Chapter 14: The Frontline Getting Closer
Carl didn't say a word, probably impatient with my fanatical and childish remarks, but my words were indeed what I had in mind.
However, what I never dreamed of was that by this time the Kara Line had collapsed on all fronts, and the Rosa people did not concentrate on a single point, but launched an all-out attack on a 2,000-kilometer front.
The soldiers on the Kara Line resisted to the death, and none of them surrendered, knowing that they could not hold this place, but they still fought stubbornly against the Rosha people on every hill until the last moment.
It was already dark, and there were four moons in Kuixing, but they were all pitiful, and I watched the moon slowly streak across the sky, and I was just wondering when we would be able to go.
These two hours are simply more than a century.
I don't know if Carl carried it back in the end. In a daze, I saw the door of the patrol car, struggled to get in, and fell asleep.
Feng Qiu, the captain of the car with me, did not wake me up, he let me sleep until dawn, and he drove an all-night car in my place.
I felt like I had a fever and I wanted to wait until noon to go to the medic and ask for a pill.
Although humans travel faster than the speed of light, these aspects of military equipment have been stagnant for countless centuries. However, there has been great progress in people's livelihood science and technology, and modern medicine has been very developed, but because of the lack of resources, no matter how good the medicine is, there are not enough raw materials to produce.
At noon, the colonel from yesterday reappeared, but this time he brought everyone a steaming nutritious paste. This made everyone cheer, and everyone thanked him from the bottom of their hearts.
I think the colonel is a kind and generous man, and yesterday he caught us smoking, and he could have locked us up, but he didn't do that, just let us do our original mission. And now, he's also bringing us a hot meal.
β¦β¦
β¦β¦
We had planned to cover the 3,000-kilometre journey in 2 days, but it took 4 days.
Endless storms are falling, and I can't imagine what such a weather system could be. And they told me that in the summer, it would be as hot as an oven.
The temperature had never been minus 40 degrees, and when it was time for us to rest, no one was willing to get out of the car and go on patrol no matter how much the officers threatened and intimidated us.
On the way, several trucks broke down badly, and they couldn't be repaired for a while, so we moved the parts of the particle cannon on them to other cars, and a lot of the remaining supplies, in order not to fall into the hands of the resistance, were blown up by us along with the car.
The most impressive part of this journey was that we passed through a battlefield ruins.
About 100 kilometers of the area, all the wreckage of various machinery, this area was originally a large plain, and this area has been bombed into a hilly area.
The warheads of the ordinary missiles of the Rosa people are high-energy blocks, which produce tens of thousands of degrees of heat and vacuum after exploding, and many of our mecha tanks are buried under their missiles.
However, we were in close control of air supremacy, and space-based particle cannons from low Earth orbit destroyed the positions of the Rosa here, and some of the craters with a radius of several kilometers were our masterpieces.
At the end of this section of the road, there is a large cemetery, I don't know how many comrades-in-arms died here, those who can find the bodies are buried, and a half-human-high circular arch is placed in front of their tombs, which is a symbol of the star gate and a symbol of human glory.
Our convoy finally arrived in Rine. This huge city north of Kuixing was not damaged too much, when the Rosa people were surrounded here, and the general defending the city chose to surrender without resistance, and the city was able to be preserved.
Towering thousand-story buildings, flying cars, high-speed rail tracks crisscrossing the air, and chaotic slums above and below all make us feel like we're finally back in civilization.
RinΓ© is the most important logistics transshipment base of the Kara Line, where a large number of combat units and logistics units converge and then drive to the Kara front, which is less than a thousand kilometers away. The city's Rocha civilians were driven to live in concentrated areas, everything else became barracks, roads were tightly controlled, and we really felt the taste of the front line here.
The convoy stopped outside the 6th Ring Road in the interior to load and unload supplies, the snow was swept away, and we finally stepped on the hard ground, and we were extremely happy with such a small change.
Everyone is looking forward to a break. The order came down quickly and we only had 5 hours to go and rest, there was a bathroom to take a shower. On top of that, we'll get new food supplies.
It was like heaven for five hours, and each of us was comfortably bathed, had a hot meal, and received many days of supplies.
But 5 hours flew by, and we were soon ready to go.
Before leaving, a major gave us a pre-war briefing:
"Warriors of the Galactic Defense Force! As I speak, General Chen Kaishir is leading the Third Army Group in a counteroffensive against the positions of the Roshas.
Your mission is to go to support and deliver the supplies that are urgently needed at the front to your comrades. The journey from Rine can be very dangerous. In the factories of Earth and Mars, our brothers and sisters who work day and night for frontline fighters can produce these weapons, and through you they can cross thousands of miles to deliver these weapons to the brave frontline fighters. As long as one of the fighters of the Star Defense Force is still short of supplies, no one has the right to delay for a moment!
It's been 10 years since we came to this planet, and for 10 years we've had glorious victories, and every place where our warriors fell was our territory, and now that they're lost, we must take them back, and you must be as brave as your fallen comrades!
This is not a war of any politician, nor is it a war of any general, this is a war of life and death for all mankind. Thousands of people back home have entrusted their hopes to you. You must learn to face the pain and difficulties that lie ahead without complaint, for you are the best of the galactic defenders. The galaxy will win! β
"The galaxy will win!" We replied neatly.
After boosting morale, the major gave a serious specific order: "Now we will scatter all the supplies and transport them to the most needed places on the front line, the logistics and combat units will be combined, all of them will be front-line combatants, and they will go to the Kara Line in brigades, and at the same time, each brigade will be equipped with a mecha tank squad, and our air force will also support you at any time in space." Alright, guys, let's go. β
Then he gave a standard military salute to the people, and we set off at random to enter the real front line.
