Chapter Ninety-Four: Where the Heart Aspires
After thanking Xue Ai's family, going out, and after walking a distance, Yin Ping asked Xue Dan: "Idiot, what are you asking about the land of Buddhism, didn't we just come out of the land of Buddhism?" ”
He actually vaguely knew what Xue Dan wanted to do, but he didn't want to admit it. To be honest, he really didn't want to go in again.
Looking at Yin Ping's sincere face, Xue Dan said seriously: "I've thought about it seriously these days, I still want to go back to the temple and live the kind of life I used to have." Since Master said that our master-apprentice relationship has ended, then I will not go back. ”
"If you don't go back, why do you have to ask?"
"Master's fate is over, but I think my relationship with Buddhism is still there, so I want to find a temple to continue my practice. If you want, let's go to the Big Buddha Temple together. If you don't want to, you and I will say goodbye here. ”
After speaking, he looked at Yin Ping steadily.
If Ye Feng was here, he naturally understood that it would not be easy for Xue Dan to be able to say this. At least, he was asking for Yin Ping's opinion.
Maybe this is the effect of the red dust in Xue Dan's eyes, he can even be so down-to-earth. If it were to be replaced, it would not be like this.
Yin Ping was a little surprised, but also a little clear, and more determined. I don't know why, at this moment, he misses Ye Feng so much.
If Ye Feng was there, he would naturally follow him and go to this world of flowers. However, Xue Dan will not.
Now, I want to part ways with him, but he is still glad in his heart along the way, although this road is hard, but with Xue Dan with him, he will not be so lonely.
At the beginning, when Ye Feng left alone, was he as helpless and disappointed as he was at this moment? In his heart, did he also expect him and Xue Dan to leave with him at that time?
Indeed, at the beginning he wavered, thinking that he would go back the way he came, and go to the peaceful days of the past. However, since he came out of the forest, he found that this world was so colorful, this red dust was so attractive to him, and this worldly life was so pleasant.
Separate and separate, maybe no one can really participate in other people's lives.
Thinking of this, Yin Ping smiled and said to Xue Dan: "Big brother, I won't go with you, no matter how good the Big Buddha Temple is, it can't compare to my wish to find my biological father." Let's go, I'll accompany you on your last journey. When you ask the Buddha how to walk, I will walk in the opposite direction with you. ”
Hearing that Yin Ping no longer called himself a nerd, but called him the eldest brother according to the age sequence of the three, Xue Dan suddenly felt that he felt another emotion, brother.
However, he became more and more afraid.
These days, more and more emotions have inexplicably entered his still thoughts, and they can't be removed. When he arrived at the Big Buddha Temple, he must practice hard and forget these emotions.
This red dust is the most draining of people's will.
So far, neither of them spoke, nor did they want to speak, let alone know what to say, but walked forward side by side. This part of the road, when the two reunited many years later, it became the only topic.
It's like when classmates who have never crossed paths after graduating from college get together, what they talk about the most is always the memory of when they were in school.
Perhaps, the common experience is the eternal topic of conversation for both parties. And the life without personal participation is just someone else's life, which has nothing to do with oneself.
After walking for a while, the number of people gradually increased.
Seeing that there were many forks in the road in front of him, Xue Dan was about to ask an old man who looked kind how to go to the Big Buddha Temple, but Yin Ping had already taken the first step, and asked with his hands folded: "This donor, how to go to the Big Buddha Temple?" ”
The man saw that the other party was a little monk, although he was dressed strangely and his hair was nondescript, he was respectful enough in his heart, and replied carefully: "Big Buddha Temple, it's easy to find." Well, you see, you follow this road all the way forward, and after walking for half a day or so, you can see a river. If you cross the bridge, you can ask the people again. ”
After thinking about it, he kindly added: "If you go like this, you won't be able to get there today." It's better to go by ox cart, it's not expensive, and you can get there at night. ”
After thanking this person, Yin Ping stroked Xue Dan's shoulder and said, "Big brother, this is the last thing I can do for you." Okay, let's leave it at that, this life...... I may never see each other again in this life. ”
He wants to enter the world, he wants to enter the temple, one word is wrong, but the wisdom of living will only be a completely different life. Theoretically, they still have a chance to meet, but when that time comes, what face should they face each other?
After listening to Yin Ping's words, Xue Dan suddenly felt something called "sadness" spreading in his heart. In a panic, he didn't say a word to Yin Ping, and he didn't even leave an expression, so he couldn't wait to turn around and walk forward without looking back.
Today, even if he goes until dark, or even until dawn tomorrow, he will rush to the Big Buddha Temple.
Looking at Xue Dan's distant figure, Yin Ping sighed sadly and left in the opposite direction. After getting along under the same roof for more than ten years, Xue Dan faced separation like this.
Doesn't it mean that when people get along with people for a long time, they will develop feelings? However, looking at Xue Dan now, the answer seems to be no.
The generation of feelings may have nothing to do with the length of time.
What he didn't know was that in this life, he would not only be able to meet Xue Dan again, but in ten days, he would be able to reunite with Ye Feng, and with Ye Feng's help, he would find his biological mother who had been waiting for him in the county.
The Big Buddha Temple in Xue Ai's mouth has always been a god-like existence in the hearts of the people of several nearby towns, and there are constant pilgrims all year round. Therefore, the incense of this big Buddha temple is naturally very vigorous.
There are many reasons for this, but the most important one is that if the people who come to make a wish are sincere, most of them will be able to seek kindness and get their wishes fulfilled. As for why there are still some people who do not fulfill their wishes, according to the abbot Huiyuan, "either the heart is not sincere, or the fate has not arrived".
In addition, in addition to those undocumented and mysterious legends, the Bodhisattva of the Great Buddha Temple has several real people and true things.
For example, Wu Kaide, the wealthy man of Wujia Village, was originally married to his wife Li Shi Chengcheng to worship the Buddha, and he must be vegetarian on the fifteenth day of the new year, and personally come to offer incense. As a result, he was nearly forty-one years old.
This Li Gongzi has always been frail, riddled with diseases, lingering on the sickbed, after Master Huiyuan's guidance, and a peasant girl in Chenjia Village, his body gradually recovered, and he never had a serious illness again.
Another example, the old lady Wang of Lijia Village, who had a high fever after a rain, invited several doctors but were helpless, and the family went to the temple to worship the Buddha while preparing for the funeral. As a result, the monk Huiyuan asked his son to kneel in the Guanyin Hall for a day and a night, and when he got up in the morning, he found a bottle of water at his feet.
He took the bottle of water home and gave it to his old mother to drink, and the old woman Wang had a fever in half an hour.
There are many similar examples.
After coming and going, the news of the Bodhisattva's extreme effectiveness of the Great Buddha Temple spread ten, ten, and hundreds, and became a well-known secret. Therefore, it is not surprising to see pilgrims hundreds of kilometers away in the Big Buddha Temple.
In addition, if you only talk about the distance, the nearby village is Wujia Village is the closest, and the Big Buddha Temple is built on a mountain five or six miles away from Wujia Village. This mountain is neither high nor short, and the highest point is only three or four hundred meters.
But it is also strange to say that this place is surrounded by flat land, and a flat river suddenly stands up here.
The main hall of the Big Buddha Temple is naturally built on the top of the mountain, but many temples have also been built along the way, enshrined to various bodhisattvas. Although the mountain is not high, it is better to arrange it reasonably, and it takes a lot of time to climb the steps step by step.
If you want to go into the temple one by one to worship the Bodhisattva, all the way to the main hall, it will take half a day, to say the least.
After saying goodbye to Yinping, Xue Dan walked from the afternoon to the sunset, from the sunset to the black moon, and to the rising moon. He walked persistently like this, except for occasional stops to rest and drink water, and he was always moving towards the Big Buddha Temple.
He didn't want the slightest delay.
Just as the moon was fading and the east wind was revealing a ray of light, Xue Dan finally reached the foot of the mountain.
At the moment, the surroundings were very quiet, and even the first pilgrims had not yet arrived. Seeing that the temple door was opened, Xue Dan walked up the stairs.
If the Nameless Temple is a hidden orchid hidden in the depths of the forest and no one knows, then the Big Buddha Temple is the Xinyi that stands proudly on the edge of the red dust. Along the way, the hall is all exquisite, and the Bodhisattva enshrined is also a treasure **, and the golden body is basically molded with gold powder.
Xue Dan couldn't compare which one he liked better, but with such a grand style as this Great Buddha Temple, presumably Buddhism is also profound.
When you walk in the middle, the terrain of the entire mountain is the flattest. Compared with the dangerous or narrow scenery along the way, this is a different scenery, and there are many buildings. According to the common sense of these years, looking at these distributions, Xue Dan understood that this was the abbot's residence.
However, there was a door in front of him, which was still locked.
After thinking about it, Xue Dan knocked on the door.
Xue Dan's knock on the door seemed so crisp in the silent early morning that although a group of little monks were cleaning the courtyard and making a lot of noise, the knocking sound still clearly came into the ears of every little monk nearby.
Most of these monks who clean the yard are from nearby towns, and they are of the lowest rank. Some came voluntarily because they knew that the Big Buddha Temple had food and were full, some were sent by their parents because their families were too poor to open the pot, and some came from other small temples to admire the prestige of the Big Buddha Temple.
In this regard, Master Huiyuan, the biggest boss of the Big Buddha Temple, almost did not refuse to come, but he had to make some comparisons. Needless to say, these people in front of him are naturally the least educated.
And those who come because they can't eat don't complain, although they are tired, but at least three meals a day don't have to worry. As for those who came from other small temples to make a fortune, they were a little disappointed. Not only did he not fulfill his wish, but he also became the lowest sweeper.
I have to say that there are too many things they need to do, go to bed late and get up early, meditate and participate in meditation, sprinkle and sweep, and serve high-ranking monks......
Seeing that everyone didn't move, they only regarded the person who knocked on the door as an enthusiastic fan of the abbot, and the little monk who was less than ten years old and was called innocent by everyone enthusiastically opened the door for Xue Dan. He came here because his family was poor, thinking that there might be a pilgrim from afar outside the door, so there was no need to just ignore it and delay people's time in vain.
As a result, as soon as the door opened, I saw that it was not a pilgrim standing outside the door, but a monk, a little monk with long hair and dirty eyes.
It is not uncommon to say that it is not uncommon for a little monk to come to the Big Buddha Temple, but it is the first time he has seen a down-and-out but firm-eyed man like Xue Dan.
In him, he seemed to see the shadow of the abbot.
Therefore, Wuji was stunned, neither getting out of the way nor speaking. Xue Dan was not in a hurry, he just looked at Wuji like that.
The other sprinklers didn't even lift their heads, but they were just a little monk, and they didn't know which small temple they came from, if they couldn't pass the abbot's test, they could also have one more helper.
If it passes, it will be the object of their service.
It just so happened that the immaculate senior brother and the eldest apprentice of Master Huiyuan came out of the abbot's meditation room, and when he saw this scene, he couldn't help but smile slightly. This is like this, when you encounter something you haven't experienced, you look dumbfounded.
For this reason, he was ridiculed by his brothers and sisters.
Because he walked over, he pushed away Wujian without a trace, looked at Xue Dan and smiled slightly: "What does the donor have to do?" ”
Xue Dan looked calm and modest, although he was wearing monk clothes, his hair was too long, and for a while, he couldn't judge what the other party's identity was, and what he was doing here. Therefore, it is safer to call only the other party's donor.
Moreover, he is not willing to have one more competitor. It's angry to say it, why are so many monks here every day looking for opportunities? In Wuyu's heart, he naturally regarded these people as competitors.
Hearing this, Xue Dan said slowly: "I heard all the way that your temple is famous and the Buddhism is grand, so I came to ask to see the abbot, I hope to practice here, and I hope to be introduced." ”
Xue Dan's indifference made Wuyu a little angry for no reason, and with his intuition, he felt that this was a powerful opponent.
Master Huiyuan always said that he didn't have enough concentration, and he couldn't think of what concentration was after thinking about it for a long time. But the person in front of him looks about the same age as himself, whether he is blocked out of the door or asked himself, he has always been so faint.
Could it be that this is called concentration?
However, no matter how dissatisfied he was, it was not good for him to attack directly, so he only heard Wufu reply: "Little Master, please come with me." This time, even he himself was surprised, he actually learned Xue Dan's tone to speak.
Even the title has changed from a donor to a little master.
Placing Xue Dan in the meditation room where the guests were entertained, he left without any reason, thinking that he had gone to Master Huiyuan. Xue Dan sat upright and meditated quietly.
Venerable Hui Yuan's mind has been fluctuating lately, because no matter how he places the scripture, when he gets up in the morning, the book will surely turn to page 21 by itself. This page is nothing special, there is only one story, and that is the joy of the high disciples.
Could it be that the Buddha is suggesting that there will be a powerful person under his seat?
He first tested Wuxuan, but the result was naturally dissatisfied.
His big apprentice is arrogant and talented, but his heart is too high, he can't comprehend many things, and he is a little blind.
Rao is like this, he is already the most potential junior in the Big Buddha Temple.
Just now, he was meditating in the room, and the book turned to page 21 by itself. In Nahan, there was no vain to report, a little monk came to the Big Buddha Temple, and wanted to be allowed to practice here.
Originally, he wanted the other party to wait, but after thinking about it, he seemed to think of something, and stood up anxiously, sent Wu Wu away, and slowly walked towards the meditation room.
Through the window, I saw Xue Dan sitting cross-legged, and that posture was actually such a standard. You must know that a child of Xue Dan's size does not need to be counted on by others, and it is not easy to be able to meditate well.
Like Xue Dan, who straightens his back but does not show deliberateness, is steady with casualness, and casual with respect, this kind of posture cannot be done without age or experience.
As far as that Wufu is concerned, how many times have he been taught, it is still like that, and there is no way to compare with Xue Dan at all.
As if playing a prank, Hui Yuan suddenly asked loudly, "Where did you come from, and what do you do?" ”
As a result, when he suddenly spoke up like this, Xue Dan was not frightened at all, but stood up according to the Buddha's rites, and replied unhurriedly: "The little monk was originally traveling outside, and he saw a lot of mundane things along the way. If you don't give up, sprinkle and sweep the courtyard, cook tea and boil water, the little monk will do anything. ”
Seeing this, Huiyuan felt a little satisfied in her heart. It's just that I don't know if the other party came prepared, and I don't know if the behavior just now was pretended.
Thinking of this, he motioned for Xue Dan to sit down opposite him, and Huiyuan asked Xue Dan about some of the most basic Dharma. Seeing Xue Dan talking eloquently, adding some of his own opinions from time to time, Huiyuan was very happy in his heart, and felt that at Xue Dan's level, he could talk to himself about Zen.
He deliberately asked some uncommon so-called profound Buddhism, and Xue Dan was able to comment on one or two. For a while, Huiyuan's eyes looking at Xue Dan were even more different.
Trying to make a look of not caring, Hui Yuan said: "All beings are equal, since you are willing to stay, I naturally have no objection." Go and shave your hair, and change your clothes. As for accommodation, naturally someone will arrange it for you. With that, he got up and left.
Xue Dan got up and returned the salute.
All this makes it very unpleasant for Wufu to hide and peek aside. He is not a fool, so he naturally knows Xue Dan's strength.
In those conversations just now, although the master didn't say anything, he could see that the master was very satisfied with this little monk of unknown origin, otherwise he would not have ordered him to arrange it next to his room in advance.
You must know that the room next to Wuyu has been unoccupied for several years. This is not only because of the proximity to the abbot, but also because of the status symbol.
In the next few days, although Xue Dan lived in such a house and his status was clear at a glance, no one stopped Xue Dan when he was working.
On the other hand, as long as he passed by, all the people would salute, let alone work.
Without Huiyuan's preferential instructions, everyone went their own way, so that no matter who Xue Dan was, the work that could be pushed over and let him do it.
In this regard, Xue Dan didn't mind at all, he slept late, got up early, swept the courtyard, meditated and chanted, everything was like a fish in water, and it was very smooth. After shaving his hair again, he seemed to have found the true meaning of life and was full of joy.
Therefore, his face turned out to be indifferent but my heart was happy, and the little monks were stunned.
It's just that both Huiyuan and Wuyu understand in their hearts that this feeling can't be pretended. They thought that Xue Dan really liked this place, but who knew that Xue Dan had just regained the feeling of living in the Nameless Temple, and he was full of joy.
Huiyuan carefully observed for a few days, and saw that Xue Dan was the same as before, not angry because of difficulties, nor bored because of boredom. The feeling of being full of joy made him happy too.
It can be regarded as the wish of every abbot.
After thinking about it, he decided to elevate Xue Dan's status.
However, how can the young monks in this temple understand their meaning without opening their mouths?
Fortunately, he has his own plan.
After this morning's class, Hui Yuan suddenly asked Wu Yu to summon all the disciples to the main hall, even the lowest-level sprinkler monk was no exception.
For a while, the entire hall was filled with people.
Just when some of the little monks couldn't wait, Huiyuan, who had been quiet, suddenly opened his eyes and swept around the whole room, and his three disciples sat upright, without wisdom, and without dust, and the rest couldn't bear to look at them directly.
It's just that where did Xue Dan go?
After looking for a long time, I saw that Xue Dan was like a lotus flower on the ground, and he was squeezed into the last row.
Seeing that everyone was in the hall, he looked at him expectantly, with a look of excitement or confusion, and the monk Huiyuan settled down and sat motionless.
Then, in the incomprehensible gaze of everyone, a blooming and failing epiphany appeared between his fingers, half-raised, and looked at everyone with a compassionate expression.
In this way, a few minutes passed, and the entire hall was silent, and everyone did not speak, looking at the monk Huiyuan who had been holding a broken epiphany in surprise, and he didn't know what this meant.
The disciples of the entire hall, including Wuyu, were confused, but only Xue Dan stood up, looked at Hui Yuan's fingers, and smiled.
Although there were many people between the two, the fingers of the Huiyuan monk and Xue Dan's broken smile were far away, and after seeing the unreasonable surprise, they had an epiphany, and everyone was even more confused.
Monk Huiyuan saw Xue Dan smiling and laughed himself, so he put down his hand holding the epiphany and asked loudly, "Why were you smiling just now?" ”
I only heard Xue Dan reply: "In the past, the disciples read the scriptures and came across a story. At the Lingshan meeting, the Buddha showed the public. At that time, everyone was silent, and Venerable Weikyaya smiled. Just now, the abbot, you put flowers on display, and I naturally smiled back. ”
Xue Dan's voice echoed in the quiet hall, and it also echoed in the hearts of everyone who was full of doubts.
As soon as Xue Dan finished speaking, some people understood, some people suddenly opened, and some people were annoyed. At this time, they all remembered that the monk Huiyuan had indeed told this allusion.
Seeing that everyone was being driven, Monk Huiyuan continued to ask everyone: "What about this epiphany......
"Just for Veto." Xue Dan replied calmly.
This was something he had never said, because he felt that everyone couldn't understand it, but he didn't expect Xue Dan to know. This time, even Wufu was a little embarrassed, it seemed that as long as it was about something in the Buddhist scriptures, Xue Dan didn't know anything.
Monk Huiyuan didn't know what he thought, and floated away with a smile.
Since then, the "broken smile" between Xue Dan and the abbot Huiyuan monk has become a good story in the temple. This made a group of disciples who had some foundation in Buddhism understand the gap between themselves and Xue Dan, and began to study seriously.
As for the monks who were in charge of sprinkling and sweeping, they remembered that Xue Dan had worked every day before but had never complained, but he complained every day, and he was even more ashamed in his heart.
For a while, Monk Huiyuan found that some changes had taken place in the Big Buddha Temple, and when he explained the Buddhist scriptures in the early morning, there were fewer and fewer people dozing off. The garbage in the yard is almost invisible, and there are few complaints in the ear.
However, Xue Dan's time to come to the Big Buddha Temple is still short, and if it is transparent, it is far less than innocent. Being an abbot is far from being as simple as imagined, especially when it comes to building temples with constant pilgrims and spreading Buddhism.
Even if you can't just be a human being, it's even more difficult to just be proficient in the Dharma.
Fortunately, it is still a long time, and everything is still early.
