CHAPTER XVIII
"Everybody's gathered around, let's talk about how to get out of here."
After Henry ended his conversation with his superiors, he decided to leave immediately. But he couldn't ignore the other people in the warehouse, so he wanted to take them all out.
"Great! Come on, everybody! β
AndrΓ© was overjoyed when he heard Henry's words, and hurriedly helped to gather the others.
"Can you go out? That's great! β
"Come on, everyone!"
"Henry has a way to get everyone out safely, come here!"
β¦β¦
As soon as Henry's words came out, everyone trapped in the warehouse was excited.
"Listen to me... In view of the situation in the warehouse at this time, we must find a way to get out. Otherwise, instead of being bitten to death by zombies, I would have been starved to death..."
Henry cleared his throat and motioned for everyone to be quiet and listen to him.
"yes..."
"Henry was right..."
β¦β¦
"Alright, please be quiet! Let's all stop talking, and listen to Henry. β
As soon as Henry had finished speaking, the others began to chatter.
AndrΓ© saw that Henry couldn't go on, so he stepped in to stop him.
"Okay, I'll start with my thoughts. yes, Zach and I went to the roof of that two-story apartment to scout. If you want to get through, you have to get to the other side first..."
Henry paused, then continued.
"But there are a lot of zombies downstairs, and we can borrow a vehicle to attract the attention of the zombies. Others took cover and helped him reach the shop across the street safely. Then we threw a rope from the roof of the apartment building to the roof of the opposite building, and everyone climbed along the rope..."
Henry listened, looked around the crowd and asked if there was any problem.
"You mean, we have to send someone first. Then wait on the roof of the shop opposite to catch the ropes we threw over, and then climb over one by one, right? β
Andrei raised his hand at this point and repeated Henry's words.
"Yes, exactly. The person who passed first had to be agile in order to reach it safely. The rest of the people have to cover him and deal with the threatening zombies. β
Henry patiently explained.
"And what about the guy who drove the car? How did he escape after luring away a horde of zombies? β
Andrei objected.
"Well, so I'm going to drive. I'm trying to attract as many zombies as I can, so there's a lot less pressure on you. β
Henry volunteered to be the bait.
"It's too dangerous for you to go alone, right?"
Ashley asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, I'm a soldier, I won't hang up so easily."
Henry patted his chest.
"Alright then, go on."
Andrei said.
"I think Zach can do it, I've seen what he can do. Zach, are you okay? β
Henry then asked.
"No problem!"
Zach stood behind and raised his hand symbolically.
"Well, please. By the time everyone arrived at the shop opposite, there were plenty of weapons and ammunition in the store for everyone to defend themselves. There is a supermarket not far from the weapons shop, where everyone can go. β
Henry was afraid that everyone would not understand, so he picked up a stone and drew it on the ground.
Everyone looked carefully at the simple map that Henry had drawn on the ground, and memorized it carefully.
"I've observed, there aren't many zombies on the way to the supermarket, and I believe that with guns in hand, everyone can pass safely."
Henry threw away the stone and tapped the ground with his finger.
"Do you have any questions?"
Henry asked again.
This time, everyone nodded, indicating that there was no problem.
"Okay, since there is no problem, let's go separately. And I have two guns here, whoever has good marksmanship will use it. Remember, be sure to aim before you hit! β
Henry gave AndrΓ© the only two guns he had and instructed them on how to use them.
"Okay, I see..."
Andrei said solemnly.
"Make good use of these two guns, this is the key to our safe escape!"
Henry told the crowd solemnly.
After the group dispersed, Henry called Zach alone.
"It's not that I hate you this time, you understand. Because I think you're the best candidate, understandable? β
Henry put his arm around Zach's shoulders intimately and said earnestly.
"Well, I can understand. This task can only be done by me, and their words cannot be completed. β
Zach smiled.
"You have to be safe! If you fail, then everyone fails, and you still have to rely on yourself at the critical moment. If you really can't do it, you can protect yourself first, and then we'll discuss it when it's over. β
Henry was very optimistic about this young man, and naturally did not want him to have an accident.
"Hmm!"
Zach agreed.
"When you get to the weapons shop, remember to find your knife. And I hope you can come with us... It's presumptuous, but I sincerely ask you to join us. β
Henry came up with his own idea.
"Coming with you? Where to go? β
Zach was confused.
"To tell you the truth, Ashley and I are going to save your father. His condition is critical, and I have to rescue him as soon as possible, which is also my mission. β
This time, Henry chose to tell Zach the truth.
"I'm not going!"
Zach decisively refused.
Zach could have such a reaction, Henry had already thought of it. So he didn't say much, just patted Zach on the shoulder and left.
"So what am I going to do?"
Ashley came to Henry's side and asked.
"Please forgive me for lying to you..."
Henry was silent for a moment, then said something that puzzled Ashley.
"Deceived me? What did you lie to me? β
Ashley asked, puzzled.
"Actually, I didn't plan to help you find your uncle in the first place, I think it's a waste of time. My purpose is actually to get you to accompany me on a mission, and I can't do it alone..."
Henry behaved like a child who had made a mistake at this time, and whispered with his head down.
Ashley was taken aback when he heard Henry's words.
Unable to recover for a long time, she covered her head and sobbed quietly.
Henry saw Ashley crying, and he didn't know what to do for a while. I tried to comfort her, but the outstretched hand retracted.
In the end, Henry was left alone with Ashley and left alone.
He wanted her to calm down, after all, it was his fault this time. If Ashley didn't go with him, he would admit it.
At night
The heat in Buffalo has been going on for a while, and it's getting people out of the heat.
But this evening, the weather changed suddenly. Suddenly a strong wind blew, followed by heavy rain.
Everyone in the warehouse sat together to rest, listening to the crackling rain outside, and everyone was worried that the bad weather would bring resistance to the plan.
At this time, Henry walked over. Seeing everyone's expressions, he also guessed something.
"I know what you're worried about, don't be afraid! The heavy rain may not be as bad as we thought... Come, we're ready to go! β
Henry had been worried, but he didn't have time. He's got to go, or Corey might not be able to hold it out...
