Chapter 132: God's Past
"Alright, stop your quarrel, I didn't call you here for such trivial things." Montezuma II finally spoke to maintain order.
Montezuma II's civil prowess was no less than that of his father, Montezuma I, and his prestige among the nobility, the army, the commoners, and even the priests was high.
As soon as he spoke, the three of them did not dare to quarrel anymore and stood quietly in their places.
And Montezuma was right, compared to the news brought back by the jaguar warrior, the place for the blessing ceremony was indeed a trivial matter.
"Let Ramons come up and let him tell me what he's seeing." Montezuma II said.
The jaguar warrior Rammons was waiting outside the hall, and when he heard the call of the guards, he immediately entered the main hall.
"Your Majesty, your loyal warrior Ramons has followed the call." Ramones respectfully knelt on one leg and put his hand on his chest.
Ordinary people need to bow down on both legs to meet the king, but Ramons, as the most elite tiger warrior, can bow down with only one leg.
In the face of other nobles, he even had to bend down and salute.
This was the new policy promulgated by Montezuma II, which also won him the support of the soldiers.
"Get up, Ramones, you've had a hard time camping outside." Montezuma II said kindly.
He knew that military power was the foundation of his power, so he was extremely gentle with his soldiers.
"All for Your Majesty, for the gods, for the Empire." Ramones said loudly.
Montezuma II was very pleased with his answer, and his attitude became more gentle.
The High Priest frowned, and was very dissatisfied with him for putting the gods behind Montezuma II, but it was not convenient for him to attack, and only made a note in his heart.
"I know your loyalty very well. Well, tell me what you saw in the valley, Ramones. Montezuma II said.
"Yes, Your Majesty." Ramons remembered the experience of that day, and his expression of excitement and joy became heavy again.
"I was on my daily patrol that day, and the steward of the prisoner transport team called me over, and then I met the being. He led a group of Ramakats and seemed to be on his way. He claimed to have come from the sea, asked me to release the captives, and declared the jungle his country. Ramon paused, as if reminiscing.
Everyone waited quietly for him to remember, and the only sound of heavy breathing was in the entire hall.
"He told me to come back and tell His Majesty that he would come to Tenochtitlan with his soldiers and horses, and tear down the temples of the evil gods, kill the priests of the evil gods, destroy our barbaric customs, and establish a new order." Rammons repeated Liu Zheng's words word for word, and then bowed his head deeply.
There was silence, as if someone had unleashed a spell to stagnate time.
"Can you describe him specifically?" The High Priest broke the silence.
"His face was as white as the moon, and his skin was as delicate as jade. His eyes were as sharp as obsidian flakes, and his speech was as majestic as a tiger's roar. He wears heavy, silver full-body armor, but his movements are lighter and faster than that of a jaguar. Ramons said in a very proud tone, after all, it is not an honor for ordinary people to face the gods and be chosen to deliver the letter.
Even if you are a high priest, you have never seen the true body of the gods.
"Are you sure that one is really a god?" The High Priest asked.
"Of course, his temperament is so extraordinary, and it makes me relay it as naturally as if I was telling a story. He didn't say a word about being a god, but I believe that only a god can have that kind of bearing. Ramones said categorically.
The high priest didn't ask questions, but he also believed that what Rammons said was true.
After all, the words of the one who let Ramones relay correspond too well to the history of God recorded in the scriptures.
In Aztec mythology, the world was originally nothing, with only one deity called Ometiotto (meaning "two gods" or "two kings").
He is both male and female, heaven and earth, light and darkness, fire and water, order and chaos.
In short, He is the unity of all opposites.
He bore four children of his own: Sipe Totik (god of skinning and strength), Tezcatlipoca (god of sky and darkness), Quezalcoartl (god of life, light, and wisdom, i.e., Quetzalcoatl), and Vizilopochtli (god of war).
After the birth of the four gods, they felt that the world was too cold and empty, and they began to create everything in the world.
But every time they tried to create something, it would fall into the water beneath their feet and be swallowed by Hipakitri.
Hipaktri is a half-crocodile, half-fish monster in the beginning, with an extremely fierce personality, a mouth growing into every joint of its body, and being in a state of hunger all the time.
As a result, Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoartl began to join forces against the monster.
Eventually, Texcatlipoca teamed up with Quezalcoartl to kill it at the cost of a foot, and created the world with its body.
Tezcatlipoca became the sun and ruled the world, and the inhabitants were giants who ate acorns for their livelihood, which was the First Solar Age.
But because he lost a leg, or because he was the god of the night, he could only become half a sun, and the world was always in darkness.
Quezal Koatl didn't like such a dimly lit world, so he threw his brother into the sea with a stone hammer.
Without the sun, the world was completely dark, and an enraged Texcatlipoca turned into a jaguar, devouring all his people.
After the destruction of the First Solar Age, Quezal Keyatl ruled the world, and the inhabitants were human beings, eating pine nuts for their livelihood, which was the Second Solar Period.
However, because of his easy-going personality and his liberal attitude towards humans, as his reign lasted longer, people began to forget their reverence for the gods.
Quezalkoatl himself didn't think anything of it, but Tezcatlipoca often taunted Quezalkoatl, which made him very angry.
So they fought and sank the continent and set off a hurricane that wiped out the entire world, leaving only a small number of humans alive.
After the destruction of the Second Solar Era, Quezal Koyatl regretted and blamed himself very much, and voluntarily chose to abdicate, but demanded that Tezcatlipoca not be allowed to succeed him.
So the gods elected Tlalocle, the god of rain, to become the new sun, and the inhabitants ate lotus seeds to survive, which is the Third Solar Period.
But Tescatlipoca seduced his wife, Sochquetesal (the goddess of beauty), and the sad Tlaloc was depressed and wanted to do nothing.
This led to a prolonged drought and people who kept praying for rain, and Tlalocle, who was already in a bad mood, was so annoyed that anger rained down on fire, and the era was destroyed, and the surviving humans were turned into birds to survive.
In order to calm Talaroch's grief, the goddess Charchutriquet (the god of rivers and lakes) took the initiative to accompany and comfort him, and in the course of their relationship, the two gods developed feelings and bonded.
By the election of Talaroc and the consent of the gods, Char Chutrique ruled the world, and the inhabitants ate another wild aquatic plant, which is the Fourth Solar Period.
She is a benevolent and good ruler, but Tescatlipoca attacks her, saying that she is a hypocrite who is just trying to gain praise from the people.
Charchutri was eventually overwhelmed by his words, and she cried all day long, and her tears turned into heavy rain all day long, and the flood destroyed everything, and the surviving humans were turned into fish to survive.
After experiencing the destruction of the first four solar ages, Quezalkoartl couldn't take it anymore and found Tezcatlippoca.
Texcatlipoca also regretted it a little, so the two gods joined forces again.
Turning into giant serpents, they together seized the giant Traltkutli (four-legged with a skull head) cruising in the world's oceans, dividing the giant's body into two halves: half heaven and half earth.
After that, the gods worked together to make its body grow mountains, caves, plants, and flowers, creating a new world.
After the creation of the new world, the gods wanted to create new inhabitants, but Quezal Koyatl disagreed.
Never accepting the death of his own people (i.e., humans in the Second Solar Age), he traveled with his twin god Shulotel to Mictlan (the Aztec mythological hell) to steal the bones of his people from the god Mictrantikutri.
As he was about to leave Hell, Quezalkoatl was stumbled by Mictlantikutri's calculations, and as a result, he brought back only the scraps of bones.
As soon as they returned from Hell, they went to a place called Tamoan to start making humans.
They put human bones in their mouths and chewed them, moistened them with their own blood, mixed them with dirt, and kneaded them into human shapes.
Due to the lack of intelligence of the newborn humans, they will also nurse their babies in place of humans, and only send them to the new world when their minds have matured.
Thanks to his efforts to save the world and create its inhabitants, Quezalcoatl was once again elected as the new sun to rule the world, which became the Fifth Solar Age.
In the beginning, Quezal Koatl learned the lessons of the first four solar ages and ruled the worldly gods more attentively.
The gods of corn, flowers, rain, water, etc., help humans to cultivate and harvest, corn is harvested, gourds are as thick as human arms, cotton of various colors grows by itself, and clothes do not need to be dyed.
Feathered birds of all colors soar and sing in the sky, and gold, silver, and precious stones are exposed to the ground.
It was a time when human beings were peaceful and prosperous, and their lives were extremely happy, so it was called the "Golden Age".
But the good times were short-lived, and the three warlike and bloodthirsty gods were very jealous of the peaceful life of Quezal Koyatl and his subjects, and felt that they were being neglected by the people, so they plotted to overthrow them.
These three gods are the god of darkness, Tescatlipoca, the god of war, Vizilopochtli, and the demon god Trakhoopan.
