living room. Hopefully you'll find it there. After that I'm going to make sure they don't use my heart to create another monster.

Good luck.

Morituri te salutant。

The Foundation is with you.

........

The SCP is presumed to have been destroyed by D-14134, and as such, he was posthumously awarded the Foundation Star (the only of two awarded to D-class personnel). Based on the information on Document 1983-15, it is presumed that the anomaly is not a small-scale phenomenon, and based on the information above, additional resources have been devoted to attempting to locate similar incidents.

"So, the Gate of the Dead is here?"

Outside the Black Forest, Xu Lai looked at the Black Forest after reading the relevant materials.

The wanderer sighed:

"It's not just the Gate of the Dead, there's a lot of anomalies inside."

"Like a whistler, or a music box?"

Xu Lai asked.

The wanderer was not surprised: "It seems that Chitose has already met him." ”

Xu Laiyan said: "In the future, but when I came here, I didn't see you. ”

The wanderer laughed:

"It seems that the time limit was followed."

"The past is left to the past, and deliberate changes will only lead to a quiet future."

Xu Lai shook his head: "Your spoiler is too obvious." ”

The wanderer looked at Xu Lai suspiciously:

"Doctor Who must have been here, right?"

"The Time Lord who travels through the universe? The last Time Lord? ”

The wanderer had heard of this man's name, but he said, "Unfortunately, I haven't met this man yet." ”

"It will be in the future."

Xu Lai patted him on the shoulder: "Since you have such an understanding of time setting, that Doctor Who will find someone like you to help him." After all, he's a guy who especially likes to make friends. ”

"And nine thousand years old, but he is an existence who likes to kill his friends in order to kill him."

The wanderer was well aware of Xu Lai's identity.

The daimyo that runs through the universe is not just a setting that has lived for 9,000 years.

It's not a good thing to be too famous.

"Aside from the Gate of the Dead, there are also whistlers and music boxes, what are the anomalies?"

Xu Lai asked, "You have been here for so long, you should know more about it." ”

The wanderer drew a horizontal knife and drew a circle on the ground.

He didn't speak, just motioned for Xu to look at the circle.

Soon after, Xu Lai understood.

If you look at it from the perspective of ordinary people, you can't see it.

But Xu Lai's eyes are not so simple.

"The circle is getting bigger a little bit."

Xu Lai was a little surprised: "Is it any wonder that the Black Forest will be much bigger than it is now in the future?" But at this rate, I'm afraid it will take at least a few hundred years......"

Wanderer says:

"I've also watched this forest grow from the size of the past to the vast area it is now."

But what if it was hundreds of years later, the Black Forest would grow later?

And what about the current timeline?

Xu Lai recalled the past he had seen from the elderly version of Taiichi Yagami.

He only saw the Great War, and his countless battles.

But there is no way to connect the specific timelines.

Think about the current Yagami Taiichi at the age of eleven.

And the timeline he is in, Taiichi Yagami is actually only about twenty-eight years old.

There was only 16 or 7 years between the front and back.

If that's the number?

Obviously, it's not the same as a few hundred years apart.

According to the conclusions of the wanderers, the rate of growth in the Black Forest is constant.

Then take the constant growth rate of the Black Forest as a reference.

And what caused the difference between the current Yagami Taichi and the future Yagami Taiichi is only sixteen or seventeen years?

There is also an elderly version of Yagami Taiichi in the middle.

Is that really the way?

Reasons for the future.

It is because he has so many unpredictable changes.

This is exactly what Xu Lai likes to see.

That's exciting enough.
