Chapter 5: The Gathering Place and the Storm
Although he said that he had found a gathering place for human activity, John also knew that he could not just shout and rush over at this time. It is impossible for simple peasants and good people to build a gathering place on this deserted island, except for pirates and navies, there are no other ocean-going ships here—not to mention merchant fishing boats, which sometimes work part-time as pirates, not much different from real pirates.
John rubbed his chin and decided to observe the gathering area on the other side of the river for a while, but he had to be careful, in case he was discovered, he was considered to be a treasure peeker, but he had to eat a gun.
John found a hidden location to make sure he could see the movement of the gathering place and to hide himself from being exposed. If it's a pirate, you can still communicate carefully, but if it's a navy, you can only leave first. However, there was a bit of a gap between what he thought, and when it was time to cook at noon, John did not notice that there was smoke rising, and there was no human figure in sight, so John concluded that there was no one living here now. Thinking of this, John decided to cross the river to have a look. The creek was not deep, and if you walked into it, it would only reach a person's thigh, and if it was still water, anyone could easily walk through it, but now the flow of the river was not small, and John decided that if he walked in casually, it would be a foreseeable future. Therefore, John decided to find a wide spot where the current would slow down before crossing the river. Upstream or downstream, the upstream is a small waterfall, and if you want to go upstream, you need to climb over a hill, and the downstream only needs to follow the small river. John only thought about it for a moment and decided to go downstream. In addition to using the river to locate and not worrying about getting lost, John also thinks that the opposite gathering place should also have a way to reach the opposite bank, if it is a bridge, if it is a small boat such as a canoe, it means that the current is not large.
Fortunately, he didn't have to go long before John saw a single-plank bridge stretched across the water, supported by a number of tree stumps underneath, which was probably built by the people who built the gathering place opposite. Crossing the river along the single-plank bridge, John began to take a closer look at the treehouses in the trees. These treehouses are not big, and it is basically the limit for two people to live in them. There are planks nailed to the trees that are easy to climb, and there are planks between the treehouses as bridges. As John observed, there were already many birds in and out of the treehouse, looking for food. It seems that no one has been here for a while.
John climbed up the planks of the tree to the treehouse, and this time he could see the area around the treehouse more clearly. The treehouses were built around a clearing with a large pit in the clearing, and from the traces of the flames inside, it was supposed to be a place for the people in the treehouse to burn and cook. On the other side of the treehouse there is also a stream full of running water, but this stream is not large or wide enough compared to the small river, so people here have only erected a few stumps in the water that make it easy to settle down and people can step on the stumps to cross the river.
Generally speaking, it is still more suitable for temporary life, the tree house far from the ground can avoid a lot of poisonous insects and poisonous snakes, and there is basically no need to worry about any bad creatures running into their mouths when they sleep at night; there is no shortage of drinking water before and after, plus the fire pit, it is naturally very suitable for living.
Now that no one lives in it, it should be fine to live in it for a while. John clasped his hands to his chest and looked at his surroundings. Now that he had found this place, John naturally didn't want to live in any more tree holes.
As a result, now John lives a day of hunting and meditating at night, but this meditation John has never found a good way, either thinking about the dawn or sitting directly where to sleep.
Every morning, John would go hunting in the woods with a simple throwing gun, exploring the surroundings and living a hunter's life. Until one day, John encountered a huge storm.
That morning, John opened his eyes. What John could see through the cracks in the treehouse was no longer the sunny and good weather as before, and only black clouds were left in the past, obscuring the sky and the sun, making the day no different from the night. Compared to this, John was able to receive pressure from the sky, which was different from the pressure from the soul brought by the fire, if the former was the feeling of being unable to move the soul under the pressure of a hostile stone, then the pressure of the sky was intimidated by its huge body, just like an inconspicuous insect looking at a giant, even if the other party was not aware of its existence, the unconscious momentum alone overwhelmed itself. Not only the dark clouds, but also flickering lightning shuttled through the clouds, like sea monsters swimming in the sea, and each appearance was accompanied by a heart-warming roar. After a while, the raindrops the size of beans fell from the sky, originally only one or two points, but after a while, it fell more and more, and in just two minutes, the dense raindrops formed a curtain of rain and became a curtain of rain, blocking everything out of the tree house. John reached out to catch the raindrops, only to feel that the invisible rain had beaten his hands painfully. It seems that there is no way to go out for the time being. Not to mention that even if you go out by yourself, you won't gain anything, such a heavy rain makes John's actions full of danger, and one will die if he is not careful. And there was no need for John to go out. John is not short of food, John has prepared a lot of barbecue jerky beforehand, and if you have water, you can drink it by reaching out to catch the rainwater. John has also encountered rainy weather several times, although it is not as big as this one, but it does not last long, and the rain will stop in a day at most. Looking at the barbecue hanging behind him, John took one from there and chewed it slowly in his mouth, admiring the rare storm.
Suddenly, John's eyes were drawn to a sudden burst of fire in the distance. The light of the fire was so intense that John could see its burst of light even through a dense curtain of rain, and even though his ears were filled with the sound of falling rain and thunder, John could hear a dull explosion.
Looking at the direction of the fire in the distance, John thought for a moment: if I remember correctly, it was the sea? The explosion at sea, could it be that a ship was fighting there and detonated a powder keg? In other words, would there be a ship ashore in that place? Everything is unknown, but what is certain is that John will finally be able to see the people of this world.
Thinking of this, John was slightly excited.
