Chapter 24: Diving and Caves

In the afternoon, John and Bonnet spoke a word, and walked to the edge of the pool with his knife.

Looking at the bottomless pool, John stood still by the pool and suddenly began to think about a question: How deep can I dive?

Diving was still a novelty for John. In the beginning, John had never dived – not to mention diving, not even swimming. When I arrived at the Ter'an Continent, I didn't even go down to the water that was a little deeper than my waist. Even swimming was learned after coming out into this world, let alone diving.

John looked at the bottomless pool and thought that it would be a big joke if he jumped down and couldn't float. After thinking for a moment, John turned to the boat, and brought a large roll of twine, one end of which he tied to his waist, and the other end found a large tree on the shore and tied it to the tree. Pulling vigorously with his hand, feeling the firmness of the bolt, John nodded in satisfaction.

Placing the knife at his waist, John recalled the action of the owner of the original body diving, took a deep breath, and dived directly into the water.

Diving was much simpler than John thought. John thought as he dived. Seeing a fish swimming towards him, he seemed to be curious about what this unseen thing was, and when he swam in front of John, the fish rubbed John's hand, and then turned around sharply, flicked its tail, and swam away.

Looking at the fish swimming into the distance, John realized that there were other creatures here. Since there are fish in this pool, whether it is connected by underground water veins or they are breeding in this pool, it means that this is not a forbidden area for life, and there is a possibility of predators. Thinking of this, John no longer concealed it, and burst out the coercion in his soul with all his might.

The fish in the distance did not swim far away, and seemed to have some curiosity about this unseen thing, and kept swimming not far away. However, John's coercion was exposed in an instant, and the curious little guy was directly stunned, and he rolled his stomach to the water.

After the coercion was released, not only this fish, but also some creatures that were originally lurking around couldn't stand it, and either fainted to death like that fish, or fled directly into the distance. John didn't expect that there were so many creatures lurking around here, watching these creatures leave like they were fleeing for their lives, and he always felt like he had become a great demon king. Thinking about it, I laughed.

No, how can I laugh? It's in the water. Suddenly, John felt that something was wrong. Isn't it impossible to breathe in the water?

John didn't have the habit of breathing, and if he didn't consciously try to do it, such as taking a deep breath before he first started in the water, he wouldn't be breathing at other times. Is this not in line with the science in the rough world? Is it because I am special? It can't be in accordance with the rules of this world. Come to think of it, the only way to blame this phenomenon is that this is not a real world.

Whether or not this phenomenon really came from a false world, it was good for John. The rope around his waist was tied because he was afraid that he would not be able to float up when he sank to the bottom of the water, and now that he knew that he didn't have to breathe, even if he sank to the bottom of the cave, his life would not be in danger, so this rope changed from a lifeline to a shackle that bound him.

So be it for now, John didn't plan to untie the rope himself. After all, this time it was just to see, to pass the time, and I didn't expect to find anything valuable. But I've found myself not having to breathe, so I'll be able to do much more next time. John gave up his swimming position and let himself sink naturally until the rope had been pulled straight and still did not fall to the bottom.

With a straight rope wrapped around his waist, John hung there with his hands on his chest and let the current blow him to one side, and John looked very calm: there was water here, that is, there might be underground water veins. Maybe a great place to have fun. However, it is still necessary to be prepared, although you will not drown, but if you are pulsed by the water and can't find your way back in an unknown place, that is a big problem.

After thinking about his strengths and weaknesses, John looked up at the sparkling water that reflected the sunlight, and slowly swam with one hand pulling the rope. When they reached the surface, they scared away some animals that had come to the waterhole to drink.

"Forgot. John patted his head and put the pressure away. Because he was too distracted in the water, he forgot that there was still a coercion from the fire in the depths of his soul, and as a result, after he surfaced, this coercion also frightened the animals around him, and he ran away as if he was dead.

The next day, still at dawn, the sailors rowed their boats to their own island, and John said hello to Bonnet, and went to the little pool with some tools, the source of which had been confiscated by the sailors who had fought the previous day.

With a knife hanging from his waist, a pickaxe on his back, and a large roll of unused hemp rope in his hand, John walked to the edge of the pool. Throwing the hemp rope casually on the shore and moving his body, John jumped straight into the pool. Since he had more things with him this time than yesterday, John sank faster, and after a while, he reached the depth where he was in a daze yesterday. When he got here, John clearly felt a stream of water flowing by, and although the speed of this current was not fast, John was able to easily get rid of the constraints of this current. Since the current had no effect on him, John did not hesitate and swam along the water to a cave.

John, who originally thought that the cave should be dark, found that even if there was no light, everything in the cave could not escape John's eyes. "That's really good news. With this dark vision, John's adventure is certainly more certain. Taking out the short knife at his waist and carving a mark on the stone wall to avoid getting lost, John continued to exude his coercion, stepping on the bottom of the cave and following the current to the depths.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, John noticed that the current suddenly became very strange, and it seemed that in addition to flowing deeper, there was also a branch that rose upward. John's feet were forced, and he swam up with the current, even though he was already attached to the top of the cave, John did not fall, but slowly swam along the water with the top of the cave, and it didn't take long to find an outlet up. It doesn't matter how big this exit is, you can just go and see it anyway.

With this in mind, John held the cave wall with one hand and floated up. This exit was higher than he thought, until John came directly to the surface.

"If there's air here, it's at least as high as an island...... Wait a minute, maybe it's ...... here," John climbed out of the water and thought about the small hill he saw with Bonnet on the island: "Isn't this just the bottom of the hill?"
