Chapter 13: Castle William
"In front is the chapel."
Ander led Char and Suzanne into it, through a deep corridor and through pointed arches that introduced the various areas of Fort William.
Library, garden, kitchen, washroom...
The overall structure of Fort Wilhelm is complex and well-equipped, and many rooms have locked doors and signs prohibiting traffic.
"Most of the area of the castle has not been completed, for the safety of the students, please do not walk around to avoid accidents." Ender pointed to his head, "The terrain here is complicated, but it shouldn't be difficult for you to remember which areas are safe. ”
Char and Suzanne have passed the initial review of the Oneiroi Group, and even if they have not yet become Sequence 1 "readers", they must have excellent memories.
The trio walked up the spiral staircase to the second floor of the castle.
On the wall next to the staircase, there are many oil paintings.
The oil paintings are covered with thick dust and cobwebs, and can be vaguely seen as some figure paintings.
Char walked past these portraits with a furry in her heart.
For some reason, Char sensed that the portraits were alive, and where his vision could not reach, the people in the portraits were staring at him with gloomy eyes, the corners of his mouth turned up, revealing an evil smile.
Char turned his head suddenly, but the portrait hung on the wall of the staircase as usual, and there was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Char, what's the matter?" Ander paused, looked back at Char, and asked.
"Nothing... The head hurts a little. ”
Char began to doubt himself, perhaps because of the after-effects of a headache, making him suspicious.
Char was suspicious of Suzanne before, but it was understandable.
After all, Suzanne did follow Char.
Char, on the other hand, doubted that the portrait on the wall was alive, which was ridiculous.
"Perhaps, I should go to the hospital for a check-up. The banned drug AND may have destroyed a part of my brain..."Char whispered.
"There's no need to worry."
Ander smiled mysteriously, "The Dream Capsule can perfectly solve the sequelae of AND. I have good news that in order to celebrate the arrival of the students, after dinner, everyone will receive a gift. ”
Afterwards, Ander takes Char and Suzanne to their respective rooms.
The size of the guest room is small, but the dome is very high, five or six meters long, and the walls are made of huge obsidian, unpolished, and rough walls.
When William built the castle, it was the servant's room.
The electric lights on the walls are in the shape of retro kerosene lamps, and most of the light is absorbed by obsidian, making the room look a little dim.
Being able to stay away from the noise of advertising and the light pollution of neon lights day and night, Char felt a glimmer of peace that had not been seen for a long time.
He couldn't remember his childhood.
However, this tranquility felt strange to Char.
Char rested in bed for ten minutes when there was a knock on the door.
Char opened the door, and outside the door was a blonde girl.
The girl is not very old, her face is scattered with some freckles, and her smile is cute: "You are Char, my name is Kaisha, and I came a day before you." Dinner is ready to begin, and I'll take you to the banquet hall. ”
"Thank you." Char nodded, and walked with Kai'Sa towards the banquet hall.
The ballroom is located on the second floor of the castle, some distance from the guest rooms.
Following Kaisha, Char looked at Fort William again.
The castle didn't feel good to Char.
Gloomy and depressing, all the buildings are incomparably tall, giving Char a sense of insignificance in her heart.
The ancient architecture always gives Char the illusion that he is isolated from the world and has returned to the distant Second Age.
"The Second Age..."
Char recalls the Second Age in the history books.
It was an extremely distant time.
It's been a millennium now.
The people of that era, who were good at magic and witchcraft.
In fact, most people living in this era do not believe in the existence of the Second Age at all, let alone in any magic.
It wasn't until the relics and relics of the Second Age were unearthed by archaeologists that it was believed that there was a powerful magical civilization on Earth that was once unparalleled before technological civilization.
"Dream building, in the Second Age, may be a kind of magic." Char thought to herself.
In fact, most magic can be explained by science.
Each civilization may have a different starting point and process, but the end point is the same.
The ballroom is the largest restaurant in Fort Wilhelm, with a soaring dome and a huge crystal chandelier hanging from above, illuminating the hall with brilliant lights.
The table is twenty-five meters long, and Ander sits in the center of the long table in a tuxedo and bow tie.
On Ender's left and right flanks sat four teenagers and girls, and Suzanne was among them.
Others were dressed up and behaved elegantly, like nobles from famous families.
Susanna's purple hair is messy, her makeup is rebellious, and she looks out of place.
But Suzanne didn't care, still wearing headphones and immersed herself in rock music.
The others cast curious glances at Char.
Char sat down on the boy's side as he watched.
Ander waved his hand, and immediately a robot maid brought the delicate dish.
"This is a robot?"
Char looked at the robot maid curiously, but what attracted him more was the dishes on the table.
Foie gras, grilled lamb chops, red wine...
These foods, which will only appear on the table of high society, appear in front of Char.
The rich aroma made Char's index finger move, and he couldn't help but drool.
For Char, who had been hungry for two whole days, it was as if he was in heaven at the moment.
"Oneiroi Group, it's really wealthy." Char secretly said in his heart, "Ander is just a bionic person, and he belongs to the middle level of the Oneiroi Group, so he can arrange such a luxurious feast. What kind of flashy life are the directors at the helm of the Oneiroi Group? ”
Ander folded his hands and closed his eyes, as if praying to the gods.
After a few seconds, Ander finished praying and announced, "Let's have dinner first, and then I have something important to announce." ”
Char couldn't bear it anymore, grabbed the grilled lamb chops in front of him and devoured them.
Char's savage eating like a starving ghost stunned the young people around him, and they all showed disdain.
For a while, Char, like Susanna, was isolated by the other students.
While enjoying dinner politely, they exchanged their experiences of today's learning.
Suzanne didn't use her knife and fork, she didn't look hungry, and she fell into the sea of music by herself.
Char, on the other hand, fights with food wholeheartedly, stuffing it into his mouth so that every cell in his body is filled with the full satisfaction of eating.
