XV Origins of Hatred
Lamia's father's name was John, an upright, decent, hard-working and strong man who firmly believed that with his own hands and courage, he could make a good life for his family.
As the Archons have recommended, the people of Black Coffin will use the power of Black Coffin to reclaim the fallen world, in the hope that humanity will once again rule the planet.
Lamia forgets when John became ill, but he changed and began to become depressed, and the doctors said he was suffering from depression. He was listless and had no interest in anything. He stopped working and was soon dismissed. Lamia's mother, Barbara, had to go to work to make ends meet.
John made a good impression on the neighborhood, and people were willing to help him at first. There was a psychiatrist in town who treated John for free. But in the sad era, there was a shortage of medicines, and the medicine for depression was almost extinct. Psychological counseling and family care alone are of little use.
Lamia often listened to her parents arguing, her father started drinking and slept all day, and her mother tried to save her father with love, but to no avail. Her mother undoubtedly loved John, and she remembered her vows when she got married, and she didn't think about divorce. But both Lamia and El Salvador knew they wouldn't last long.
John had almost given up on life, and if Lamia had left his father, his father would have died, but the most hateful thing was that his father did not want to try to make amends.
Psychiatrists say that the disease is in the human brain, and even surgery is useless.
One day, the psychiatrist brought good news: a research institute in the black coffin was testing a new drug for depression, and there was a shortage of cases, and they couldn't wait for John to try it, and were even willing to pay John.
Lamia listened to her mother pick up the phone from the research institute, she seemed a little hesitant, she still loved John, she still wanted to love John, she said, "I.... I don't know, is this medicine dangerous? Will it be harmful to the body? β
She is convinced that pie will not fall from the sky.
Lamia thought to herself, "But we're at the end of our rope, can it be any worse?" β
Mother thought the same way, and either watched John die, or let John drag the family down, causing them to be expelled from the town outside the Black Coffin and die in the wilderness.
They were given permission to enter the skyscraper, and the whole family was able to enter. They had to carry a time-keeping device and couldn't stay long, but it was a dream trip for Lamia and Salvador, who have always revered skyscrapers.
The ground floor hall of the skyscraper resembles a temple of gods, but time is limited, and they hurried into the elevator. Lamia remembers very well that the research institute was located on the 53rd floor - the "Gene Pharmacy External Office".
The office was clean, the furniture was extremely simple, a few soft leather sofas, a front desk desk, and a reception lady at the desk, who was a little anxious and almost rushed to get John in. The mother wanted to follow, but was turned away, so they had to sit on the sofa and wait.
After two hours, they were starting to get worried, and the reception lady let them in to see the patient.
Lamia remembers everything that happened since then, including every detail of those days that lasted like years.
FatherβJohnβsaw them and smiled for the first time in a long time. It was the first time he had smiled in a year, and it was this smile that relieved his mother, Lamia, and Salvador of the weight of the days they had been having.
Even if that smile seemed weird.
The doctor sat behind the large desk, a middle-aged man with furious hair and a bright gaze that looked energetic, and he looked at his mother, and Lamia found his eyes uncomfortable, with intense interest, as if he wanted to take her for himself (I guess Lamia's mother was beautiful, as evidenced by Lamia).
The doctor, who identified himself as Simon Magnus, spun a golden pen in his hand from left to right hand like a juggler, and said, "The effects of the medicine are already starting to show, and he may be overly agitated these days, but don't mind, he'll get better." β
The mother asked, "Will there be any side effects?" β
"Because the drug is still experimental, the hyperactivity is one of the side effects, and the patient's personality may also change greatly, accompanied by temporary amnesia," says Dr. Simon. Let's take him back to sleep first, after a while, the chemistry in his brain will return to normal levels, and he will be fine. β
The mother smiled happily even though she was worried, and Lamia and Salvatore hugged their father, and John was a little silly, but when he hugged his children, he seemed very enthusiastic.
They left the coffin on time, and the father greeted every stranger he met on the way home, and he even secretly kissed his mother on the neck while she was not looking, causing her mother to laugh.
Lamia thinks her father has really returned. He woke up at dawn the next day, made breakfast for everyone, and cleaned the room thoroughly. He was out of work, but he bribed the foreman with the money from genetic medicine and successfully applied for a job at the construction site.
Lamia and Salvador went out of their way to visit their father, and he worked so hard that he seemed to never tire of it.
The mother prepares a sumptuous dinner to celebrate John's "recovery", and the father hugs the mother tightly, and Lamia has never seen her father so loving to her mother.
When he looked at her, his eyes were greedy and his smile was exaggerated. At that time, Lamia suddenly felt uneasy, and felt that this look was very similar to that of Dr. Simon. But Lamia thought, "It's just a side effect of the medicine, didn't the doctor say it?" β
His father had a good appetite, but his mother whispered to him, "Do you remember what shameful things you said to me on our first date?" β
Confused, my father asked, "What did I say?" β
His mother pushed him and said, "Don't be stupid, you will say it to me every wedding anniversary." β
The father said, "I... Sorry, I really don't remember. β
Her mother was disappointed, and Lamia felt at that moment that if a person forgot the past, then he would become a different person, a stranger. But didn't Dr. Simon say that? This amnesia is only temporary.
The father took the mother's hand and said emotionally, "But I still love you, Lana, if you believe in me, I will definitely remember it, and I will definitely make you happy." β
Her mother wept with joy, and after a moment of despair, she finally rekindled hope. Lamia and Salvador eat early and let their mother and father talk together. That night, a noise came from their room, and Lamia couldn't sleep.
After two happy days, Lamia came home from school and saw her father standing numbly in the dark, like a zombie, which scared Lamia into screaming. Lamia's screams didn't alarm him, he just looked at Lamia with that weird, demented laugh.
Lamia asked, "Daddy, how are you feeling?" β
John said, "Me? I am fine. β
Lamia asked, "What about your job?" β
John said, "I'm on the night shift tonight and have a day off. β
Lamia asked, "There are also night shifts on the construction site?" β
John yawned and fell asleep on the bed. Lamia feared that he would be depressed again, but he didn't. In the evening, he went out to work energetically.
My father's routine became very abnormal, and he sometimes went out during the day and sometimes at night. He seems to find his mother attractive, as sweet as falling into his first love with his mother. However, he over-zealously, and sometimes, Lamia thought, "He's like the ruffians of the town, always pestering women, and he doesn't know anything about it." β
Mother thought the same thing, and she began to say to John, "Be temperate! Don't do this in front of Lamia and Sammy! β
John just said, "But dear, I love you so much." β
Father didn't say that before, he wouldn't talk about love, he was a gentle and generous man, not such a flirtatious little gangster. He had changed completely, from his memories to his mannerisms, and Lamia felt that the medicine had completely changed him, that he had not improved, that it was as if he had been reshaped.
The mother's eyes when she looked at her father also became full of doubts.
Until that day, her father committed an atrocity in the night, and Lamia lost almost everything. That night, Lamia followed her father out and was confronted by a stray dog. It was an old dog, and Lamia knew him well, he was very well-behaved and loyal, like a volunteer patrol officer in the community.
The old dog barked at John, John grabbed the old dog's neck, and the old dog bit John's hand, biting him so much that he was dripping with blood, but John didn't feel it at all, and he strangled the old dog to death.
Lamia screamed to save the dog, but when her father came to her with a smirk, Lamia had no courage and ran home.
At home, while the mother was waiting for them, she said, "Lamia, take Sammy, and go back to your room, I have something to say to John." β
Lamia locked the door and eavesdropped on their conversation. She heard her mother cry out, "Who are you?" Who exactly? β
Father: "I'm John, Lana, what's wrong with you?" β
The mother said, "No! You're not! I saw it that day, I saw you sitting at a table with a pen in your hand, turning from left hand to right hand, John never played such a trick! He never! β
Father: "I saw Dr. Simon do it that day and it was funny, so I learned it. β
Mother: "You're not John at all!" You're Simon Magnus! Yesterday, I applied for permission to enter the 53rd floor of the black coffin, saying that I wanted to see Dr. Simon. But they said that there was no 'Gene Pharma External Office' on the 53rd floor! There is no so-called Simon Magnus at all! β
Lamia suddenly felt that her mother was right, John was not John, and that he was acting exactly what Dr. Simon did! Lamia remembers every moment of that meeting, the tone of Simon's speech, the way Simon looked at his mother, and Simon's movements when he turned his pen, all of which were fully reflected in his father.
He didn't heal his father at all! He just took possession of his father's soul! Insulted the mother with the father's body!
She opened the door and saw her mother pointing a gun at her father, and she shot him in the shoulder, but his father laughed and said, "You know it's not me, it's your husband." The good news is that John's soul is gone, gone, dead, free, and long gone. I can choose not to feel the pain, or I can choose to enjoy the warmth with you. Is there a difference between me and John? You just treat me as him. When I say 'I love you,' I mean it. β
The mother shot again, but the father rushed forward and snatched the mother's gun. His strength was so amazing that he seemed to lose control and smashed his mother's head with the butt of his gun.
Lamia stabbed John in the back of the head with a fruit knife, and John looked back at her, his greedy and evil eyes now aimed at Lamia.
"We'll see you again," he smiled, "daughter." β
He fell to the ground and gasped, but Lamia knew that it wasn't Simon Magnus or her father, John, who had died, but just an empty shell that had long since died.
