Chapter 9: Darkness

The space inside the cave was much smaller than I expected, and we couldn't swim with our arms outstretched, so we just seemed to swim slowly in a dog-planing style.

After swimming forward like this for about 10 minutes, my breathing rate began to increase, and I could clearly feel the water temperature around me drop, and I knew that this was a sign that I was starting to lose energy.

Since I can't communicate information in time in the water, I can't tell Liang Zi about my current situation, and if I were on land now, I would definitely complain to him.

Thinking of this, I looked up at Liangzi who was leading the way in front of me with a complaintful look, who knew that I was stunned at this glance, because it was dark in front of me, and I couldn't find Liangzi's water light at all.

At this point, like a madman, I fantasized that it might be Liang Zi's water lantern that was broken, and hysterically reached out and grabbed it indiscriminately, hoping to catch Liang Zi's feet, but the front was still empty.

I suppressed my nervousness and tried to remember the last time I saw Liangzi, but at this time, I was shrouded in extreme darkness, and my mind was already like a paste, and I could no longer think about turning, and I couldn't remember when I finally saw Liangzi's light.

After stiffening for a moment in the gradually cold water, his mind cooled down a little, and he was no longer as flustered as he was just now.

I thought that the place I was in now was an underwater cave that went all the way, and even if I lost Liang Zi, he would not run anywhere else, and if Liang Zi found out that I had lost it, he would definitely wait for me at the end of the passage.

Thinking of this, he mustered up his courage and continued to grope his way forward in the darkness slowly, but without the guidance of the light, he completely lost his sense of direction, and could only rely on his hands to touch the cave walls on both sides to barely discern the direction.

After less than a few minutes of continuing like this, the thing that worried me the most happened, the hands that touched the wall of the cave suddenly fell into the air, indicating that the "Heavenly Cave" suddenly became larger.

I subconsciously sensed that something was wrong, because I would probably not know where I had dived until I died.

At this point, I immediately reflexively swam back, but after swimming for a distance I still couldn't find the cave wall, and then I swam like a headless fly in all directions underwater, still finding nothing.

However, I already felt that the oxygen was about to run out of oxygen with the difficulty of breathing, and I would definitely die here if I didn't think about it, but I never understood how this small space could suddenly become so big.

Suddenly, I swam up a few times and found that there was no obstacle, and a bold guess immediately came to my mind, could it be that I had already left the "Heavenly Cave" when I lost the walls of the cave with both hands just now, and this was just the same lake as before we entered the cave?

Thinking of this, I almost collapsed, instinctively unloaded the lead block and began to go upstream with all my might.

But now the situation is like making a person who has long been physically exhausted have to sprint for 100 meters, and the oxygen cylinder is depleted, and the mouthpiece in his mouth can no longer breathe in a mouthful of oxygen at all.

I knew I was about to drown here, and my upward movement gradually changed to a struggle, and my consciousness began to blur.

At this moment, I woke up my semi-unconscious self with a "bang" in my ears, and I felt that I had broken through the water, and immediately instinctively took off the oxygen tube that was difficult to breathe, and floated on the water to breathe in the air that I had not seen for a long time.

After the oxygen-deficient brain gradually woke up, it was still dark all around, and it was still impossible to discern the direction, only the sound of himself treading water in his ears, and then he was greeted by a stream of choking and moldy air.

This scene was completely different from the scene I had imagined in advance that Liang Zi would greet me on the shore, and I vaguely felt a little bad, and my mood immediately turned from excitement to nervousness.

There was no wind to be felt here, and there was no starlight overhead, so it must have been in the interior of a mountain or in a cavern underground.

Although I had a few pre-wrapped fire folds in plastic bags in my backpack that I could use to light up the surroundings, my swimming skills were very limited and I couldn't spare my hands in the water to do anything else, so I had to swim slowly in one direction in the dark.

I paddled forward while thinking about the reason why Liang Zi did not appear, that kid is better than me, and he has a water lantern in his hand to light the way, surely nothing will happen, could he not call me out for some kind of danger, is hiding in a corner waiting for something?

Thinking of this, my heart tightened, and my paddling movements were much lighter, trying to minimize the sound I made.

But after swimming for a long time and still in the water, I knew that I was probably going in circles in the water again, because it was difficult to ensure that I could walk in a straight line without a reference, let alone swim!

At this time, I thought of a way to listen to the sound and distinguish the position, and immediately tore off the agate necklace I was wearing around my neck, and then threw it forward with all my strength, and I heard a "pop" sound and entered the water a hundred meters away, and then I removed the watch left by my father on my wrist and threw it behind me with all my might, resulting in a "pop" sound.

I heard a rush of excitement because it was the sound of hitting a hard object.

I swam in the general direction of the sound, and it wasn't long before I came across a piece of land.

The first thing I did when I got ashore was to unload my scuba and other burdens, and then quickly fumbled for the fire fold in my backpack, because I wanted to find Liang Zi immediately, even if I saw him crawling somewhere and gesturing to me, it would be a reassuring pill for me.

At this point, I brushed the fire and blew hard, and a flash of fire seemed to ignite the darkness around me.

I squinted my eyes that were not used to the light for a while, and at this glance, the fire fold in my hand fell to the ground with a tremor of my own.
