Volume 1 Prehistoric Wars Chapter 42 The Road to Simplicity
The war between organisms has never stopped, the war between groups, the war between individuals, and the four words of heavenly competition and animal selection, expressing the bitterness of countless species all the way.
Lao Fang looked at everything that happened on the Xuanhuang Star, and he had been thinking about a question, that is, about war and peace.
In his view, war has always existed, and peace is only a pretense that war is still being prepared.
Heaven and earth, nothing can get rid of war, as big as Hengyu, as small as a certain electron.
What caused the war? He pondered.
Thinking about it, his mind also rose to a higher level.
There are survival, need, greed, lust that lead to war......
Whether it is survival, or demand, or other factors, these things are only appearances, and the root cause of war is certainly not these.
Lao Fang thought hard, he had always played the role of observer, and now that he was well-informed, he was starting to think about something.
There should be only one root cause of war, but there are so many manifestations of it......
Lao Fang's gaze stretched out to the sky, and countless images passed through his heart one by one, destruction and creation, life and death, courage and timidity......
The pictures were like lightning bolts, quickly dimming after the clear sky, and a trace of inspiration accumulated more and more in the sea of his knowledge.
Eventually, he saw the rudiments of this truth, the truth hidden behind countless appearancesβthe law of balance.
He smiled bitterly, it seemed that his comprehension ability was not as strong as he thought, because this concept of balance had been proposed by his ancestors thousands of years ago.
Yin and yang meet, light and darkness are opposed, good and evil are in conflict, strong and weak are contrasted......
Isn't all this the law of balance, and it is this inconspicuous rule that leads to the eternal war between heaven and earth, and the endless and unsolvable war between all things.
And all this, their ancestors have seen through it thousands of years ago, and they only used a Taiji diagram to present the essence of war.
Lao Fang's admiration for his ancestors is overwhelming, and he feels that after he has gained so much knowledge, his knowledge is still not detached from the framework that his ancestors drew at the beginning.
Perhaps this is the true meaning of simplicity.
With this thought, Lao Fang felt as if he had pushed open a heavy door, and the world was still outside the door, but he felt as if the world had taken off a thin veil, and everything was new.
The world in front of Lao Fang became wonderful, he felt that his thinking level was much higher, and his cognition and perception of things had another level of cognition, which felt like his dimension suddenly added one, and some things that he couldn't understand before suddenly appeared in this dimension, and there was nothing to hide.
Thinking is a good thing, Lao Fang thought.
But he was still very frustrated, and he felt that his level of thinking was still too low.
When he was thinking wildly, Dao Ancestor's long-lost voice appeared.
"I'm glad you think!" Dao Ancestor's voice was filled with relief: "This is very important to the observer! β
The old man nodded modestly, Dao Ancestor could guide him at this time, he couldn't ask for it.
"First of all, it is certain that your thinking is still at a backward stage, so you can only see the most primitive manifestations of certain things!" Daozu chuckled and said, "Trying to improve your cognitive level is what you have to do!" β
"The reason for your frustration is nothing more than that you think your cognitive level is not as good as that of an ancestor who has been dead for thousands of years. In fact, you don't have to, I can responsibly tell you that your current level is far beyond that era! β
"I'll help you analyze and analyze, you spent a lot of effort to finally summarize a thing, but after thinking about it carefully, you found that this thing has a lot in common with a certain concept of your ancestors, so you have doubts about yourself, and feel that what you have summarized has long existed!"
"Not really!" Dao Zu smiled slightly: "In fact, those ancestors of yours are not as strong as you imagined in terms of cognition, after all, cognition is inevitably related to the height of civilization." β
"In the beginning, in the eyes of your ancestors, the world was incomparably complex, and all kinds of manifestations confused them, puzzled them, and frightened them."
At this time, there are some intelligent people who look for certain patterns in this complex appearance. The so-called law is the 'commonality' of things, and with the passage of time, the initial incomparably complex appearance, after generations of intelligent people search, finally become a simple law. β
Later, there were wise people who expounded this simple law, extended it, and dialectically it, and turned it into their own "Tao"! β
"The so-called Tao is the framework outlined by your ancestors, and at the beginning, the "Tao" was extremely simple, like a seed falling into the soil of civilization. β
As soon as Dao Zu's voice fell, many pictures appeared in front of Lao Fang, and Lao Fang understood several of them.
In a certain picture, an old man riding a green ox and slowly walking in the purple twilight, it is Lao Tzu.
In another picture, another old man with seventy-two younger brothers, working tirelessly, traveling around the world, and painstakingly sorting out the knowledge of his predecessors, that is Confucius.
There is also a picture of an old monk sitting with his eyes closed and meditating on a certain Bodhi tree, which is Shakyamuni.
Of course, there are many other images, such as a tall old man wearing a hat and carrying a giant sword, walking barefoot in the mountains, such as a foreigner crucified......
"These smart people in the picture are from which simple laws to summarize their own 'Tao'." With a wave of his hand, Dao Zu shrank into countless seeds and fell into the dirt.
"Some of the seeds were unlucky and landed in the desert so they couldn't survive, and some fell in the cracks of the rocks, so they grew extremely hard, and only a few seeds fell in the fertile soil, and soon took root and sprouted and began to grow!"
"These Taos, which are gradually accepted by later generations, are often lucky, and there are constantly wise people who absorb knowledge from them, and then feed them back with a lifetime of knowledge."
These "Taos" spread out and spread out into various fields, and the geniuses and scholars of each era either carefully filled it or pruned it with great care. β
In the picture, a character with different costumes and his masterpieces appear in front of each towering tree, such as Mencius, Xunzi, Zhu Xi and so on. Each of these figures pulls out new branches and leaves for the tree.
"Today, these 'Taos' have covered all aspects of your lives, and they are no longer the simple frameworks outlined by a sage thousands of years ago, nor are they some simple laws that were first summarized by human beings. It is the culmination of thousands of years of your civilization. β
Lao Fang finally understood that the predecessor who first drew the Taiji diagram may have been simply explaining a simple law, but after thousands of years of development, the symbol of the Taiji diagram has been given a new meaning by countless predecessors.
Lao Fang pondered and was terrified, he suddenly found that the meaning of this symbol is too powerful, in his knowledge, up to astronomy, down to geography, complex to society, simple to personal, even music, art, chemistry, physics, these things, can use the symbol Tai Chi to dialectically translate.
If the symbol Tai Chi is given the meaning of "movement and static", the formation of sound can be explained, the meaning of "light and dark" can be explained, the meaning of color and light can be explained, the meaning of "yin and yang" can be given, many physical phenomena can be explained, and the meaning of "balance" can be given to explain all chemical reactions......
Lao Fang sighed, no wonder he finally summarized the origin of the war into this Taiji diagram, the reason is that all his knowledge is learned from this structure.
Dao Zu smiled: "More than two thousand years ago, your ancestors finally found the simplest laws from the complex world, and in the past two thousand years, your ancestors have slowly added branches and leaves to these simplest laws, and made them into an incomparably complex knowledge system. Do you feel a little ridiculous about this kind of behavior? β
Old Fang smiled bitterly and nodded, he had never thought about this problem, but now that he thought about it carefully, it seemed that there was such a thing.
He felt like he was running out of brains.
"Laws and knowledge systems are two different concepts, and you don't know the difference between them, that's why you feel contradictory!" Dao Zu smiled, he deliberately set up a language trap just now, and Lao Fang really fell into it: "The law summarized by your ancestors, we call it 'Dao', the road is simple, only the simplest Tao is the most accurate 'law' and only the simplest 'Dao' can be used as the 'foundation' of all complex theories, and all complex theories will have it as 'commonality'!" β
"But the knowledge system is a collection of all descriptions of the entire civilization, so it is complex, even so complex that your entire population is not capable of compiling all the knowledge into a book, let alone having someone memorize all the knowledge in one place!"
β¦β¦
Under Dao Zu's detailed explanation, Lao Fang felt that his cognition was a little deeper, but Lao Fang understood that what Dao Ancestor was talking about now was explained at the level of earth civilization, so he could barely understand.
Of course, Lao Fang's own level is also a general existence among the human beings on the earth, and it is good to be able to understand these, and if it is extended, it must be inadequate.
In the end, Dao Zu said earnestly: "As an observer, you really need to work hard to improve your own cognition, and it is not by chance that the Xuanhuang people can stand out from hundreds of millions of civilizations. I hope that in the process of observing the growth of the Xuanhuang civilization, your cognitive level will also improve, and you will not be at a loss before you see the back! β
