Chapter Nine: Kaskinen

Kuixing is mainly divided into three major continental theaters, and now we have lost two.

The Rosa recaptured the large nuclear silos near the equator of Kuixing, and used these excellent launch bases to carry out a fierce counterattack against our aerospace forces, which is the destruction of the starship carriers that we witnessed with our own eyes.

And now the Third Army is holding on to the permafrost of the Great Plains in the northern hemisphere of Kuixing. This is an important grain producing area, and every day the grain production factories will transform large quantities of land into grain culture media, quickly producing synthetic food to supply our tens of millions of troops.

Food is the foundation of all civilizations, and all the energy we need ultimately comes from the land, and food cannot be grown out of thin air in space, and the land is still the core of warfare.

The Rosha people will not drop nuclear bombs here, even if they blow us all to death, leaving only a heavily polluted land, they will not do anything good.

We landed at Fort Ilrus in the northern hemisphere, from where we had to transport missiles and particle cannons to the front line in Dominica, a journey of more than 6,000 kilometers and full of dangers.

We set off in the early hours of the second day after landing and finally arrived at Kaskinen, the first city of Kuixing, after a long day.

Our convoy was parked on a very spacious and very long unloading platform, where there were many people coming and going, and everywhere was busy, and in addition to many of our soldiers, there were many ordinary Rocha and Rocha prisoners.

These prisoners of war surrendered voluntarily, unlike the saboteurs who were shot, wearing white armbands and primitive rifles, and were responsible for managing the Rocha.

They greatly reduce the pressure on our management and are our best spies.

For these Rocha people who sincerely cooperate with us, they have also changed from ordinary people to managers of their own compatriots, and they have tasted power.

It seems to us a win-win situation, and we want all the Rocha to surrender.

Here we will join up with several other companies, then rest for more than 30 hours, and tomorrow we will wait until it gets dark to continue our departure.

But there is no canteen here, and I finally know why we are sent so many supplies before the departure of Mars, because all of our capacity is used to transport war machines, and it is impossible to send food to the front line across the stars, everything here is only self-sufficient.

Roy began to regret that he had eaten too much the other day and that he didn't have much left over from his rations. However, we are satisfied that we finally slept in a comfortable bed tonight.

Kaskinen is a battle-battered city, and the whole city was almost flattened after a fierce battle between us and the Roshas.

All the high-rise buildings have been destroyed, and now there is only a temporary base built on the subway, and there are ruins everywhere.

We woke up and went to the underground base, where the medic gave us a few shots of vaccines against infectious diseases endemic to the Rosha system.

As we walked through the ruins, many Rosha people passed by us, these people were old and weak women and children, and we also saw the daily life of the real Rosha ordinary people for the first time, which looked no different from humans.

They rode to the relief site in a hovercart to pick up food, looking at us humans with the same curious eyes.

Some of the slightly intact buildings in the ruins were used by the local Rosha to open some small shops, and we decided to go to one of the bars to try the Rosha food.

However, we found that the credit chip implanted in our arm could not be used on the planet of the Rosha, and we didn't know what to do for a while, so the boss of the Rosha gave us a gesture, did not charge us money, and provided us with a lunch for free.

We smiled and thanked him, but there was more fear in his eyes, fear that we humans would forcibly rob him of something.

Compared to the carnivorous taste of the solar system, the Rosa people eat more vegetarian food.

In front of us was a corn-like thing, but it was very soft, and it tasted like meat, and the boss put three of these things for each of us, and also served a bottle of low-alcohol fruit wine.

We don't understand what he said, but from the repeated words, we know that this stick food is called disan, and it is the favorite food of the Rosha people.

After coming out of the first bar, we realized that the Rosha people were so afraid of us. So we went to a few more bars, and we ate and drank without any money, and everyone had a full stomach.

It's just that it's a bit embarrassing, and we all left them a little bit of an energy bar in exchange, which is more than ten times more than Dexan energy.

We returned to the company in the evening and prepared to set off as a group, and I found that our original transport team had expanded considerably.

Kaskinen is a rear transit center, and there are also many soldiers on vacation, they can go to the barracks to eat and watch holographic movies, and we are all fantasizing about when we can have a long vacation, and now this continuous life still makes us a little uncomfortable, and it is much more tiring than the laziness of indulging in various virtual worlds at home before.

But there is another important problem, the temperature in Rocha is very, very cold, about minus 30 degrees now.

And the temperature is still dropping with the winter, and we still have new ultra-thermal underwear and warm boots, but I see that many veterans have been tortured by the power of nature and are not human.

The cold will creep in from every corner you don't expect. The Rosha people are different in that they are naturally hardy, and their hair is a natural thermal underwear.

Now the Human Empire is doing its best to defend the last continent of Kuixing. In Kaskinin and several such transit centers, warehouses are piled up with combat uniforms, helmets, individual missiles, laser guns, dismantling ground-based particle cannons, mecha tanks, and various rations.

Our job is to get these life-saving supplies to the frontline combat units as quickly as possible. We worked as hard as the front-line soldiers, but the entire Kuixing Northern Continent was too big for us to guarantee the safety of every transportation line, and the attrition rate on the way was very large.

Fortunately, our fleet is still in control of low earth orbit, otherwise not only would we be trapped on Kui, but the Rosa people would have been able to attack us directly from space, if then we would have to go underground like gophers.

At this time, the underground of Kuixing is not very peaceful, and the resistance of the Rosa people lurks in the underground system of every city, and we dare not stay overnight in the ruins of any city.
