postscript
A month ago, Chen Ting's brother sent a telegram mentioning that the China Social Publishing House will launch a set of biographical literature books that reflect the legendary figures of the present and contemporary times, and display the outstanding demeanor of the outstanding sons and daughters of the Chinese nation with the social effect of "three closenesses", in order to comfort the ancestors, show the comers, vigorously cooperate with civic moral education, invigorate the national spirit, and promote the building of socialist spiritual civilization. I replied that five or six years ago, I wrote a book called "Legendary Heroes of the Republic - Ye Ting", which was published by the Hebei People's Publishing House. 200,000 words, judging from the feedback at that time, many readers thought that the writing was not bad, integrating authenticity, historical materials, literature, and readability, and it was full of interest to read.
The next day, Mr. You Yonghong, the director of the editorial office of the China Social Publishing House, called to ask for the book, saying that he was in a hurry to submit a topic. I mailed it as instructed, and I also sent it to Brother Tingyi for advice.
A few days later, Brother Ting said frankly that the writing is quite skillful, that is, it is slightly thinner than the manuscript provided by other colleagues, and it is recommended to add some chapters if conditions permit, and find more photos of Ye Ting, and arrange them in the text, so as to be thicker and more illustrated.
Brother Tingyi's suggestion is reasonable. Originally, when I first wrote the book "Ye Ting", firstly, my physical condition was not good, secondly, the time limit of the publishing house was tight, and I was authentic to the famous Northern Expedition general Ye Ting, "I only know the first day of junior high school, but I don't know the fifteenth", and it is quite like "no rice hurdle" to write. However, due to the trust of his friends, he went to many bookstores in the capital to collect books and historical materials about Ye Ting's era and the people who worked with him, which amounted to nearly 100 catties. So, after reading it, I worked all night to "plough" it, and finally paid the errand on time.
Afterwards, whenever I opened this book, I always felt that there was an irreparable shortcoming. One of the main points is that some strange experiences of Ye Ting before his death were not written, or they were only scratches of the surface. In fact, I have always not pursued a large number of biographical literary works, but have always tried to write a wonderful "biography". Biographical literature is of course first and foremost "biography" and "literature", but if "literature" is insufficient, "biography" will be reduced to a compilation of materials.
However, at this moment, new regrets follow. Because the publication cycle of this book is still relatively short, and I am already a person who is over the age of six, my body has worn out several major "parts" since 10 years ago, and now I am suffering from a "serious disease" with my wife, and I need to take care of it carefully, so it is really beyond my power to revise all the original books, and I don't want to be unable to live with myself anymore.
Therefore, in line with the principle of seeking truth from facts and doing what we can, we have made up for the places that should be rich in the past, added two chapters, rewrote one chapter, and added "Ye Ting's life", which was placed as an "appendix" at the back. In addition, some pictures have been added so that they don't look too thin anymore.
What needs to be said here is that when writing this biographical literature in the past and supplementing it today, I have referred to many books such as "The Biography of General Ye Ting", "The Record of the New Fourth Army's Campaign", "The Southern Anhui Incident", "The Biography of Sun Yat-sen", "The Compilation of Historical Materials of the New Fourth Army", "The Biography of Ye Jianying", "The Biography of Nie Rongzhen", "The Biography of Liao Chengzhi", and many other books.
As mentioned above, due to the lack of time, there will be many errors in the book, and I hope that colleagues and readers will not hesitate to advise.
