Chapter 526: People can always be quiet
Nian Fu said: "Brother Xiao, did you just say that Sun Simiao is also a Taoist priest?" ”
Xiao Tianshu said: "Yes! He lived to be 142 years old! When he was seventy years old, after Tang Taizong ascended the throne, he summoned Sun Simiao to Chang'an, the capital of Beijing, and saw that he was in his 70s and could look like a teenager in his complexion, body shape and gait, and sighed very much, and said: "Therefore, people with Tao are really worthy of respect!" Characters like Xianmen and Guangchengzi turned out to be in the world, how could they be lies? "Taizong wanted to grant Sun Simiao the title, but he refused, and still returned to the countryside to treat the people."
Nian Fu smiled and said: "Sure enough, it's a Taoist priest, looking at the posture of immortality, which is something that ordinary people can't do, and with medical skills and health preservation, can you still live long......
Xiao Tianshu said: "He divided diseases into four categories according to whether they can be cured: the first category is "cured without treatment; , the second category is "must be cured and healed", the third category is "although it is difficult to heal", and the fourth category is "true death is not cured". In his view, most diseases can be cured, he said: "Good doctors guide them with medicine stones, save them with injections, saints and virtues, supplemented by personnel, so that the body has curable diseases, and heaven and earth have disasters that can be eliminated." "The life is still there, the shape has not changed, the disease has not been treated, the injection and medicine are timely, the joints can be regulated, entrusted to a good doctor, and the disease is cured." This kind of thinking, which emphasizes the subjective role of human beings, is a positive and correct view of medicine, which motivates people to be proactive and enterprising. ”
Nian Fu said: "From this point of view, the various theories and techniques of Taoist treatment and health care are a precious spiritual wealth in the treasure of world civilization and are worth carrying forward. On this basis, we will learn from the strengths of Western medicine, complement each other, and strive for excellence, which will make more newer contributions to modern medical civilization. ”
Xiao Tianshu said: "When refining the elixir of "immortality", the people in the Daomen pay attention to the appropriate climate, time, geographical location, etc. Therefore, most of the people in the Daomen pay attention to the observation and study of natural phenomena, and are enthusiastic about the exploration of the mysterious changes in the natural world, such as the "Daozang" There are many works that reflect the activities of the people in the Daomen to observe the heaven and earth, such as the "Taishang Cave Xuanbao Yuan Shangjing" is mainly the observation record of celestial bodies, stars and earth phenomena; "Yuyang Climate Pro-Machine" is mainly an observation and description of cloud and rain meteorology. The observation of the heavens led to astronomical knowledge, and some Taoist priests were also famous astronomers, such as the famous Taoist Li Chunfeng of the Tang Dynasty, who was an outstanding astronomer of the time. Li Chunfeng is well-read and knowledgeable, and is particularly proficient in astronomy and calendars. He was commissioned to compile the Lin De Calendar, which took more than 60 years to compile in the Tang Dynasty, and he also wrote the Astronomical Chronicles, the Chronicles of the Law and the Chronicles of the Five Elements in the Book of Jin and the Book of Sui, making outstanding contributions to the accumulation and development of Chinese astronomical knowledge. ”
According to relevant research, the Taoist priest's "Five Mountains True Map" has the earliest contour line drawing method in cartography, and the "Five Mountains True Map" is indeed related to the actual topography and landform of the Five Mountains, which can roughly reflect the local topography and path, and can be said to be the ancient map of the Five Mountains with unique value depicted by the ancient Taoist priests.
Nian Fu said: "In addition, in the process of practicing the idea of 'my life is in my absence', Taoist priests have also made great contributions to the accumulation and development of knowledge in such disciplines as mineralogy, chemistry, physical education, nutrition, health preservation, sexual psychology, sexual medicine, martial arts, and the art of war in our country. It can be said that without the accumulation of scientific knowledge by Taoist priests, there would be no science and technology we have today. Starting from the standpoint of human existence, Taoism is fully aware of the relationship between man and the natural environment, and emphasizes the maintenance of harmony between human beings and the natural environment, which has positive practical significance and guiding role for us to maintain the human living environment. Taoism believes that "all things are negative yin and embrace yang, and impulse is harmony", and all things are composed of yin and yang, and they are interconnected and harmonious. At the same time, he also believes that all things have their own nature, and they should conform to the nature of things and let all things develop naturally. The Taiping Sutra says: "The nature of heaven and earth, all things have their own suitability." The famous Taoist priest Cheng Xuanying said in the "Commentary on the Nanhua Sutra": "With the nature of creation, the nature of nature, there is no room for private spells, measures to govern it, let it go, then everything is complete." ”
He believes that people should follow the principle of "heaven does nothing, let things be natural" and let the universe develop naturally. This principle of laissez-faire and free development is embodied in the relationship between human beings and the natural environment, which requires people to prohibit the cutting down of mountains and forests, the prohibition of hunting birds and animals, the prohibition of nesting and egg collection, and the prohibition of indiscriminate dumping of sewage, so as to maintain the perfect harmony of the universe in nature. This viewpoint of safeguarding the ecological environment has a prominent reference role for us today in preventing and solving the problems of the deteriorating ecological environment, the depletion of natural resources, and the frequent occurrence of natural disasters. If our ancestors who lived at a low level of productivity still knew how to maintain the natural environment on which human beings depended, do we living in the high-tech information age have no reason to strive for maintaining ecological balance and maintaining harmony between human beings and the natural environment?
Xiao Tianshu said: "In order to achieve the ultimate goal of prolonging life and even immortality and ascending to immortality, Taoist priests have formulated a series of life behavior patterns in dealing with people and things, and the basic spirit that runs through these behavior patterns is tranquility and lack of desire. Taoism believes that tranquility is the realm of attainment of the "true path", and desire is the obstacle to attaining the realm of enlightenment. "The Sutra of Tranquility" says: "People can always be quiet, and heaven and earth are all returned", "Mrs. is so clear and disturbed by her heart, and her heart is quiet and wants to be involved, and she can often send her desires and calm her heart, and clear her heart and clear her mind." Therefore, Taoism has a strict and critical attitude towards human desires. "Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching River Official Seal Sentences" said: "Nothing is greater than desire, nothing is greater than discontentment, and nothing is greater than desire." Therefore, contentment is always sufficient. "Emphasis on contentment and few desires. "The Sutra of Western Ascension" is even more severe criticism of human desires, "For the Tao Zhang" said: "The desire, the root of evil; Nothing, the origin of heaven and earth. I don't know the roots, I don't know the source. The saint goes to the desire and enters nothing, so as to supplement his body. ”
Nian Fu said with a smile: "In order to maintain the survival of the individual and the development of society, appropriate desires are necessary. However, the insatiable desire of human beings, the indulgence of desires, and the unsatisfied pursuit of material wealth and sensual pleasures will lead to antagonism between people, lead to the rupture of the harmonious relationship between human beings and nature, and deepen today's global ecological dilemma. Therefore, in order to maintain harmony between people and between humans and nature, so that human society can continue to develop, so that everyone can live in a harmonious and peaceful environment, we must control our desires within a reasonable range and not let them overflow. In this regard, Taoism's proposition of being quiet and having few desires has a direct reference role for our modern people in forming a correct concept of fame and fortune. ”
