Chapter 63: The Battle of the Storm
The battleships around sounded their whistles and slowly sailed towards the "Blackstone" that was undulating in the waves.
"It's not a moment of peace, Draenor, get up!"
Draenor heard Viklico's urging and struggled to get up on the deck, his brain still dizzy from the lack of oxygen, and he could barely hear the whistle that surrounded him.
"Jeanne! Go to the dungeon and let those innocent outlanders out, Cooper! You go to the cockpit and figure out how to get this big guy moving! Draenor and I went to the cabin battery to find a way to get rid of the haunting guys! β
Vikiriko thrust her spear back behind her and sprinted down toward the deck's cabin.
"What? Where do you have the strength to run so fast? Draenor followed her breathlessly, the girl was a humanoid monster with frozen energy, and she had the strength to run as fast as a rabbit after such a big battle.
Draenor followed her around the side wall of the deck, revealing a spacious combat cabin.
The combat compartment consists of nine walls, each of which is inlaid with transparent glass with an area of nearly one square meter, and several metal devices in the shape of an inverted "T" are hung on the roof around it.
Vickyli didn't bother to explain to Draenor, she got up and leaned against the window, and countless shadows were coming towards this side despite the torrential rain, it was the battleships that had spread out on the sea.
"It seems that the situation is not optimistic, they should have noticed the commotion coming from the 'Blackstone', although there is nothing that seems to be used as a communication device, but it is only a matter of time before suspicion is aroused." Vicky said as she slowly pushed to the center of the combat pod, looking up at the strange inverted "T" shaped device.
"It's the first time I've used such a device in real combat, but it's much easier to say if it was designed by a Sadro."
She jumped to her feet and grabbed one of the devices, which looked like a machine designed for combat use, and was pulled vertically in front of Viklico.
"Why are you still stunned? Hurry up and pull it down! β
Draenor was urged by Vicilico, and he quickly reached out and grabbed the lever of the two stages of the device, pulling it in front of him.
"This is the lever of the side gun, just leave the broken iron pieces under your feet for now, and now, aim your head at the middle lens."
Draenor saw the round glass in the center of the lever, and as Vikirico had said, he pressed his head close to the lever, his right eye clearly seeing the ship approaching the side of the ship through the lens.
"See the scale in the center? Point the top of it at the boat and give me that pedal hard! β
The thing turned more difficult than expected, and Draenor flipped the lever, aimed the carved horizontal line at the opposite ship, and slammed the metal pedal at his feet.
"Boom-boom!!!"
There was a blinding glare in the lens, and he quickly closed his right eye, only to see that the sea in front of him was blazing with fire, and a battleship was hit by a flying cannonball, and it instantly became fragmented.
"Even the shells were made by the Saderos, what is the origin of this ship?" Vikily said as she looked at the spectacular scene in front of her.
"Don't worry about it so much, it's three o'clock again!" Draenor pointed out the window on the right-hand side and shouted, only to see four or five smaller warships slowly approaching the sea at the stern of the ship.
"Stay calm! We were on the main ship, and they didn't know that the ship had changed hands, so they wouldn't open fire until they figured out the situation. The cockpit is at the end of the stairs straight out, I'll take care of this, you go see what the hell Cooper is up to! β
The Blackstone remained motionless on the surface, and Vicili was visibly impatient, and Draenor rushed out of the war room and down the stairs towards the cockpit.
Inside the cabin was a large metal chimney, and the four corners of the room were filled with large pieces of crystal, and Cooper was standing by the furnace that was filled with crystals, reaching for something.
"Huh? Blue-haired boy, you're just in time, come and help me pull this damn wrench! Cooper turned and shouted at Draenor. He couldn't laugh or cry that Cooper had spent so much time in the cockpit because he couldn't reach the valves on the walls.
Draenor ran up to him, reaching out and pulling the metal valve downward, the iron furnace's guard tilted downward, and the ryzol slid into the base of the steaming chimney.
"Alright, now rip off the tab on your right!"
He followed Cooper's instructions and jerked the metal tab down on the side. A deafening roar sounded outside the cabin, and there was a shaking from the bottom of the cabin, and the battleship slowly moved on the surface of the sea.
Cooper sat down on the ground by inertia, and he quickly grabbed the shovel at hand and shoveled the crystals under the stove.
"Mr. Delaenau! The people in captivity were so emotional that I couldn't understand their language! Jeanne's voice appeared at the top of the stairs, and Draenau's head almost exploded.
"Alright, Jeanne, you can help Cooper, and I'll go down the dungeon and have a look!"
He didn't have time to wait for Jeanne's reply as he rushed up the stairs and ran along the other deck.
"Damn, how big is this ship? Is it really of the same era as us? Draenor had been running for at least half a minute before he could barely see the tip of the deck, and he leaned against the door frame of the cabin, turned and ran down the dungeon.
Draenor finally saw the candlelight in the dungeon below, the cold wind and rain being sucked into his lungs, and his chest was almost frozen into ice.
The lower dungeon in front of me was overwhelmed by cries, and the ragged people hid in their cages, twitching and not moving.
"Demons! The demon hurry away! Don't come over here! The crowd in the cage saw Draenor approaching and screamed and retreated to the back of the cage.
"Hey, I was locked up with you just now, and you're what they call 'outlanders', aren't you? I'm from Eichenryder, and I'm human like you! β
Draenor comforted the crowd in Dori, and when they heard the familiar language, they finally let their guard down a little, and scrutinized Draenor from the edge of the cage.
"Eichenryder? He does have an accent! β
"I remember him, in prison with us, the one the girl rescued!"
"Human, he's human too! Brother, help us! β
The crowd finally believed in Draenor's identity and quickly knelt on the ground and prayed.
"Don't worry, the demons on the ship have been eliminated by us, and now the situation on the sea is very serious, so follow me quickly if you can still move your hands and feet!" Draenor tried to muster men, but the people in front of him seemed indifferent.
"Impossible, we'll soon be hung on the meat rack and turned into a devil's dinner......"
"It's too late, it's too late!"
"Damn ......" Draenor had enough of the cowardly crowd, but couldn't prove the situation to them in a word.
They were ordinary people, very different from Draenor as a soldier, who had been imprisoned in this hell for an unknown amount of time, exhausted by nightmares.
But what soldier was not an ordinary man?
Remembering the morale-boosting oath he had made on the battlefield, Draenor raised his dagger and slammed the hilt of his sword against the stone slab used to sharpen it, the roar of war drums echoing through the dungeon.
"Freedom will not come to you in person, those who want to live will follow! Humanity will fight to the end! β
Some of them heard Draenor's encouragement and crawled out of the cage and stood up tremblingly.
"Brother, we believe what you say, the crisis is imminent, rather than waiting to be slaughtered, it is better to die with honor!" One of the old men who had climbed out of the cage straightened his back and turned to shout to the crowd.
"Humanity will fight to the end!"
"Humanity will fight to the end!"
More and more people crawled out of their cages, and they stood firmly by Draenor's side, ready to fight to the death.
"Follow me to the deck! Don't let those demonic ships get close! Boosting morale, Draenor led the men to turn and rush up the stairs, hurtling down the deck towards the war room.
"Vicky! We're all in this together! β
Vikirico heard a shout in her ear, and Draenor was leading the crowd toward the war room.
"We're about to be within their range, hurry!"
As Viklico instructed the group to use the joystick, several flames suddenly flashed from the sea, and with a violent impact, the "Blackstone" began to shake violently.
"They've called, listen to meβ"
The people obeyed Viklico's command and aimed the control sticks of the turret at the attacking ships on both sides.
"Fire !!!!"
Everyone stepped on the pedal suddenly, and countless fires burst out around the "Blackstone", and the powerful recoil pushed the "Blackstone" more than ten meters away.
The cannonballs hit the battleships around them, and the sea exploded with blazing fireworks, and one by one the battleships gradually disintegrated and slowly sank into the rough sea.
No naval battle ever seen in Canaan could compare to the spectacle before the sight. None of the warships had sails, and it seemed that mechanical power alone was enough to gallop across the sea, and the shells did not need to be manually loaded...... Do these technologies really exist in the same era as themselves?
"Draenor! We're going to hold it for now, so let's get Cooper up the momentum! The enemy is still coming! β
Now was not the time to be stunned, Delano took a stride into the power room, Jeanne and Cooper were already exhausted. He snatched the shovel from Jeanne and drove Cooper's rhythm to fill the incinerator with crystals.
Like a roaring beast, the Blackstone pushed the sea open with full power, breaking the waves towards the distant shoreline.
The crowd, under the command of Viklico, constantly resisted the incoming battleship.
The outline of the coast is gradually clear, the dark clouds are slowly dissipating, the horizon is once again bright, a new day is coming, victory is close at hand!
