Chapter 69: Kumarosh

I was puzzled, and hurriedly put my palms together and asked, "Diligence and Dharma Bodhisattva, why do you collect the petals?" Do you have to be so careful in your dojo? ”

"Don't talk nonsense." The eldest prince on the side laughed and said to me: "The Bodhisattva is speeding up time, the Bodhisattva is the master of the Asura Path, and the one who teaches the Dharma in the Asura Realm is the Bodhisattva's rebirth." Here is the Dharma body, the Bodhisattva has countless doppelgangers, in all walks of life to save degrees, the Golden Body Buddha is one of them. ”

"The speed of time here is already dozens of times that of the Yang Realm and the Asura Realm, and the Bodhisattva reincarnates the space, and the flow speed is ten times faster. Talking to you like this for ten minutes, the Asura Realm and the Yang Realm are less than half a second. The Bodhisattva was not willing to delay salvation for a moment. ”

Looking at the Bodhisattva who has differentiated from the body of the Bodhisattva, I guess that this is also a clone. The Bodhisattva of Diligence and Dharma Propagation is indeed the same as what Midra said, and he is saving all the time.

Wait, no, they all say that one day in heaven and one year on earth should be slower, right, how can it be faster?

Before I could ask, the eldest prince said to me, "You can't understand it, we seem to be floating upward, but in fact, this is under the eighteenth layer of hell!" ”

Yes? Eighteen layers of hell, still below? From now on, if anyone dares to curse me to go to the eighteenth layer of hell, I will tell him that I have also been to the nineteenth floor...

After listening to the eldest prince's speech, the doppelganger of the Bodhisattva sang the Buddha's horn and said, "What the eldest prince said is good, I made a great wish following the example of the Bodhisattva King of Jizo. King Jizo Bodhisattva had compassion on me and opened up space for me under the eighteen layers of hell. In this way, I will be able to save more sentient beings. ”

They have all cultivated to the invincible Bodhisattva, and they are willing to stay under hell all the time, this wish can fill the mountains and seas.

After listening to this, I put my hands together again from the bottom of my heart and praised: "Nan Wu Great Compassion and Diligence Propagation Bodhisattva, the Bodhisattva's merits are immeasurable, and the disciples are amazed with joy!" ”

The Bodhisattva smiled slightly and said, "Diligence is self-control, Dharma propagation is voluntary, and compared with the Bodhisattva of the King of the Earth, I dare not call myself a Bodhisattva." Arhat, you should call me by my real name. ”

The Bodhisattva's tone was as if an ordinary monk was discussing the Tao with others. I didn't expect that a bodhisattva would be so humble. I finally understood why I didn't see the light of merit on the bodhisattva's head. He even thinks that the name of a bodhisattva is arrogant, how can he manifest the light of merit?

Thinking about me, a disciple who is out of the horse, he still fights with people at every turn, and I pay high tribute with the strength of the immortal family, which is really embarrassing.

I immediately folded my palms and bowed, and asked, "The disciple does not dare to disrespect the Bodhisattva's entrustment, but he does not know the name of the Bodhisattva. ”

"The poor monk's real name, Kumarosh." The most shocking thing about the Bodhisattva Striving to promote the Dharma calling himself a poor monk was his name, which was even more shocking than I had thought I was an arhat.

Because among the students of Buddhism, this name can be said to be like thunder. Kumarosh is known as the translator of the Seven Buddhas, and his translations of scriptures are innumerable. Together with Xuanzang, Bukong, and Zhenyi, they are known as the four major translators of Chinese Buddhism, but they have won the title of the first person in the Three Tibetan Masters.

As we all know, there are eight schools of Chinese Buddhism, and Kumarosh is the ancestor of the eight sects. The main texts he translated include: the Great Prajna Sutra, the Lotus Sutra, the Vimala Sutra, the Amitabha Sutra, the Diamond Sutra, and so on.

In the Western Regions at that time, Kumarosh was regarded as the closest wise man to the Buddha, and among the Buddha's disciples, there were several great arhats who said that Kumarosh was very close to the Buddha.

This means that Kumarosh may become the eighty-ninth Buddha born in the world of samva. It is such a high monk, but in the previous history of Buddhism, he has been criticized a lot. Until now, many people's opinions about him are also at two extremes.

According to the history books, Kumarosh could speak at the age of half, read and write at the age of three, read a lot of books at the age of five, became a monk with his mother at the age of seven, traveled to study in Tianzhu countries, visited famous teachers and great virtues, and Botong Mahayana and Hinayana were the first of the four great translation masters.

All along, there was a prophecy that followed him throughout his life. It was on the way back to India from Kumarosh that Kumarosh met a three-fruited Arhat, and he predicted that if Kumarosh did not break his vows at the age of 35, he would have earth-shattering deeds, and he could spread the Dharma to the world, transform countless people, and then become a Buddha, otherwise he could only be an ordinary teacher.

This prophecy enveloped Kumarosh's life like a sword of Damocles hanging over his head.

He became the leader of Mahayana Buddhism in the Western Regions, and it was a great honor for him to ascend to the podium with the conversion of the kings of the Western Regions, and people vied with each other to recite the thoughts of this wise man.

He strictly obeyed the precepts and became a treasure in the eyes of the countries of the Western Regions.

At that time, it was in the period of the Sixteen Kingdoms, and the former Qin Emperor Fu Jian wanted to get this "divine monk", so he sent his brave general Lu Guang and 70,000 iron horsemen to sweep towards the thirty-six countries of the Western Regions.

In that year, Kumarosh was 35 years old, the last year of prophecy.

Lü Guang captured Kumarosh, but he did not believe in Buddhism, and he believed that Kumarosh was not very special except for his handsome appearance.

He tortured this "divine monk" in the eyes of the people in every way. He forced Kumarosh to marry the princess of the kingdom of Kuzi. Rosh does not follow. Lü Guang drunk Kumarosh with strong wine, locked him up with the princess, and made him break his vows. Rosh still refused, and in the end, Lü Guang threatened the lives of the people of the Western Regions.

In the end, Kumarosh married the princess of the country of Qiuzi, and broke the vows for the first time in his life.

Fu Jian could not wait for Kumarosh to be brought back to Chang'an, and his regime collapsed, and Lü Guang, who had a heavy army, established his own power. On the way to Dingdu in Liangzhou, Kumarosh reminded Lu Guang that there was a flood to happen, regardless of his previous suspicions.

Lü Guang didn't believe it, and as a result, the flood broke out that night, and thousands of lives were swept away by the flood. This incident frightened Lu Guang. So, he detained Kumarosh in Liangzhou for 17 years.

Perhaps, this is the best arrangement of fate, in the past 17 years, Kumarosh learned the Chinese language, understood the Chinese culture, and Huaxia became his second hometown.

Seventeen years later, the army of Emperor Yaoxing of Later Qin broke through Liangzhou and collapsed the Lü Guang regime.

Yao Xing had long heard of the name of Kumarosh, and invited Kumarosh to Chang'an and worship him as a national teacher. It is recorded in the history books that in this year, the official road to Chang'an was full of young monks and scholars.

Kumarosh led 5,000 monks to translate Buddhist scriptures at Caotang Temple. They worked day and night, and the Diamond Sutra was translated, and the Vimala Sutra was translated......

As Kumarosh's prestige in China grew, Yao Xing began to feel fear, fearing that the people of the Later Qin Dynasty would believe in Kumarosh and take his place.

So Yao Xing came up with a plan, he found Kumarosh and said: The master is such a genius, the holy seed must be preserved.

Kumarosh, who had a similar encounter, never obeyed.

Yao Xing forced Kumarosh: If you don't leave the holy seed, you will not be allowed to continue translating the scriptures. Yao Xing did not let him live in the monk's house.

Kumarosh, who made a great wish and devoted the rest of his life to translating the scriptures, had to be forced to agree to marry and have children.

Again, Kumarosh broke his vows.

The monks of the Western Regions actually married a wife and had children, and the gossip spread far and wide, and many monks began to belittle Kumarosh, thinking that he was a disgrace to Buddhism, and wanted to imitate Kumarosh to marry a wife.

One day, when Kumarosh came to give a lecture on the scriptures, he took out a bowl of iron needles and swallowed them in public. Tell them: If you can do it, you can learn from me. Otherwise, each of them holds the vows and practices.

This was the first time that Kumarosh had shown his supernatural powers in the Eastern Territory, and since then, the monks who have followed Kumarosh have become more strict about the rules and precepts. But the people didn't understand, and many people regarded Kumarosh as a monk of wine and meat. There are even believers who block the street in front of the street, saying that Kumarosh is a defilement and a defilement monk, and he will fall into the five infernal hells and seek an indefinite escape.

Kumarosh once said: The body is like mud, and the heart is to the lotus. This is Kumarosh's new understanding of the "vows", and this breaking of the "vows" is no longer "breaking the vows".

In the past, the believers were stupid, and the monks did not use swords even if the villages under the mountain were sacked, except for the usual degree. When they have no choice but to choose to die with the believers, they are not willing to kill.

From the Sui and Tang dynasties after Kumarosh, that is, after the Sixteen Kingdoms, there was a new definition of precepts. During the troubled times, many temples began to have monks. When the people suffered, the monks and soldiers were willing to follow Kumarosh's example, even if they created their own karma, and did not want to see the suffering of living beings.

Kumarosh's last words to the people were those he said to his disciples before he passed away: "If the Dharma I have taught in my life is correct, my body will not be burned with my tongue." Otherwise, burn all the scriptures, so as not to mislead the world. ”

Sure enough, the tongue of Kumarosh turned into a relic, which is now enshrined in the Kumarosh Temple in Wuwei, Gansu Province, and is also the only tongue relic of the Sanzang Master in the world.

When I first learned about Kumarosh, I thought, what are the vows? The prophecy of the Three Jewels Arhat was the vows, telling Kumarosh and all the monks to keep the precepts and not to ruin the practice.

But Kumarosh's phrase "the body is like mud, and the heart is towards the lotus" is also a vow, depending on what your original intention is. A gangster, taking hostages, forced the monk to say that if he didn't eat meat on the spot, he would kill someone. If you don't eat it, are you keeping the rules and precepts? In order to save people's lives, this vow should be broken.

It can be seen from Kumarosh's tongue turning into a relic that he is doing the right thing, otherwise there would be no relics, let alone a bodhisattva. But if he did the right thing, according to the Three Jewels Arhat, he should have become a Buddha after his death, so why should he just be a bodhisattva?

I didn't ask this question, because according to my understanding, he could become a Buddha, but just like when he swallowed an iron needle. Outwardly, he has indeed broken his vows, and if he becomes a Buddha, it will cause many practitioners who lack the root nature to lose themselves.

King Jizo Bodhisattva could have become a Buddha a long time ago, but he never wanted to become a Buddha. Kumarosh has been praising the Bodhisattva Jizo, and he may be emulating him, which is the real suffering of all sentient beings, the real great compassion.

Of course, this is my own opinion, and it may not be right.

I clasped my palms together and bowed down: "Praise the merits of the master, the disciple is in trouble now, and I hope that the master will save the degree, and guide the maze!" ”
