Section 2 The East Gate of the University
"Whew-"
Early one morning in the early autumn of 1996, a white-on-blue train sped from south to north on the Beijing-Guangzhou line, leaving patches of cornfields behind.
In the noisy hard-seat car, a middle-aged female flight attendant with a somewhat fat figure pushed the cart through the standing crowd, chattering endlessly in a lazy tone "Cigarette melon seeds instant noodles are ----", completely ignoring the others, tiptoeing up her legs and chest and stomach just to let her pass through the narrow aisle.
On the six seats opposite the double row, two fathers and one father and daughter are seated. Yang Jun, Xiao Chen, and Xiao Liu all graduated from the key class of Liyang County No. 1 Middle School in H Province, and they were all admitted to universities in Beijing. They made an appointment to go to school in Beijing together, and they had prepared enough food for a few days to eat, so naturally they did not need to buy expensive train food. Lao Chen is their homeroom teacher in No. 1 Middle School, and he also sent his son to study in Beijing, and he was very happy.
"The main reason for T is that the profession is good, the industry is good, and the future will be a good job!" Speaking of the university that his son will attend, the elegant old Chen is still a little proud, and his face is full of smiles.
"That's that, that's. This time, our Yang Jun was able to go to the University of Social Society, and it was also thanks to you that he disciplined the children so well. Lao Yang nodded busily and praised from the bottom of his heart.
"When I came out of the university, I was the county magistrate. There are also students in our class who went to Tsinghua University at Peking University, and there are only a dozen of them who go to school in Beijing, which is a record. Liu Xin of our family can go to Beijing Post, a girl is engaged in post and telecommunications, and it is not a problem to have a stable job. Lao Liu's face was also full of joy, and sending his son to Beijing to school was such a sense of accomplishment for parents.
The children were not too involved in the parents' discussions, and the smell of instant noodles, cigarettes and sweat acid filled the air, and the long journey made them feel tired and did not want to talk at all. Yang Jun slowly raised his head from the small table in front of him, leaning against the car window and looking out of the window.
Outside the window, on the North China Plain, is an endless field of green crops, slender poles, a bit like the reeds in his hometown, more than one person high, neatly lined up like soldiers waiting for review.
It is said to be called sorghum.
The carriage clattered slightly and rhythmically, making Yang Jun dizzy. This was the first time he had taken a train, and it was also the first time he had sat and sitted to sleep, and he even wondered why he had to travel thousands of miles to Beijing to go to Shanghai University. It's better to go to a university in the province.
Yang Jun couldn't help but start imagining life at the University. In the first 18 years of his life, 99.9% of his time was spent in Lijiang County, and he never left H Province.
I've heard that a university is the size of a city and has everything. It should be more difficult for the girls of the University to look up, only the top two students in the county can be admitted to the University, and they study so well that they naturally can't look at it.
Especially the girls in the Northeast, they must be like the Northeast women on TV, who look rough and act with big eyes, they are all aunts. Thinking of this, Yang Jun was faintly worried, and he couldn't say what he was worried about.
"Welcome to this train, the front station is Beijing West Railway Station, please take your luggage and belongings, ready to get off the train, I wish you a pleasant journey, and look forward to seeing you next time."
The people in the carriage began to get busy, and Yang Jun did not realize that he would hear the broadcast over and over again for years to come.
Outside the exit of the station, six people waved goodbye, carrying large bags and small bags to find buses to their respective schools in three ways. Since the school has not yet opened, the train station has not yet welcomed the new students, and there are only a few tables in other schools that say welcome the new students.
"3XX Road!" Yang Jun pointed to a stop sign, and the father and son quickly boarded the car marked "3XX", and Yang Jun said to the flight attendant in stiff Mandarin, "Go to the University of Social Sciences." ”
I don't know how many stops I took, but I heard the flight attendant say, "The University of Social Sciences has arrived, please get off the train when you arrive at the station." Lao Yang Yang Jun hurriedly got out of the car, lest he miss it.
But when I looked around, I didn't see the university! Shouldn't this stop stop at the gate of the university?! Yang Jun complained, so he had to timidly ask a passing aunt where the university was, and the aunt pointed to the opposite side of the road, and said, "Where is it." ”
The father and son followed the aunt's fingers and saw a majestic marble rectangular door frame, larger than all the doors Yang Jun had ever seen, and the left pillar of the door frame was written "Beijing University of Social Sciences" in several shining golden characters, and behind the door, a round of sunset was setting.
This is the east gate of the University that Yang Jun will keep mentioning in the years to come, this gate leads to the unknown future and completely changes the fate of Yang Jun.
