Chapter 1: Amnesia

Next Chapter

Char opened her eyes and found herself in a small, dilapidated apartment.

It was as if his brain had been torn apart, and there was a sharp pain.

To make matters worse, Char discovers that his mind is blank except for his name.

He had amnesia.

Char gritted her teeth and persevered for a few minutes, waiting for the pain to subside slowly, and then got out of bed and came to the dressing mirror.

In the mirror, a young man of fifteen or sixteen years old appeared, with messy black hair, a thin body, a pale face, and two large dark circles under his eyes, looking sleepy-eyed, as if he had never slept enough.

"Is this me? It looks really sad. ”

Char looked at herself in the mirror and laughed at herself.

There is no doubt that he must have been a man with an extremely irregular schedule and a lack of sleep.

Char's gaze swept across the room, and he first had to figure out who he was and why he had lost his memory.

The room is only a dozen square meters, with a low ceiling, like a coffin, and Char can't even straighten up.

The room is simply furnished, with only a bed, a dining table, a computer, and a grinder in the corner.

Outside the window, there are tall buildings, and colorful neon lights illuminate the night sky as if it were day.

It is a bustling metropolis with high-rise buildings, like a primeval forest made of steel and concrete.

"The latest model of the Lyman company, the atomic-level grinder, crushes the past, protects the secrets, you deserve it!"

A huge three-dimensional image is projected on the skyscraper, a well-dressed middle-aged man. He frothed at the mouth and sold the product, suddenly jumped into the shredder, was shattered into countless points of light, flew into the night sky, turned into a bright galaxy, and finally turned into the huge logo of the Lyman company.

"Third-rate advertising."

Char walked to the window, glanced at the strange bustling city, and felt inexplicable disgust in his heart, and closed the window hard.

Char came to the crusher and crouched down, his fingers twisting the scrap under the shredder.

Obviously, these fragments were Char's past, and now they are in pieces, dissipating like a dream, and cannot be recovered.

Finally, Char's gaze fell on the dining table, where there were two things.

One was an empty white pill bottle with the label torn off and the word "AND" written on it in black marker

The other thing was a fist-sized silver metal ball, a cheap holographic projector.

Char placed his palm on the metal ball, and the ball immediately melted, spreading it on the table like mercury, shooting light from it, and creating a hologram in the air.

Fifteen or sixteen years old, wearing a T-shirt and jeans, pale skin, sleepy eyes, and deep dark circles.

That's Char herself.

The difference is that there is an extra emotion in my eyes in the holographic projection.

Char's body suddenly swelled with a bone-chilling chill.

Fear!

"Listen to me, there's no time to explain! I'm in trouble, big trouble! Curiosity, damn curiosity! ”

Char's hologram eyes wandered, and his gaze kept wandering around the room, as if he was afraid of something.

"Maybe it's still too late! Hope this bottle of medicine will work! ”

He unscrewed the medicine bottle and poured all the white capsules inside into his mouth, his dark eyes flashed with madness, and he roared nervously: "If I can survive by chance, don't pursue the truth!" The truth is meaningless! ”

Burst...

With a soft sound, the holographic projector let out a pop and burst into flames, the pale blue flames turning into a series of complex letters and numbers, and after the last piece of information was transmitted, it was completely destroyed.

The flames lasted only a few seconds, but the intricate letters and numbers were deeply etched in Char's mind.

"I must be a person with a good memory." Char's brows furrowed slightly, and she fell into deep thought.

From what information is known, Char is in big trouble, and he has to take drugs, erase his memories, and restart his life.

Moreover, he does not intend to let his future self pursue the truth, so he destroys all information about the past so as not to fall into this dilemma again.

Judging by the results, Char's plan was a success.

At least he's alive.

The question is, what secrets does a fifteen or sixteen-year-old boy know? Panicked enough to erase memories?

Business intelligence? State secrets?

Char's mind went blank, and he completely forgot about it.

A chill swept through his body again.

Although his brain was forgotten, fear was still engraved in his bone marrow, making him shudder.

Char's head started hurting again. This time it hurt so badly that it was like a sharp knife stirring in the brain.

The pain lasted for a full hour before it slowly subsided, and Char was already sweating profusely and almost collapsed.

"It must be a side effect of the medicine."

Char realizes that if he doesn't do something, he will die in a few days from the terrible side effects of the drug.

Char rubbed her temples, walked to the computer, put her hands on the sensor of the keyboard, and the light screen began to flicker rapidly.

Soon, his consciousness came to a pitch-black space.

This is Char's personal computer space, which is empty because all the previous data has been formatted.

In the center of the space stood a door of light, flickering with a faint light.

Through the light gate, you can enter the vast network virtual world.

It was a world of information and data flows.

It's a place where you can enjoy everything, experience different lives, and the possibilities are endless.

Char typed "AND" into the search engine, and the vast stream of data immediately poured down, like an ocean, drowning him in it.

Faced with such a huge flow of data, Char was at a loss for a while.

After a long time, Char's consciousness was withdrawn from the outer net, and he returned to the dark and empty personal space, gasping for breath and enjoying the rare tranquility.

While the Internet brings convenience, it also floods all corners of the virtual world with a large amount of useless information. Char feels like a scavenger wading through a mountain of garbage, and unless he's lucky, he can't find any valuable information at all.

The faster the speed of information transfer, the more difficult it is for the average person to obtain valuable information.

How ironic!

Coming back to his senses, Char found that in the shadows below the light gate, there seemed to be a dark gate without light looming.

This lightless door felt very familiar to Char, and he subconsciously walked over, stretched out his right hand, and touched the cold door.

This is not an illusion, but a real door, hidden in the shadows beneath the door of light.

"Please enter your account password to gain access to Shadow Street."

The cold electronic sound of the machinery came from inside the lightless door.

"Shadow Street?"

Char froze for a moment, trying to type in the only string of letters and numbers he remembered in his head.

Squeak...

The lightless door slowly opened, and Char came back to his senses to find himself in a dimly lit bar.

The bar is old-fashioned, with oak tables, chairs and counters, an old-fashioned brass gramophone by the fireplace, and a few wizard-looking wizard-looking guys in black robes whispering.

When they found Char suddenly appear at the door of the bar, they immediately cast a surprised look at Char, and soon this surprise turned into consternation, and one of the wizards stood up and pointed at Char, his mouth wide open, and he was speechless in shock.

Char then noticed that he had also changed into a wizard's dress, his robe and hat were white, and unlike the others, his body was shrouded in a faint mist, completely covering his body, full of mystery.

"Welcome back, Hermit-sama, would you like something to drink? The first cup is free. Behind the bar, a tall black bartender was wiping his goblet, staring up at Char, revealing two rows of white teeth.
