Chapter 1: Nightmares
Yang Ke was lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling with bloodshot eyes, and the sheets on his back were already wet.
He glanced at the time on his phone, and it was just one o'clock in the morning.
After several days of nightmares, he couldn't sleep well, so much so that his mental condition has started to go wrong lately.
He often dozes off at work, can't concentrate during meetings, and is caught by the leader more than once for desertion.
Yang Ke turned on the lamp and picked up the sleeping pills on the bedside table, he had opened Baile Sleep before but it didn't work, I hope he can sleep well this time.
After taking sleeping pills, Yang Ke changed the wet sheets and lay down again.
He didn't turn off the lamp, but looked at the floater projection in the pale yellow light in a daze.
"If I had that nightmare again this time, I would never run away again."
The effect of sleeping pills was very obvious, and it didn't take long for Yang Ke to close his eyes heavily.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself sitting in the creaking rocking chair again, back in the familiar and unfamiliar study.
"It's this damn nightmare again!"
On the old desk was a thick, half-open book filled with words that Yang Ke didn't recognize, and next to it was a dimly lit kerosene lamp, the flame in which it seemed to be extinguished at any moment.
The pendulum clock on the wall ticks incessantly, but the hour and minute hands are always pointed at twelve o'clock, and only the second hand keeps taking one step forward and one step back, click, click, click......
There was a pool of bloodstains on the ground, and it smelled disgusting.
Several books that had fallen from the shelves were scattered on the ground, and one of the books that had fallen in blood had even been dyed an eerie black.
Yang Ke is very sure that what he is doing now is still the same nightmare as before, and the placement of various things in the study has not changed in the slightest.
This means that the monster will also appear.
Yang Ke noticed that the door of the study was wide open, and secretly said badly, hurriedly rushed over to close the door, and then quickly plugged in everything that could be plugged in.
Although he said before he went to bed that he would not run away this time, even if he was in a dream, let him find a weapon to deal with monsters first.
It's just that there is nothing in the study that can be used as a weapon, except for a cane hanging next to the desk.
But that crutch doesn't have any sharp parts, what can it be used for? Tickle the monster?
A low wheezing sound suddenly came from outside the door, so frightened that Yang Ke hurriedly covered his mouth and nose, not daring to make a sound.
Judging from his previous dreams, it was a hairy humanoid monster with a very sharp nose and quick movements, and Yang Ke couldn't outrun it at all.
At the same time, the monster's forelimbs have long sharp claws, and wooden doors like the study can be easily torn apart.
So until the right weapon is found, he must not be discovered by monsters.
Yang Ke held his breath and heard the wheezing sound outside the door getting closer and closer, and he could even smell the foul smell emanating from the other party, which was worse than the pool of blood on the ground.
Fortunately, the monster stayed at the door for a while, and then left.
Yang Ke breathed a sigh of relief and returned to his desk to pick up the black cane.
Either way, it's better to have something in your hand than nothing.
The crutch is pitch black and has no patterns on it.
The crutches felt slightly heavy in his hand, which surprised Yang Ke.
This heaviness is obviously not something that ordinary wood can achieve.
Just when Yang Ke wanted to study what was different about this crutch, there was a sudden loud bang, and the door of the study seemed to be smashed by something.
Yang Ke was so frightened that he went into cardiac arrest for a moment, and hurriedly hid behind the desk, holding his cane with trembling hands.
What's the situation, didn't the monster leave?
Did it find someone in the study?
Damn, if it rushes in, fight with it!
Boom!
The door to the study was slammed again, this time directly into a crack.
Yang Ke saw a cold-blooded and crazy eye from the crack, it was the eye of a monster!
The moment he made eye contact with that eye, Yang Ke realized that he had been exposed.
He can't hide anymore, he has to fight back!
At this moment, the crutches that Yang Ke was holding tightly with both hands suddenly clicked, as if he had turned on a switch, and then he actually pulled out a thin sword from the crutches!
It's a weapon!
Yang Ke's eyes lit up, and the appearance of the thin sword finally made him muster up his courage.
He rushed to the door, and stabbed his sword into the crack, into the monster's eye.
"Whew!"
The monster's terrible screams sounded outside the door, and Yang Ke took the opportunity to open the door and stabbed the sword into the monster's chest again.
Yang Ke had had more than one close encounter with this monster, but this was the first time that he had reversed himself.
"Let you disturb Lao Tzu's sleep, and give me a !! death"
Yang Ke vented all the pent-up anger for a long time, and forcibly pushed the monster half a body taller than him down the second floor.
But the monster's vitality was much more tenacious than Yang Ke had imagined, and it quickly struggled to get up, staring at Yang Ke with its only remaining eye.
The monster bared its moost fangs, and its hair exploded as if it had static electricity.
Just when Yang Ke didn't understand what it wanted to do, the monster suddenly jumped up and smashed into the second floor like a bomb.
Boom!
Because the monster lost an eye, it didn't hit Yang Ke this time, but deflected its direction, smashed the wall, and crashed into the study.
Looking at the big hole in the wall of the study that was smashed out raw, a cold sweat broke out on Yang Ke's back.
It's terrifying!
Yang Ke realized that he was definitely not an opponent of monsters in a head-on conflict, and he had to find a way to create the attack conditions just now.
There happened to be another room next to the study, so he opened the door and entered, and then quickly slammed the door in from the inside.
This room has a double bed, and a wardrobe, and is clearly a bedroom.
However, Yang Ke was not in the mood to explore, he stood at the door, very nervously waiting for the monster to hit.
The monster soon reappeared in the doorway, and its anger could be heard in its piercing roar, but strangely enough, no matter how much the monster roared, it just wouldn't bang on the door.
Could it be that there is something special about this room?
Yang Ke waited at the door for a while, and after making sure that the monster really had no intention of hitting the door, he looked at the room suspiciously.
Like the first thing Yang Ke saw when he entered, the layout of this bedroom was very simple, with only a double bed, a one-person high mirror, and a wardrobe.
Is it the room itself that keeps the monster from entering, or is there something here that makes it feel jealous?
Yang Ke came to the wardrobe, hesitated slightly, and then opened the wardrobe.
There was nothing but a black bowler hat and a long men's trench coat.
Yang Ke looked at the clothes in the closet, and then at the crutch and thin sword in his hand, and seemed to have some understanding.
Perhaps the monster was afraid of the smell of the garment.
Anyway, try it and find out.
Yang Ke took out a black trench coat and top hat from the closet and put them on himself, and then re-sheathed the crutch and sword.
He felt for the pocket of his trench coat and pulled out a quaint metal pendant with a small glass bottle embedded in the metal ring of the pendant, and there was some red liquid in it.
Yang Ke took it in his hand and shook it, and the red liquid in it shook like ordinary water.
Without much thought, he hung the pendant around his neck, then went to the mirror and sorted out his image.
Yang Ke is twenty-five years old this year, one meter eighty meters tall, although his figure is not perfect, but at least from the appearance, he belongs to the sturdy kind, and friends often call him a hanger, because many clothes worn on him will give people the illusion of tailor-made.
For example, this trench coat now fits his figure perfectly.
Yang Ke's appearance is relatively resolute, and he belongs to the kind of tough handsome guy, but in the past few days, he has no heart to take care of himself because of nightmares, so his chin has some stubble, which makes him look a little decadent.
But today, his nightmare has finally developed for the better.
The monster outside the door kept roaring, trying to scare Yang Ke out of it.
But it never dared to get too close to the door.
At this moment, the bedroom door slowly opened, and the monster immediately revealed its fierce appearance, ready to bite him to pieces when the other party came out.
A low roar like a car motor came from the monster's throat, but as the door opened, its roar grew lower.
When the door was completely opened, the monster saw Yang Ke in front of him wearing a black trench coat, a black cane, and a black top hat, and suddenly showed a frightened expression.
"Wow~"
