Chapter Seventy-Five: Thirst for Knowledge
At the end of the one-month intensive training, the cultural re-examination was successfully passed, and our military school study and life officially began. Two changes, let me clearly feel that the identity has changed from a soldier to a cadet.
At the end of the intensive training, the autumn and winter regular clothes of the 87-style cadre system were distributed, no longer the wide coarse cloth clothes of the soldiers, the clothing was straight, with a small western collar, a standard tie, and a clip-on tie clip, only the summer regular clothes did not change, and the style of the soldiers' clothing was the same.
The one hanging on the shoulder, no longer the rank of soldier, in the third year of the soldier, I was already a corporal, and since then it has been taken down and replaced by a cadet card, with a blue line wrapped on both sides of the middle as a side, indicating that this is a cadet of the Air Force Academy, the Army Academy next door, the cadet card is similar to ours, but the middle is earth gray and the lines on both sides are bright red.
Another change was that each person was given a handbag with the words "Air Force Anti-aircraft Artillery Academy" printed on it, made of leather and used in a uniform style, which was used as a school bag to carry textbooks and school supplies to and from class.
The march was led by the district captain, dressed in neat cadre uniforms, carrying a leather bag in one hand, marching neatly according to the essentials of walking in unison, passing through the thick shade road on the west side of the parade ground, turning into the gate of the teaching building, and then entering in an orderly manner.
Our classroom is on the west side of the third floor, just sitting the whole trainee company, the desks are neat, one for each person, covered with cedar plywood, with a drawer, where books and school supplies can be placed, this classroom has not changed since, and has been with the military academy for three years.
In the classroom, I was exposed to college courses, and I used to read my father's college books in the attic of my home, and here I started to really get in touch with them, such as calculus and college physics, and it feels similar.
The instructors of military academies are divided into three types: instructors of cultural courses, instructors of weapons, and instructors of tactics; cultural courses are generally in teaching buildings, weapons classes are generally in weapons teaching and research rooms and weapons training, and tactical courses are field training.
No matter what kind of course, in the end, it is required to pass, and the cultural foundation is weak, so every class is listened to very carefully, and I dare not be distracted, and the key points explained by the instructor are marked in the textbook, and some notes are taken from time to time.
Not only do they feel that their cultural foundation is weak, but they also have to pass the exam, and if they fail the exam, they will have to take the make-up exam in the next semester, and if they can't pass the make-up exam, they may be ordered to return to the original unit and wait for the fate of retiring from active duty as a soldier.
Although I studied hard, I found that the content of the university course was too extensive, and if the instructor did not list the scope, no matter how hard I tried, it would be difficult to pass, so I paid more attention to the class.
In addition to reviewing the knowledge in the classroom, there is also some time for me to consciously learn some useful knowledge for the troops in the future.
Later, it was discovered that the content of shooting science is too large and profound, and it can be said that it is the practical application of advanced mathematics, and there is also a discipline called ballistics in addition to shooting science, and the central meaning is to study how to make the projectile point meet the target in the advance position, and this is the really useful theoretical knowledge of the troops.
In the second semester, I finally understood that the knowledge in these classes cannot be learned thoroughly, unless I have a hobby in this area, or have a solid foundation since childhood, it is impossible to do it, not to mention that my weakness is that the knowledge foundation is not solid.
From then on, I really understood the meaning of "long live sixty years", as long as I passed each course, there was no need to study thoroughly, of course, it was impossible to study thoroughly, remember the key points, and spend more time reading extracurricular books that I thought were useful.
In the final exam of the second semester, I found out some experience, wrote down the key points or scope listed by the instructor, and waited until the first two semesters of the final exam, and recited it unexpectedly, and there was no problem in passing the exam.
In fact, whether it is a local student or an undergraduate, there are very few students who have particularly excellent grades.
There are often those who have particularly excellent grades in a single subject, and undergraduates in cultural courses perform well, especially English, they have to pass the fourth level to graduate, in contrast, college students only need to pass the exam, and the military academy takes English classes, only to find that the English learned in junior high school and high school is completely native English, and the pronunciation of letters and words is completely different.
Weapons class and tactics class, the army students performed better, the weapons of the army, is also one of the learning content, tempered for two and a half years, no one knows it better than me, this course, whether it is theory or operation, I should not let get the first, so I was also rated by the instructor as "four coaches".
After mastering the trick of surprise memorization in the last two weeks, I spent all my evening reading extracurricular books, and after the initial worries and confusion, and discovering that my expression and writing skills were insufficient, I began to focus on philosophy.
The reason for this was that the troops received an education in the glorious history of the party and the army, and found that the Communist Party of China advocated dialectical materialism, so they borrowed a large number of books in this area from the library and read them in self-study classes.
I gradually found that these belong to the category of philosophy, I remember that there is a book on philosophy, the first sentence is "philosophy is a science that makes people smart", I was even more attracted to it, and since then I have studied more than once, during which I also borrowed a large number of classic speeches of historical celebrities, thinking that in their expression, I want to learn to improve my own speaking level.
In the three years of military school, it is no exaggeration to say that every night of my self-study has not been wasted, all of it has been used for self-study, and the notes have been made in several thick books, not to mention millions of words, but hundreds of thousands of words.
Especially since the beginning of the sophomore year, I served as the commander of the probationary company, fulfilling the responsibility of maintaining classroom discipline, and I must lead by example and be more dedicated.
The evening self-study in military academies runs from Monday to Friday, except on Wednesday and Friday nights, and the rest of the time starts at 7 o'clock and ends at 9 o'clock.
The backbone of the probationary company is served in turns, the purpose is to improve the management ability of the cadets, and they will become leaders in the future, and learning to manage is a necessary content of the command major of the military academy detachment, and I have also come into contact with books in this regard, including a book, the name of which is "Management is an Art."
In the second semester of my freshman year, I served as the captain of the district team, and at the beginning of my sophomore year, I began to serve as the commander of the trainee company at the beginning of the sophomore year, and I was supposed to rotate at the end of the semester.
The so-called newborn calves are not afraid of tigers, and they must leave their "ugly" in academies and universities to bring their abilities back to the troops, and because of the strong sense of collective honor formed when I was in the army, when I was the commander of the probationary company, I really dared to manage it, and every night I had to take the roll call and seriously comment on the work and study of the day.
Later, the selfishness of exercising the ability to express itself was added, and the late roll call was unconsciously regarded as a speech, and the late roll call generally could not exceed 15 minutes, and the stuck point ended, and the late roll call of the two companies was carried out at the same time, and I don't know when it started, so it was regarded as a kind of comparison to see who spoke loudly, who spoke more problems, and who spoke for a long time.
They are all young people, disciplined, unable to resist, can only stand in the queue to endure, in fact, they are all dissatisfied, maybe this dissatisfaction is to blame, maybe they do talk too much at times, in the semester when I was not the backbone of the apprenticeship company, the team organized to play in Yangshuo, and no one was willing to be with me.
When I was in college, discipline was the most difficult to maintain, and I always insisted on strict management, took the lead in serious study, and did not allow others to talk to each other.
A famous teacher can produce a high apprentice, learn philosophy, not you can get the desired improvement by your own efforts, without the guidance of a famous teacher, the military academy looked back after three years, it seems that you have not learned anything, after graduating to the army, you find that your expression ability and writing ability are still low, and you have to spend time and hard work.
