Chapter 30 The President and His Person
One Saturday afternoon, after school, I was alone in the back row at a spacious desk with no books piled up to do my homework. It was getting late and I turned on my small charging light. The glowing white light sprinkled down and illuminated the tabletop, making me feel that under this light was a world that belonged to me alone.
It didn't take long for the president to arrive. He doesn't often show up in our class on Saturday afternoons, so how can he be so interested today? I watched from afar as he walked up to Lin Haiyuan's side. He sat on the seat that was only in the aisle from Lin Haiyuan, trying to talk to Lin Haiyuan. Lin Haiyuan looked a little impatient, and waved his hand to drive him away like a fly.
Poor president! I really feel like I'm in the same way as him. We all chase the same person every day, every day, and never slack off. Even if I didn't get any special attention, I never gave up. And the president still insists on being impatiently driven away by Lin Haiyuan, such a spirit is really worthy of my admiration. I think we should be considered comrades-in-arms.
After being driven away, the president stood up and walked towards me.
"Use your lamp with me." He moved a chair and sat down next to where I was sitting.
"Okay, do you want to read?" I moved the light towards him.
"Yes." He took out a book and read it under the lamp.
"What are you reading?"
"A book about history."
In this way, the two of us are studying together under the same light, and we are more like good comrades-in-arms who "depend on each other".
After reading the book for a while, the president put away his things and left. Hey? Since he didn't wait for Lin Haiyuan, why did he still read in our classroom just now? I guess he didn't expect Lin Haiyuan to stay so late, I thought to myself.
After Lin Haiyuan left, it was almost time for me to pack up and go home. That's when I thought about the president again. Now he and I are friends who wait for Lin Haiyuan together after school every day, so this relationship is closer to other people. Thinking that I knew almost nothing about him, I began to want to know more about him.
So, I raised my legs and walked to the classroom of the sixth class of the second year of high school.
Class 6 classrooms are on the second floor, just at the other end of the hallway. I walked slowly down the hallway, recalling my time with the president and guessing what kind of person he would be.
When I came to Class 6, I looked at the sheets of paper pasted on the blackboard, where the names of the whole class were often present. When I looked at it, there happened to be a report card for the latest monthly exam of Class 6. I found Lan Yixiao's name and found that he was the second in class six, and he was also second in the grade in the most recent exam.
Second, that's a college bully. I didn't expect him to be so powerful. When I heard him confidently discuss English correction with Lin Haiyuan before, I felt that this person should not be simple, and sure enough, he is a scholar, not an ordinary scholar. Second in the grade, isn't that the same level as Lin Haiyuan? It's really a group of people. Thinking about it like this, I'm a little ashamed of myself. Although my grades are good, I am far from the second level in my grade now, and I have to work harder to be "worthy" to be with them every day.
Walking out of the school building, I looked up at the sky alone.
"The sun is shining in the fairy clouds, the autumn sky is high and the sky is deep", the beautiful autumn sky is blue and far-reaching, which makes people sigh at the greatness of the universe and its own insignificance.
I suddenly thought of one thing: Why did the president come to Lin Haiyuan every day? Although he sometimes discusses study issues with Lin Haiyuan, one of them is a liberal arts student and the other is a science student, and there are not many times when they can discuss together, and they don't need to come every day to discuss problems. Besides, looking at the way he sometimes "harassed" Lin Haiyuan, and then looking at Lin Haiyuan's annoying appearance, this is obviously why he wants to pester Lin Haiyuan. Why, exactly? Without any more clues, I can't speculate.
I don't know why the president came to Lin Haiyuan, so does he know why I followed them? I hope he'll just think I'm with them purely for fun. After all, I'm not going to tell the world that I like Lin Haiyuan. However, even though I have achieved my goal of getting out of school with them step by step so far, I still feel that my behavior is a little suspicious, and I just don't know what it means to be like this in the eyes of others. It should be okay, right? I don't just walk alone with Lin Haiyuan every day, we are three people together, it seems to be much more reasonable, right?
Alas, it's useless to think about this, in fact, I don't worry much about what others think, I just walk with the two top students every day, so I can't talk about making any mistakes, I'm just happy myself, what do you care about him so much?
To be honest, at first, I had mixed thoughts about the existence of the president.
When the president first appeared, I was a little "resentful" of him. At that time, I was in the stage of trying to find an opportunity to talk to Lin Haiyuan every day between classes (including after school). The appearance of the president is undoubtedly a big obstacle.
Later, I met the president and found that he was very interesting, especially the fact that he was very familiar, which made people feel more comfortable with him, so my impression of him began to improve.
Later, when I tried to blend in with Lin Haiyuan and the president, I also felt that the president was an obstacle. But then again, if I didn't have a president, how could I be so blatantly walking with Lin Haiyuan every day so quickly? So I'm thankful for him.
Nowadays, walking with the two of them every day, I find that the president can be said to be the main force of our chat.
The president is a very gossipy person who likes to listen to everything. There are also many topics that you can talk to us about at ordinary times. Lin Haiyuan is usually busy studying all day long and doesn't care about other things. If you don't talk to him, he will hardly come out of the way to talk. If we didn't have the president, our life wouldn't have been so interesting.
For example, one weekend, the head teacher suddenly asked the parents in the parent group of our class what the phone numbers of the individual students in our class were, and asked the parents to send them out one by one. I was very puzzled by his approach.
When we returned to school, the head teacher suddenly warned us not to report our school's illegal make-up classes. I thought left and right, oh, I see. It must have been the school that found the phone number of the whistleblower, so Director Tang asked the parents of our class to send him the student's phone number, so that he could confirm whether this person was from our class.
At noon that day, I talked to Lin Haiyuan about my speculation, and as usual, he said "oh" after listening to it and stopped talking, but the president of our class who came at this time actively asked me what I was talking about, asked me to repeat it to him and discussed it with me.
In this way, the difference between Lin Haiyuan and the president is very obvious. There are many more things like this, but in short, I always need to keep looking for topics to talk about when I'm together, or just silence. And being with the president is much easier.
