24. Invisible passengers

In the crew training room, several ship-accompanying investigators who are about to embark on a mission are intensively doing physical training.

The Newton is a medium-sized planetary ship that can tow two unmanned power cabinets, and the ecosystem on board is unlikely to be as large and complete as that on the Pacific Ocean, and the living comfort is far less than that of the mother ship.

The "Pacific" used a controlled nuclear fusion engine, which used nuclear fuel as the main engine propulsion medium, which represented the most advanced technology of mankind at that time.

However, during the 10 years of hibernation of the ship's passengers, Adam has already studied the parameters of the anti-gravity force field that he stumbled upon in the human "Space City 3" through all the time calculations, and the miniaturization of the engine has also been realized.

In the fifth year of hibernation, Adam built the first prototype of the anti-gravity engine, and continued to improve it in the following two years, producing nearly 13 mature and stable engines, and confirmed their reliability through four months of in vitro experiments.

As a result, "Adam" built another power system of the "Pacific" during the voyage. Just wait for the confirmation of the ship's personnel, and you can switch modes immediately. So, on the "Pacific", there are now two sets of engines.

This anti-gravity force field relies on the control of antiparticles to propel the motion of huge matter, and its core fuel is metallic hydrogen or liquid metallic hydrogen.

Metallic hydrogen is a degenerate substance formed by the action of more than 10 million atmospheres. Usually found in the interior of large planets, such as celestial bodies like Saturn or Jupiter.

The Pacific is equipped with a "dynamic stamping equipment" that uses a huge magnetic field, so there is no difficulty in producing metallic hydrogen. The main task of the Newton is, of course, to collect energy and provide the mother ship with decay element fuel that can continue to last for at least five years.

Although the Newton is theoretically a mining spacecraft, there is no problem for the four scientists on board to spend 220 hours on it.

Zhuge Yun was thinking about his mission, the gravitational wave generator had been transported from his room to the "Newton", and now the only thing to worry about was whether it would be able to stay in the low-altitude orbit of the asteroid according to the scheduled program after launching it.

This may require a specially made small** to launch it.

Fortunately, there was such a thing on board the "Newton", a weapon launcher carried for the lowest level of defense.

The main purpose is to destroy some meteorites that are close by, or space material that may cause damage to the spacecraft, such as comets, which can be used to change their orbits.

"Good, good." Zhuge Yun was very satisfied with this arrangement.

He didn't need to explain to the captain and the rest of the crew the reason for carrying the "gravitational wave" generator, the simple reason was that it was the task of every researcher on board, and no one would interfere with anyone else's research, except in some special circumstances, such as when the lives of other crew members were threatened.

The gravitational wave generator is actually not big, like a long mechanical tube, which usually wraps around in a circle and then maneuvers and unfolds when used.

Humans have been able to fit it into a small car. After launching, it enters a predetermined orbit, and then allows it to reach a relatively balanced state by perturbing with nearby stars, simulating the space-time ripples produced by "harmonious resonance".

The authority on the Newton is different from that on the Pacific, and almost any crew member has the authority to control it.

Now, Zhuge Yun and the other four investigators are ready to enjoy this 220-hour journey. They drew up a plan for the expedition and had 12 hours to prepare.

The expedition plan is to release the power cabinet robot controlled by the brain after the "Newton" enters the planet's low-altitude orbit, and collects abundant hydrogen elements by itself around the orbit.

At the same time, a manned vehicle was launched to observe the "man-made ruins" up close.

So, they asked Captain Roosevelt to let the Newton bring two additional small manned probes.

The two small probes are identical, one as a research vessel and the other as a standby.

And Zhuge Yun has already made up his mind, before the launch of the research ship, he will start the first launch device, so that the gravitational wave generator can be smoothly pushed into the orbit of the planet one level higher, forming a satellite that permanently orbits the planet.

For what was discovered on this planet, it should be said that it was an unplanned expedition, and even if you left it alone, it would have little impact on the ultimate mission.

However, human curiosity is so strong, let alone these ship-based researchers who take the study of the unknown as their greatest pursuit in life and have a special sensitivity. In any case, they will not pass up the opportunity to investigate those mysterious creations.

In addition to the 4 ship-accompanying researchers who were about to go to the planet to investigate, the other 9 researchers also woke up as scheduled.

In addition to the three-month recovery training and the analysis of the 10 years of voyage records and the various data collected by Adam, each person has a different research mission.

In a vibrant tropical rainforest, researchers gather in groups of three or five, chatting over tea and coffee.

It's not a space created by VR projections and environmental somatosensory devices, but a real rainforest – a completely ecologically independent environment on the sprawling Pacific, built to fit into the ecological cycle.

The system itself is an important subject of study, and Adam manages it well.

Birds, animals, insects, plants, microorganisms, flowing waterfalls, artificial suns...... All of this is true - except that there is no danger, each of them is under control, and is isolated in a space where the walls cannot be seen.

As far as the eye can see, it makes you feel like you are in the middle of nature somewhere on the equator of the earth.

There are many spaces like this, even snow-capped mountains and polar regions, grasslands and deserts, all of which are necessary for ecosystems and simulate everything that is found in nature on Earth to the greatest extent.

Each of these spaces is connected by several separate pipes and huge gates, temperature, humidity, pressure, gravity, ...... Everything makes you forget you're on a ship, and each of these environmental chambers is huge, wrapping around the outer hull of the Pacific and enclosing the space where the crew lives.

If passengers want to experience the outside in their own rooms, they have to use a VR system.

Their rooms will be intelligently switched to any of these natural environments – a natural effort made by humans in the design of the boat to reduce feelings of loneliness and depression.

Adam was very well organized and effortless in all of this complex environmental work, using his immense computing power to orchestrate it all, but the most complex and incalculable thing on this ship was people.

Man, such a complex animal, even with Adam's computing power, is simply not able to predict or coordinate the ecological changes brought about by his complex behavior, and whether it will affect the entire ship.

However, certain human behaviors are governed by institutions and norms in this boat, and Adam only needs to know whether someone has done something against the rules, or whether their body temperature and physiological indicators are within unreasonable variations, in order to judge the impact of it.

Of course, this is not absolute-for example, Zhuge Yun arranged the invisible 69th passenger, Yang Ruixue, in his large room......

Adam's chip is closed to this information, it is completely imperceptible.
