59 The Tree of Silence

The tree stood there in silence

Silence for the sheep that the jackal was devoured

It also mourns its own selfishness

Shelter the grass from the wind and rain

But it can't give light

So the sun stretched out the figure of the tree

No!

Don't leave

Leave me to cry in this dark night

Crying out a drop of dew

In heaven

Some have become stars

And me

but took their shadows

With tears

fell on the earth and broke,

Broken.
