Chapter 2: Descending the Mountain
The scenery flashed before my eyes quickly, and the condescending feeling made my head dizzy. I didn't know where he was going to take me, and I didn't dare ask, so I could only guess on his shoulder.
It was only at dusk that he finally let me go, and by this time I had already been turned upside down, and naturally I had no strength to pay attention to anything. I leaned against the trunk of a tree and gasped as I watched as the masked man waved his hand in front of me, and many branches of varying thickness fell from the tree one by one.
I watched as he laid out the branches in a pile, and then took out the fire fold from his sleeve and touched it gently, and the bright yellow flame suddenly lit up my eyes.
"I can only do it here tonight." The masked man looked up, then took off his coat and laid it on the ground, and lay himself down gently. From start to finish, the movements were perfect and elegant, which made me feel incredible.
I never knew he had such an elegant side, I thought he was just a rough man who knew martial arts.
"If you're not tired, we'll keep going." I was thinking about it when a nasty sound sounded in my ears. As he spoke, he was about to get up, so frightened that I quickly rushed over and lay on top of him and pressed his body to get up.
"Hmm... I'm so sleepy..."I deliberately yawned in front of his eyes, and then rolled over to his side, clinging to his arm, trying to warm myself up with his body heat.
He didn't hide, but moved to the side, as if he was deliberately giving me a place. I saw that he was only wearing two single clothes, and not everyone could wear them in such a cold weather, so I asked curiously, "Master, aren't you cold?" ”
“……”
I turned my head to see that his breathing had become steady, so I had to silence and look to the sky.
There were no stars or moon tonight, and the thick clouds weighed down the sky a little, just like I feel right now.
I REMEMBER ALIN SAYING BEFORE WE CROSSED OVER THAT THE SPACE-TIME RIFT WOULD OPEN AGAIN IN FIVE YEARS, AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF PREDICAMENT I WOULD FACE ON THIS PLANE, ALL I KNEW WAS THAT I AND SISI WOULD LIVE IN ANOTHER PLANE FOR FIVE YEARS UNSCATHED NO MATTER WHAT.
I looked at the masked man next to me, he was like the moon in the sky at this time, wrapped in a heavy fog, which was impossible to guess or touch.
I stared at him for a while, and suddenly I wanted to see what kind of face was hidden under the mask, and my hand was already stretched out unconsciously, but when I touched the edge of the mask, I stopped, and my heart began to pound.
I don't know what I'm afraid of, I just have a hunch that if I lift this mask now, the consequences may be beyond my reach.
My fingers slid lightly over the cold white jade for a moment, then retracted and lay down again, closing my eyes.
I was woken up cold, and when I woke up to find that the masked man had disappeared from me, I couldn't stop panicking.
In the second half of the night, the wind began to grow stronger, and I stood still for a while but there was no sign of him, and the fear in my heart grew stronger.
There were only scattered remnants of fire left in the dark branches of the trees on the ground, and I watched as the howling wind blew out the last bit of spark, and I was plunged into darkness.
"Master! Master! Masked Man! I yelled at the air, and no one answered. The dead branches of the trees around them rustled in the wind, which was particularly harsh in the silence of the night.
Where the hell did the damn masked man go! I angrily kicked the pebbles under my feet, looked around again, and in desperation, I had to walk forward step by step.
The wind was blowing stronger and the temperature was getting colder and colder, and after only walking a few dozen steps, I was so cold that I could only sit under a tree with my body hugging and shivering.
I thought I would freeze to death in the ancient woods, but unfortunately I was wrong, it turned out that the most miserable thing in the world was not that I was silently frozen to death alone, but that I was surrounded by seven or eight wild wolves in the wilderness, and I watched the end when I was about to be torn to pieces.
I was sitting at the base of a dead tree, staring at a wolf that was already a step away from me. I saw that its sharp teeth were mixed with red and white scraps of meat, and the drooling saliva had moistened a small patch of dirt in front of it, and it looked skinny and skinny, and it must have been hungry for days, and I suddenly felt that I was in a living situation like a living creature in a zoo to train the animals to stay wild, and it would be nice if I were one of those beasts who didn't know anything.
I looked nervously at the wolf in front of me, it stared at me for a while, and then sharpened its front paws, as if we were preparing the cutlery when eating, and suddenly leaped at me, and its sharp claws stretched out towards me, and I could only watch its claws plunge deep into my flesh, drawing deep scars.
Suddenly, something flashed in front of my eyes, and before I could react, I saw the wolf that had pounced on me scream and tilted to the side, twitched twice on the ground, and never moved for half a minute.
Well? As I watched, I felt my body pulled backwards, and a figure stood in front of me, holding me tightly behind him.
"Follow me!" The voice was as cold as ever, and I recognized him at once. I shrank behind him and nodded wordlessly, then leaned back to his back, nervously watching the wolves that had begun to pounce on us.
His movements were extremely fast, and his attacks were extremely ruthless, and all the wild wolves he had beaten were killed on the spot without exception. Warm blood spurted everywhere, some of which even splashed on my face, and I was so frightened that I could only be pulled around by him like a log.
Finally, when the last wolf died tragically under his sword, and I was slapped twice by him, I completely came to my senses, and as soon as my legs were weak, I fell straight to the ground, staring blankly at the dead bodies all over the ground.
The fear in my heart had long since made me forget the cold, I only felt that my body was covered with beads of sweat, and my palms were full of sticky sweat, which was extremely cold.
I felt my body being violently wrenched, and the blood and the smell of blood in my eyes made me really unable to help it, and I retched from the side of my head.
"Hurt?" A very low voice came to my ears, and I looked up to see that the masked man was already sitting behind me, his solid and broad chest pressed against my back, and I could even feel his fiery heartbeat and heart-pounding body temperature.
"You just... Where did it go? I came back to my senses slightly, and opened my mouth to ask.
He didn't answer me, just hugged me tighter, and wrapped my hand tightly in it with his big palm, allowing my cold body to absorb his temperature to the maximum.
The sky was turning white, and the woods were calm again. I snuggled up in his arms and moved slightly, opened my eyes and was stunned for a moment, and then jumped out of his arms with a rub, staring at the masked man who had been woken up by me.
"Hehe, it's early Master~ The apprentice really didn't mean to eat your tofu last night." I tried to explain to him with a serious face. Last night's scene gradually became clear in my mind, and I thought that I was really useless, I was actually scared by a few hungry wolves, but I also learned a trick and a half in the Phantom Sword Palace, but at the critical moment, it was all thrown out of the clouds, it really shouldn't be.
I thought the masked man was going to reprimand me, but he just gave me a faint look, walked over and put me on my shoulder, and continued to walk forward in such a strange way.
