Chapter 9: Sugar
When John arrived at the tavern, he found it in shambles, with tables, chairs, and wine bottles scattered all over the floor, and several soldiers lying there tumbling in pain. Sure enough, something happened, and John stood in the crowd and looked at the tavern. From the conversation around him, John heard that a pirate had appeared here, was spotted by the army, and then wounded the army soldiers himself and fled.
Hearing this, John had already determined that it was Duncan who caused the riot. Just trading a piece of candy can cause such a commotion, John doesn't know what to say anymore. Out of the corner of his eye, John watched as the army approached from behind, and John scattered in the crowd, watching as the army after him picked up his fallen companion and walked away with the candy that Bonnet had not had time to take with him when he left.
Thinking of this, John was ready to secretly follow them and see where they were going to put their things.
Some of these soldiers were holding their companions, some were holding their goods, and almost no one would look around, so John was relieved to follow them at the end of the line, observing their movements from a distance. Due to their long queues, John was not afraid to lose. Following the soldiers all the way, John watched as they entered a fortress. Looking up, you can faintly see human figures patrolling back and forth from the shooting ports on the fortress walls, and several people are on guard. It seems that it is not a good way to break in, but you have to find a way to infiltrate.
John looked at the sky, it was getting late, and decided to talk about it tomorrow. First of all, now it's time to find a place to settle down. Since arriving in this world, John has not lived a day in human society, at first he was playing on the island to survive, then he spent another month wandering on a boat, and now that he is hard to get to the big city, John decided to look around to see if there are any clues that can be discovered. Now John just wants to know what is going on in the world.
The next day, John came out of the inn. Touching the purse at his waist, he thought of the thief who was still tied up and thrown under the bed, and hoped that he would not scare the innkeeper, or that the boss would find him before he starved to death.
What a daring, little thief. Probably looking at his own face, and not being with others, he felt that he was a soft persimmon. But that's okay, my accommodation expenses for the past few days have been settled.
When I walked to the dock, I saw Bonnet sitting on his cargo with a sad face on his face, his face twitching from time to time, and he didn't know whether it was sadness or the pain of the wound on his face. Duncan next to him was talking to Bonnet: "...... These Spaniards stay away from me. Bonnet waved his hand: "Oh, that's okay. The bad thing is that the soldiers took your rush and my sugar. ”
Duncan cursed, "Damn!" and asked Bonnet, "Where did they go?"
Bonnet stood up: "I don't know. But I think those guys should know that my Spanish is so bad that I might as well not ask. As he spoke, he pointed to the Spanish soldier who was shopping at a nearby stall.
Duncan cursed again, "Damn." Then he turned back to Bonnet and said, "Let's follow them to see if we can find my map." Bonnet looked at Duncan's back: "What about my sugar?" Duncan turned around: "Is it still in my pocket? ”
Seeing that the two were about to leave with the soldiers, John walked over and patted Duncan on the shoulder: "If you are talking about their destination, I know." ”
When Duncan was photographed by John, he was first a spirit, his hand was wiped on the knife on his waist, and then he remembered the owner of the voice and relaxed: "John, don't suddenly appear behind me, it's none of my business to be slashed by me." ”
John shrugged, "I drank a bottle of rum behind you, you didn't even see it, and I don't think you'll ignore me and leave." ”
Before Bonnet could react, he heard John's words clearly and said, "Oh, oh my God! John, you just said you know where my sugar is? God forbid!"
Duncan only then reacted, "Wait, how do you know? I remember you weren't with us yesterday." ”
John looked at Duncan, whose hand was moving towards the hilt again: "Calm down, brother, hey, calm down." You don't know how much trouble you made yesterday, do you? How dare you knock down the Spanish soldiers, but Spain is in charge here. ”
Duncan thought about it for a moment, and then lowered his hand and asked, "Then how do you know? John said, "Yesterday I was out there watching the soldiers take the unconscious away, still holding two boxes. The chest, I remember, belonged to Bonnet, so I followed them to the door of their fortress. It was heavily guarded, and I didn't get a chance to get in. ”
"So what are you waiting for, let's go. When Bonnet heard John's words, he hurriedly came over and said, "In which direction? Damn, those soldiers must not spoil my sugar." ”
Duncan turned his head to look at the soldiers who had just bought something, and were so delayed by John, the two soldiers had already left, so he had to shrug his shoulders helplessly at John: "Then, lead the way ahead." ”
John took Duncan and Bonnet to the fort he had found yesterday and said, "It's right there, but I don't know where they were, and you'll need to investigate it yourself." "I won't need you later. Duncan looked around and said, "You and Bonnet wait for me at the docks, and I'll be back later." Without waiting for the two to answer, Duncan climbed up a tree beside him.
John watched Duncan jump and churn from branch to branch, and he always felt that it was abnormal: such a thin branch could support the weight of a grown man? and it didn't even bend at all? Even the jumping and falling branches didn't shake at all, as if they were fixed dead. "Sure enough. John broke off a branch from the branch Duncan had just stepped on, and there was nothing out of the ordinary: "This man is different. He turned to Bonnet and said, "Let's go, let's go back to the docks first." Bonnet looked nervously at Duncan's back: "My sugar ......" "Leave your sugar alone, we won't be able to leave when something happens inside." Besides, you think he's the only one who can carry your sugar box and escape the guards? ”
Bonnet let out a sigh of disappointment: "Okay, okay, I guessed it a long time ago, but fortunately I didn't bring much." ”
"Let's go, I think it's a miracle that he's back. John took Bonnet by the hand, and when he noticed that some of the soldiers on the fortress were beginning to pay attention to this side, he said, "If we don't leave, we will alarm the soldiers, and then none of the three of us will be able to leave." ”
