Chapter 9: The Mysterious River of Light
Not long after they entered the forest, night had already fallen. The forest is so dense that it's hard to see the sky when you look up, and it's full of overlapping foliage. But even in such darkness, the child's pace did not stop at all, and he always walked slowly and leisurely. Moye couldn't help but be surprised: "In the dark forest, can you see the road?"
"It's natural, we're all the same. Again, the child took it for granted, as if it wasn't worth making a fuss about.
Demon Ye's heart was shocked, and he was surprised again: "You even know this......"
If the child only sees the halo around him, it is easy to understand, because this is a phenomenon that appears on the surface of the body. But if even his visual abilities were clear, things would not be so simple, and it is no wonder that the child would say that the day and night of the forest are the same. Just now, Moye failed to grasp the true meaning of that sentence, and then slowly recalled it and realized that in fact, many of the seemingly simple words that the child said earlier often contained the meaning of insight into everything, and he carelessly thought that it was just the innocence and willfulness of a child.
Since his night vision ability is not a secret in front of the child at all, Mono simply stopped hiding it from himself, and asked curiously, "How do you know?"
"Naturally, you know. The child replied.
He was always like this, saying something that sounded simple but was actually incomprehensible. Realizing this, Mono had to start patiently pondering the true meaning of it, instead of treating children's words as irrelevant fairy tales as before.
Although they are able to see at night without any obstacles, the forest still looks much darker at night than during the day due to the lack of sunlight. In addition to tall trees, rocks, shrubs, and brambles were everywhere, and there was no normal road to be found. The most troublesome thing is that the dense foliage obscures the night sky, making it difficult to discern directions in the forest. Mono didn't know where the alien was at all, so he could only follow the child. The only thing that was fortunate was that the beasts that had worried him before seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep, and they did not come out to disturb them once.
Mono thought for a while, and felt that he needed to confirm with the children that they were not wasting their time now, so he asked, "You know where they are, right?"
"I don't know. The child replied.
"What, you don't know you're still walking?" This forest is so vast that if you get lost, you don't know when you will be able to get out of it. He crouched down, looked at the child, and wondered, "You don't seem to be worried about getting lost at all?"
"There's nothing to worry about, just walk around and you'll know. The child replied nonchalantly.
Mono hung his head wordlessly and sighed, he had no idea at all. The forest was so much bigger than it was imagined that there was no end to it, but now it was impossible to go back the way it came. Now that he's made it here, maybe he should put away his worries and trust the child's instincts.
After the two of them had walked a long way, the sky was completely dark, and even the starlight could not penetrate the dense foliage. At this time, Mono unexpectedly noticed that many small flickering points of light seemed to appear in the depths of the forest.
At first, those points of light seemed very faint, flickering and dimming, and Mano thought it was just some fireflies, so he didn't pay much attention to it. However, as they got closer, the small dots of light in their field of view began to become more and more numerous. Each small white point of light is surrounded by a light blue halo, flickering and flickering, like a dream.
As time passed, Mono discovered that those seemingly static and sparse small dots of light were actually slowly drifting towards him. In this dense forest, where you can't see the starry sky from your head, those faint little points of light are like lights that guide the way. Although they are not dazzling, they are very warm, bringing a little hope to travelers lost in the depths of the forest.
The child seemed to be attracted by those mysterious little points of light, ignoring the rocks and thorns under his feet, and suddenly rushed away, extremely fast, and when the demon field came back to his senses, only a vague light and shadow were left in front of him.
Mono was taken aback by the child's sudden move, and he didn't have time to think about it, so he subconsciously raised his foot and chased after him quickly. If it was usual, he would definitely not easily run at such a rapid speed, otherwise he would be regarded as a monster, and there would definitely be no good results waiting for him.
But at this moment, in this forest, he doesn't have to worry about those problems at all, and he can use the power given to him by life without any scruples to release his true self. Perhaps, he should be grateful for the presence of this child, because he has not experienced such a feeling of freedom once in the past thirty years.
The deeper you go into the forest, the more and more points of light float in the darkness. They come from all directions, seemingly chaotic, but in fact they are meticulously arranged according to some established pattern. Soon, countless small points of light finally joined together, and the trajectory gradually appeared clearly.
Only then did Mono realize that the arrangement and trajectory of those small points of light actually echoed the trajectory of the stars he usually saw from the night sky. As far as the eye can see, it is as if the stars in the night sky are reflected in the forest, isn't this a miniature version of the galaxy map?
He couldn't help but wonder if those little points of light possessed some kind of breathtaking wisdom, otherwise, how could they depict such a magnificent and vast galaxy map so accurately?
In the face of such a dreamlike and extraordinary scene, it is impossible for anyone not to be shocked, right? However, what Mono saw from the child's face was only the joy of reuniting old friends, and there was not the slightest look of amazement, as if he had long been accustomed to it.
Just as Moye was about to ask the child for the reason, the child suddenly broke into the galaxy map floating in front of him. I saw that he stretched out his left hand, and the small points of light that had been sticking to his position were all excited, as if they had suddenly gained some kind of power, and the originally faint light suddenly became bright and dazzling, and the vast picture became messy, and then converged into a gurgling river of light. The river of light flowed through the child's fingers and fluttered around him with joy......
Moye couldn't tell whether this was a real scene or a phantom, and he only felt as if he had seen a melody flowing in the deep forest. Yes, although it was difficult to understand, he was sure that he saw some kind of mysterious melody, and not through his ears. This silent and beautiful song of the galaxy deeply attracted Moye, and he couldn't help but stretch out his hand towards the light river...... At the moment when the fingertips made contact with the river of light, an unexpected sense of familiarity suddenly poured into my heart. Although it was only a short moment, it was enough for him to clearly feel that there was a soul-shaking melody that was echoing in the depths of his consciousness.
Why is it that such a touching melody and such a warm light cannot be touched by ears and fingers?
Mono could clearly see his fingers passing through the river of light, but he didn't feel anything! there was no temperature, no hardness, as if he hadn't touched anything. How could this be? I could see it, but I couldn't touch it, this mysterious melody that reverberated in the depths of my soul made Mano puzzled.
But before Moye could figure out why, countless small dots of light quickly disappeared on the child's fingertips. Maybe it's not appropriate to describe it as disappearing, in fact, the mysterious river of light flowed directly into the child's body, and completely merged with him, and there was no trace of its existence anymore, and everything just now seemed to be just a fantasy dream.
"It's beautiful, isn't it? like the song of a flower in full bloom. The child looked back at the demon field, and his eyes flashed with joy, as if the sound of the blossoming flowers also contained the secret of the birth of the world.
"Huh, like the song of a flower when it is in full bloom?" Do flowers sing when they are in full bloom? Hearing this, Mano was amazed, and this novel metaphor instantly brought back to reality the person who was immersed in the "dream world". What sound does a flower make when it blooms? He never actually noticed. Because so far, he has been running for survival, and he has not paid attention to a single flower, and naturally he does not know what sound the flowers make when they are in full bloom, and he does not even remember how beautiful they are when they are in full bloom. At this moment, all his attention had been taken away by the child's strange eyes, and he couldn't help but wonder if the vanishing galaxy had also flowed into it.
