Chapter 295: Barnes Lee

Barnes grew up in an American family.

To be precise, half of his childhood was spent in an orphanage, and the other half in an adoptive family.

So he was an orphan.

He didn't know who his father was, and he didn't know who his mother was.

As a child, he was told that he was abandoned in the slums.

From the time he was sensible, he lived in an orphanage, which was funded by the government and some charities, which allowed him to barely survive the first half of his childhood.

Although he lives in an orphanage, Barnes is different from other children, he is very enthusiastic, hardworking, and obedient, he never goes out to cause trouble like other children, even if he can't eat enough, he will never go to the street to steal other wallets.

Probably because of his good behavior, God blessed him with some good luck.

When he was seven years old, an elderly couple came to visit their children at the orphanage.

This is an elderly couple with no children and no other relatives.

So they want to take in a child when they have little left to live.

And this was the moment when Barnes's luck came, because he had a purely Chinese face, and the old couple was also Chinese.

And Barnes has always been the most sensible of the many children in the orphanage.

So he was taken away by the couple without a hitch.

The Chinese couple loved Barnes so much that they treated him almost as if he were their own child.

This period was probably the happiest day since Barnes was born.

But the good times didn't last long.

In their fifth year together, an accident destroyed it all.

Barnes, who was only 12 years old at the time, came home from school one day to find a lot of police officers in front of his house, and a cordon had been set up in front of his house.

The ignorant Barnes didn't understand what was happening.

Later, a female police officer explained the unfortunate incident to him in more euphemistic terms.

Presumably, there was a gangster who ransacked his two adopters, taking not only their property, but also their lives.

……

It's like, God and Barnes made a big joke.

He only gave him a taste of the sweetness, and after five years, he took it back.

Barnes didn't even know who had mutilated his adoptive parents.

And because he was only twelve years old, he naturally returned to the orphanage and continued to live his familiar lifestyle.

……

Until he was too old to be taken in by the orphanage.

Barnes didn't hesitate too much, and at the age of seventeen, he chose to enlist in the army.

And with a hard work, he was successfully selected from the army, and finally became a high-level special forces member.

After four years in the military, he began investigating the case of his adoptive parents nine years earlier.

That's what he went into the army for training.

He wanted to know the truth, he wanted to know who had mutilated the two good people who had adopted him.

Because no matter what method he used before, he never got a response.

The police didn't tell him any details, they didn't even say who the real culprit was, and they didn't tell them the outcome of the crime.

The whole thing seemed like it was going to be over.

……

As Barnes investigated, he began to notice something unbelievable.

He learned that his adoptive father was the head of a special scientific research project, but he was already retired when he adopted him.

The experiment was suspended because the results of the experiment had exceeded the limits of the law.

But there are still some special people staring at them.

These men killed Barnes's adoptive parents in order to seize some of the results of the experimental project.

Barnes has been tracking down the men for months.

Just when he found the other party's lair, he saw something strange.

They have mastered the results of their adoptive father's experiments, but the experiments themselves are flawed, and those people will become crazy, and they will use the results of the experiments on the human body to create a special physique.

These people's bodily functions are reversed.

Their cell mechanism is completely different from that of normal humans, and they have an extremely terrifying devouring ability, which can absorb most of the external energy.

Everyone's skin is like being covered with magma.

Bullets, they can't hurt them at all.

When Barnes was cornered by those men, he activated the explosive device and blew everyone up, along with the other party's secret experimental area......

……

He thought his life was over.

But when he woke up, he found himself lying in a hospital bed.

The medical staff told him that this was the AHB research center.

They treated him.

……

Barnes later learned that the organization of the so-called Center for the Study of Abnormal Humans had rescued him from the rubble.

In fact, those whose bodies were mutated did not die from the explosion, but were detained by AHB agents.

But what made him unacceptable was that.

Lying on the hospital bed, he was covered in the same red as those madmen.

When he came to his senses, Barnes realized that he was not lying in a hospital bed, but in an ice cave.

There were all sorts of instruments around him that were testing him.

It turned out that the explosion he started caused a special substance in the experimental equipment to radiate to him, transforming him into the same mutant.

That's why he survived the explosion.

……

Originally, the AHB was going to detain him along with the mutants.

However, they later discovered that it was a pure accident, and that, unlike the others, Barnes's physical mutation did not affect his mind.

So after being vetted by various levels within the AHB, they decided that if Barnes was willing to train and become an agent of the AHB, they would not restrict his freedom in life.

So the twenty-one-year-old Barnes joined the mysterious organization.

And he was convinced that this was what he wanted.

Barnes befriended his instructor, Miranda.

Underwent rigorous training.

He discovers that many of the agents in the Abnormal Human Research Center are not normal humans, just like him.

Many people, including Miranda, have varying degrees of human variation.

……

That's how Barnes has lived for the past two decades.

Until now, there seems to be a key figure in his life.
