Chapter 253: Battle of Silvermoon City: High Elves and Demon Net Enchantment
The reason why the High Elves have been able to survive and reproduce on the continent of Azeroth for more than 7,000 years is in addition to their own strength and wisdom.
The magic net energy enchantment that has always guarded them also has an inseparable relationship.
Speaking of this magic net enchantment with great power, we have to start with the history of the elves in ancient times.
10,000 years before the war between humans and orcs, the world of Azeroth was a vast land surrounded by a boundless ocean, Kalimdor.
Many different races and creatures live on this land, battling against the harsh natural environment. At the center of this dark continent is a lake filled with mystical energy, known as the Well of Eternity, a source of magic and natural energy for the entire world.
Later, a primitive tribe of nocturnal humanoids discreetly settled around this enchanting lake, and these wild, nomadic humanoids were attracted by the mystical energy of the Well of Eternity and built improvised dwellings around the lake.
Over time, the harmonious energy of the Well of Eternity has had an effect on this strange tribe, making them strong, intelligent, and almost immortal.
This tribe is known as the "Kadore", commonly known as the Night Elves - and the predecessor of the High Elves of Silvermoon.
To celebrate the growing growth of the tribe, they built tall buildings and shrines around the Well of Eternity.
A long, long time later, the Night Elf civilization has made tremendous progress in terms of territory and culture. Their shrines, roads, and settlements can be found throughout the continent of Kalimdor.
Azhara, the beautiful queen of the Night Elves, has built a spectacular palace next to the Well of Eternity for her favored servants to live in.
These High Elves obey the queen and consider themselves nobler than their fellow citizens.
While Queen Azhara is loved by all the people, many of the populace are hated by the High Elves.
Sharing the secret of the Well of Eternity with other mages, Azhara commands the learned High Elves to unlock its secrets and reveal its true purpose.
The High Elves worked day and night on the Well of Eternity, and eventually they discovered a way that allowed them to harness and control the powerful energy of the Well of Eternity.
As their experiments progressed further, the High Elves discovered that they could use this newfound power to create or destroy at will. The High Elves decided to master these powerful spells once and for all, and although they knew the disastrous consequences of using them inappropriately, Azhara and the High Elves nevertheless began reckless experiments with magic.
And so, disaster struck...
The High Elves' unbridled use of magic caused the magic fluctuations of the Well of Eternity to spread across the boundless dark universe, and spread to the Twisted Void, where they were eventually sensed by the demons entrenched there.
Sargeras - the mortal enemy of all life, the avenger of the world, the supreme dark titan.
He sensed the powerful waves of magic and found the source of them, and after observing the world of Azeroth and feeling the infinite energy of the Well of Eternity, Sargeras was eager to possess it all, to destroy the world and claim its energy for himself.
Filled with desire, Queen Azhara became the first victim of Sargeras.
She agreed to provide him with an entrance to the world of Azeroth, and even her minions abandoned their quest for magic in favor of Sargeras as a god, and in a sign of loyalty to the Burning Legion, they helped the Queen open a large, swirling portal in the Well of Eternity, known as the "Entrance".
After a shocking battle of ghosts and gods, the Well of Eternity, a giant spring full of magical energy, exploded, and this war was also known as the "War of the Ancients" by later generations.
The Night Elves splintered into many branches after this war, and the High Elves led by Darth Rema Sunstrider were one of them.
In the centuries since the collapse of the former Well of Eternity, the surviving High Elves have struggled to assimilate into their new society, but this has not been an easy task for many - despite the fact that the practice of magic has been banned in mainstream society, they have resisted the temptation to become addicted to magic.
These high-class elves have been warned by mainstream society many times, and the remaining elves who have experienced the terrible battle of the ancients have even decided to execute repeat offenders, but such behavior continues to be banned. For the upper echelons, the allure of arcane is too strong.
Outraged by the bans and punishments inflicted on his fellow citizens, Darthrema Sunstrider eventually declared that arcane power was the birthright of the High Elves and denounced those who feared it as cowards.
In defiance, he and his men began to ignore the law and openly study arcane knowledge.
For these people, arcane magic is not only a symbol of their rebellion, but also a symbol of the greatness and excellence of the Night Elves.
Although these so-called High Elves are not in the same league as the former Elven Queen, Azhara, they are eager for the Night Elf society to return to its glory and revive into a prosperous and powerful empire. And in their eyes, the study and use of arcane magic is indispensable to achieving such a future.
Their actions were strongly opposed and condemned by the rest of the elves, after all, they had already experienced the disaster of almost extermination, and now they just wanted to live in peace.
Unrelenting, the ambitious Darth Reema led a group of the upper elves who still had a strong thirst for magic to leave Kalimdor and successfully navigate through the choppy maelstrom.
Their fleets have wandered the shattered world for many years, discovering countless magical mysteries and lost realms in their travels.
A few years later, the determination of the upper elves led by Darth Rema finally paid off, and they arrived on a new continent. The land is full of lush forests and abundant wildlife, and in the long run, people will call it the "Eastern Kingdom".
To the surprise of the upper elves, they had detected a powerful magic net energy in this place, which was quite compatible with the magic they had been exposed to.
Under the leadership of Darth Rema, the High Elves began their new life here, during which they chose to migrate north to avoid unnecessary conflict with humans, and eventually defeated the Amani trolls entrenched in the northern part of the Eastern Kingdom. They abandoned their ancient tradition of worshipping the moon and instead gained power through the sun, and established another elven civilization and the now glorious Silvermoon City.
However, like the Night Elves in the past, they have never given up on using magic to sustain their rule and development.
Soon after the establishment of Silvermoon City, the upper elves discovered powerful magical energy underground, and Darth Rema was overjoyed and immediately ordered the powerful elven mages to use this natural magical energy to lay a magic net enchantment for Silvermoon City that would not stop around the clock.
Darth Rema had two ideas: one was to build this barrier to defend against the trolls, after all, although they had defeated the attacks of those guys again and again, Darth Rema could always smell the conspiracy of those guys.
The second is to prevent the outside world from detecting their use of arcane magic.
The energy of this magic net is extremely powerful, and it has always guarded the safety of Silvermoon City, and the way to unlock this magic net energy is to start with the mage tower inside, and the only way to unlock this magic net energy is to open the March Key, which combines three moon gems into one.
Darth Rema, the former leader of the upper elves and the founder of the kingdom of Quel'Thalas, thought that this impregnable barrier would protect his people and civilization forever.
But what he didn't expect was that thousands of years later, the two key breakthroughs in cracking this magic net enchantment were mastered by the same person...
