The first sentence of the opening chapter of "The Mean": The predicate of the mandate of heaven is sex, and the predicate of recklessness is the Tao.

In other words, the natural character of a person is called nature, and acting according to nature is called monasticism.

This 'nature' is indistinguishable from good and evil.

Therefore, it is the path of cultivation for good people to do good, and it is also for evil people to do evil.

Because they all understand their 'true nature' and then follow their nature.

If my heart is evil, then doing evil is naturally in accordance with my nature.

For cultivators, cultivating the Tao is cultivating the mind, and as long as the mind is clear, cultivation can naturally lead to a thousand miles in a day.

If you let a good person do evil, you will definitely have a bad mind. If you let the wicked do good, you will also have trouble thinking about it.

Doing things contrary to one's nature in this way is tantamount to going against the path, and how can one achieve success in cultivation?

All things are born in nature, and they are divided into yin and yang.

There is good and evil in heaven and earth, and both are Tao.

Heaven and earth are unkind, and all things are used as dogs.

There is no difference between good and evil for the Great Dao.

The difference is for people.

Our artificial definition of merit for good is actually a misinterpretation of the meaning of merit.

Knowing these truths, Li Yizhi suddenly realized that his so-called martial arts beliefs and so-called grand aspirations were actually the process of realizing merit and the process of making his thoughts clear.

Knowing the mind is merit, and thinking is virtue.

Li Yizhi's belief in martial arts and his ambition are actually in his mind.

And to achieve it step by step, it is to let his thoughts be clear.

If you can't complete it, then your thoughts are not smooth, and your cultivation will naturally not be able to grow.

Even, if someone can be born with a good mind, they don't need to read or cultivate, and they can directly become holy.

Because there is no hindrance in his thoughts, he has already incarnated and attained enlightenment.

This is actually the same truth as the Buddhists say, 'put down the butcher's knife and become a Buddha on the spot'.

It's just that life is in heaven and earth, with all kinds of ties and obsessions, like countless ropes, firmly trapped in the body, unable to break free, how can you be able to reach the mind!

Why did Taoism flourish in the primeval period?

A large part of the reason is that the human heart at that time was simple, and it was naturally suitable for cultivation.

"There is no goodness and no disgusting body, there is good and malicious action. Knowing good and knowing evil is conscience, and doing evil for good is a thing. ”

Li Yizhi suddenly thought of Wang Yangming's four mental aphorisms, isn't it also talking about the way of merit!

Knowing good and knowing evil is conscience, which is to see nature in the clear mind;

Doing evil for the sake of good is a matter of character, and this is the way of cultivation.

This is not contrary to the path of merit, because 'evil' is not Wang Yangming's nature.
