Chapter 22: The charcoal brazier in the cabin

Why did I go back to the cemetery? What's going on? Could it be that everything I just experienced was a dream?

But even if it was a dream, I wouldn't be able to wake up now.

In this "dream", I have no way back but to move on.

Well, just get me back on the road!

I touched my body and saw that the three most important things were still there: the ring, the pistol, and the flashlight.

But there was only one thing I was missing.

That's it – the map.

I don't know where to go or where my home is. Am I just wandering aimlessly?

Just when I didn't know where to go, I suddenly noticed that there seemed to be a bright light in the right front of this cemetery. The light, reflected in a small wood, seemed to come from a small house.

Could it be that there are people living there? However, since I entered this Dream Mountain Cemetery, I have not met a big living person, and if there is anything here, it can only be those terrible ghosts!

There is even something more terrible than a ghost here, and that is the invisible thing that has been following me all the time and will attack me from behind if I am cold!

The thought of almost being cremated just now makes me feel palpitations.

But strangely, the invisible guy doesn't seem to be intent on killing me with a single blow? Each time, he attacked me from behind, only to throw me somewhere else and leave me to fend for myself?

Who is this guy? Why can't I find him? He seems to be an invisible man, who can easily find me and attack me, but I can't do anything about him?

However, it doesn't seem like the time to settle accounts with that ghost-like guy. Now, the most important thing for me is to run away!

So, with a flashlight and a pistol in my arms, I walked towards the bright light.

This time, I walked very carefully, lest I fall into another grave.

Along the way, however, I never saw the tombstone with Mary's name engraved on it. Perhaps, it is long gone, and has fallen into the tomb with me, right?

Finally, I got there. Sure enough, it was a house, a small cabin.

Behind the house, there is a forest. Around the house, there is a meadow. In the room, there was still light, but it didn't seem to be a light, but a candle or something.

I went to the door of the house, only to find that it had been locked from the outside with a large iron chain, and the lock was rusty, which seemed to mean that the owner of the house had not lived here for a long time.

Since the door is locked, I'd better get out of here!

But I didn't dare to go into the woods, for there would be something terrible hidden there. It's so late, I can't even go in.

I wanted to turn around and find another way.

However, when I turned around, I found that the fog was already thick in front of me, and the way back became unclear. Of course, I didn't dare to go back to that cemetery.

In the thick fog, there was a cold wind that blew on me, it was so cold!

There's no way I'm going to just sleep out here overnight, can I? Now, I'd better go into this house first, stay overnight, and wait until tomorrow is dawn, and then it's not too late to go.

But how long will it take for dawn? I don't have a watch, I don't have a phone, I don't know what time it is.

I looked up and looked at the sky.

In the night sky, the moon has been engulfed in layers of dark clouds. Between heaven and earth, there was only a faint light shining on the lonely and cold earth. The thick fog takes everything on the earth for itself, but it spreads more greedily everywhere, taking, like a hungry wolf who can never get enough to eat.

I must go into this house at once, this is my safest shelter.

But the door is locked, so how can I get in?

My first thought was to use a pistol or find a tool to open the lock.

However, then, when I hear the noise, the owner of the house may find out about my intentions, and in that case I will not be able to eat and walk away.

Otherwise, I'd better find another entrance, right? Maybe there's a back door in this wooden house?

So I followed the perimeter of the house, along the grass, searching for other entrances to the house. However, after searching for a long time, I did not find another door, only a window on the side of the house.

It's the only window in the cabin, but it's also closed, so there's no way I'm going to break it and climb in, right?

I stood outside the window and looked inside, but it was pitch black and I couldn't see anything. It turned out that the light just now was suddenly extinguished, could it be that there was still someone inside, he extinguished the fire?

Impossible, this door is locked from the outside, how can there be someone inside?

But if there is no one, why is there a faint fire in it?

At that moment, suddenly, I felt a little itchy under my feet.

Then, it seemed, something was running down the soles of my feet and onto my toes.

I subconsciously lifted my foot, but the thing climbed up down the trouser tube. Then, it started to bite my thigh, and it was very itchy!

I jumped up and took my pants off and shaky.

However, nothing came out of the pants, and it didn't seem to be a small snake or a flea or anything like that.

By this time, the thing had already burrowed into my body, and it was along the base of my thigh, all the way to my lower abdomen.

Then, my stomach ached so badly that I couldn't stand it anymore and I fell to the ground, rolling back and forth.

I felt as if it was running down my lower abdomen and down my throat.

A feeling of nausea welled up and I vomited.

I finally spit it out and fell to the ground.

When I saw it, it was a lot of small snakes like earthworms, but as soon as they fell to the ground, they were motionless, probably dead.

Oh my God, how could I vomit all this horrible stuff?

Before I could figure out what was going on, all of a sudden, there was another violent churn in my stomach.

This time, I vomited even more violently.

However, when I saw the things I had vomited, I couldn't help myself and vomited violently.

It turned out that this time, what came out of my mouth turned out to be countless severed fingers, human severed fingers!

With this last vomit, I could no longer hold it anymore, and I fell to the ground, in the grass full of dead snakes and severed fingers.

I'm tired, I can't stand it anymore.

I don't know how long it took before I woke up.

I was still lying in the grass, but the vomit was gone, and all I was around was the weeds.

What's going on? What about the horrible stuff I just vomited, is this another hallucination?

Suddenly, I remembered something.

Last time, didn't I steal those offerings in the room near the monument at the Dream Hill Cemetery, the one full of wreaths? Unexpectedly, those sacrifices that I ate into my stomach turned into these terrible things?

However, it has come to this point, and it is useless to regret it.

I'd better find a place to stay first, and now the only place to go here is this cabin.

I couldn't take much of it, so I simply grabbed my flashlight and smashed the window with the end of the end and pulled the latch from the window.

The window was opened, and I immediately climbed in.

Maybe it was because I was too nervous, or maybe it was because it was the first time I did this kind of rooster and dog thief thing, and when I climbed in, my hands, face, and body were cut several times by the broken glass. I can't do that, though. Now, for me, survival is all that matters.

When a person is just trying to survive, all morality can only be thrown aside.

I finally entered the cabin, albeit in a very disgraceful way.

Once in the room, I turned on my flashlight and took a look at the room.

The furnishings of this room are very ordinary, only a table and a few chairs. In the middle of the room there was a brazier with coals, but the fire had been extinguished, and it had just been extinguished.

Could it be that the light I saw just now was the light in this brazier? But I could see it from that far away?

When I saw the charcoal brazier, I realized: this room seems to be a little cold.

Yes, it's cold, even colder than outside.

By the way, where is the fire here? Just, just burn this charcoal fire and keep warm.

So, I searched the house, hoping to find something like a lighter or a match. However, after looking for a long time, I just didn't find it.

What's even more strange is that I didn't find a single lamp in this room.

Is there only candles lit in this room? But even if you light a candle, you need a match or a lighter. Why is there nothing here?

This house seems to be still in the Middle Ages, and even older.

At that moment, suddenly, the light came on again in the room.

I looked back and was taken aback.

That charcoal brazier, actually lit it by itself?

Yes, the charcoal brazier was already lit, and the light of the flame illuminated most of the room.

I stepped forward and squatted down to take a look, only to find that there was something burning in the brazier.

What was lit was actually some other things from before, as well as some other things tied with paper, paper people, paper horses, and paper clothes.

But I didn't see any of these things in this brazier. How did they get into this brazier? And who lit them, and what was the thing that ignited the fire?

As soon as the charcoal fire was lit, the room immediately became warmer, and the chill in my body was slowly dispelled.

I stood up and turned my head.

However, when I saw this, I was stunned again.

I saw that in this room, there were all those paper things, paper horses, paper people, paper clothes, paper houses, and even, wreaths and paper lanterns.

What's going on? How did this house become like this in the blink of an eye?

I didn't dare to look at the paper men and horses, because their eyes seemed strange, as if they were alive, and they kept staring at me, an uninvited guest.

This feeling is really bad, so many paper things, what if they catch fire?

As soon as the thought came to me, suddenly, a gust of wind blew in through the open window.

The wind was so strong, really strong, that I couldn't even open my eyes.

In the midst of the wind, I faintly heard what seemed to be a wail, and the howl of a wolf in the moor.

Suddenly, I heard another voice behind me, a pop sound.

I looked back and was stunned!

The flames in the charcoal brazier were blown out by the wind, and the paper horses, paper people, and paper houses in this house were all burned!

Fire, by the wind, in an instant, crawled all over the room.

Oh no, it's on fire······
