"I will finish the book in early May, well, I can take a little rest during the May Day holiday, revise the unpublished manuscript a little, and my hair."
I thought this three months ago, but from the beginning of the work on the shelves, I made a naïve decision for some reason: I would never get a haircut until the book was finished.
Therefore, in the process of writing "Children of the Moon", there were long split hairs on the desk except for the antelope brain and the teacup, and the party invited by relatives and friends almost did not go once, firstly, because the image was a little unsatisfactory, and secondly, because the journey belonging to us and Draenor had not yet reached the end......
As a digression, let's go here first, the background and original intention of the birth of a book:
The conclusion of "Moonchild" was decided from the time the outline was formed, and in fact, the worldview of the book was already in shape six years ago (yes, as early as when I first came into contact with "Cthulhu").
Steampunk, magic and alchemy, the occult and Cthulhu elements are the main colors that make up the "Dream Li" painting, and even some oriental elements such as Chinese herbs have been tried to add some Chinese herbs, so that a complex and new worldview is worth pondering.
In the long process of entanglement, I tried to add a lot of characters and corresponding backstories, from various continents (including the Canaanite countries, Vlaktu, Abel, and the "New World" continent mentioned in the book, etc.), characters of different identities and races embarked on their own journeys because of a certain opportunity, but came together because they witnessed the existence of "mysterious and greatness"......
I even drew a map of the continents of Flactu and Abel, but Canaan, the largest in terms of geographical area, didn't have to worry too much about it (just retranslated the names of the places in their own languages according to the ancient names...... )
Then, the stories written in the past were kneaded into beads, and the necklace of "Dream Dawn" was strung with "The Princesses of Nikanos" and "The Canaanites Who Rose from the Dead".
From the beginning of the fantasy to the deepening, the stranger who had embarked on a journey to unravel the curse unearths the miracle that has befallen him, and at the same time, he realizes the existence of something beyond his imagination, is the enemy of mankind really a beast? Or is it all just a ridiculous nightmare?
So, under the guidance of the exorcist Rao, the stranger finally looked directly at his fear, took a step, and stepped into the abyss of dreams......
Mystery and reality are intertwined, darkness and dawn coexist, numbness and truth are rubbed, and courage and fear are probably the most contradictory themes that "Dawn of Dreams" has always been.
Actually, I don't want the reader to feel too much repression, or that it does exist, but it's not the kind of horror story that sets the mood around. It is more like a stage, a fog that makes the beauty of humanity a stage for opera, and a fog that makes the light of hope appear precious.
Second, some changes made before the end of the day:
The end of June and July was planned from the beginning, because the original plan was to write about 700,000 words according to the contract to publish the final article. But even with plenty of preparation time and a dozen copies in a row, I still have to admit that some of the story content was deleted.
Before making an official ending plan, I actually added a lot of story content to the book, such as Draenor's relationship with the royal family of Nagasus, the living conditions of the survivors of Luna Omon, etc., but considering that most of them are side content, I simply cut some of them.
However, it is inevitable that there will be some sudden acceleration of progress, which is also determined by the fact that after careful consideration, the content of the previous volumes has been able to describe the general background in detail. For example, Luna Omon was originally part of the Daredevil civilization, and the general background was already mentioned at the beginning of "Origin Dust", so there is no need to deliberately describe the living conditions of the survivors, and it is undoubtedly a better choice to focus on the psychological changes of the protagonist himself.
I believe that there will inevitably be doubts among readers, such as about Jeanne's final ending, what will happen to Victorico in the future, and the final changes in Draenau. Of course, something as slightly abstract as "Chapter 285" does seem a bit elusive.
So, as for the side plots, endings, and the like, I've prepared the best solution: use the second protagonist Vekily as the axis, and fill the last stroke on this scroll, that is, as the end of the special chapter.
And after doing this, according to the unresolved foreshadowing and story background left in the book, the appearance of the second part is also inevitable, but I do need to take a good rest for a while, the epidemic has disrupted the original study abroad plan, and the pressure of work and study is really a bit overwhelming...... Therefore, the plan for the second part will inevitably be postponed.
At the very least, a special chapter and a final chapter will be added after the release of the "Testimonial", and the endings of several important characters will be narrated, so stay tuned!
What follows is self-criticism and review:
In fact, before I officially wrote the book, I considered creating a "substitute sub" for readers in the most familiar ways for the public. In the end, he wrote the beginning of "Shipwreck and Resurrection" in his own way.
It's not deliberately to be different, I actually thought that the biggest feature of online articles is that they can follow the trend, such as "reincarnation", "crossing" and other beginnings...... But I have to admit that I really lack this endowment, and I can't perfectly solve the contradiction between "surreality" and "reality", so as many readers say, "unfold the story in a style that is more like a physical book".
Instead, I prefer to write stories in a real-time game style, where both the voiceover and the content of the plot are as much as possible based on what the protagonist sees and feels. And the plot direction is indeed very similar to some games, the fate of any NPC and even the inconspicuous environment will be completely changed by the decision of the protagonist, such as:
1. Rescuing Yelena from the traffickers, while also bringing hope for the escape of Yakov and Moran;
2. When he sent Cooper away, he insisted that the knights of Kerton escort him away, which invisibly prompted Uncle Dwarf and Moran and others to meet, and indirectly contributed to the reunion of the brothers and sisters of Yelena and Yakov.
These decisions do not seem to constitute a strict logic to the development of the side plot, because the factors that contribute to these outcomes are more like an invisible "moral point" and "goodness". All in all, this slightly new approach does enhance the authenticity of the story.
Maybe these can also be regarded as the characteristics of an author's style, right?
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all the editors and teachers for their hard work, and thank you for your continued help! Thanks also to other writers for their noble advice! And I hope you can reap the happiness you deserve in your future work!
Finally, I would like to sincerely thank all the readers who have accompanied me along the way, thank you for the good luck you have brought me, thank you for your rewards and subscriptions, and hope that I am such an inconspicuous "dream maker" who has also brought you a wonderful and beautiful story.
If you have the opportunity to visit Vlactu in person, the beautiful puppet Stella will treat you like this:
"The dawn is approaching, and the dreams are about to disperse. We can drink coffee or black tea and play two rounds of Prood cards, what do we think? Kind outlander? ”
