Chapter 7: The Ghoul in the Morgue
Just to my left, less than three meters away from me, I saw a vague back.
It was a man in a white coat who was standing motionless on the stretcher bed on my left with his back to me.
How is it that what I see is blurry? Could it be that it was because I closed my eyes too hard just now, and my vision was affected? I blinked hard, but the guy's back was still blurry, what was going on?
I didn't dare to move, not even to breathe. I held my breath and looked at the blurred back. This guy seems to be a doctor, aren't people in white coats all doctors?
The "doctor" suddenly bent down, and all I could see was his blurry back, and I didn't know what this guy was doing. Could it be that he was patrolling the morgue? But what's there to inspect here? There isn't a big living person here, so what else would the dead make a fuss about but me?
Suddenly, I heard a strange sound, as if it was grinding my teeth.
Yes! I was stunned and blinked again.
The doctor didn't move, and the sound didn't stop. After a while, the guy finally straightened up and turned around.
Yes! I closed my eyes in fright.
Damn, I'm not going to be found out by him, am I?
Footsteps rang out again, but this time, the sound was straight out of the gate.
I slowly opened my eyes, carefully lifted the white cloth covering my face, and saw that the vague white coat had disappeared into the door of the morgue. Then the door to the morgue was slammed shut.
That guy is gone? I hesitated to jump off the stretcher because I was afraid that the guy would come back.
And so it went on for a while, and nothing happened. Slowly, little by little, I climbed off the stretcher bed and stood on the ground. As soon as my feet touched the ground, a cold chill poured through the soles of my feet. But I can't care about that much anymore, I don't want to stay in this place for a second.
Standing in the morgue full of stretcher beds and corpses, I looked around.
Here, indeed, I am the only living creature, not even a single mouse. There's nowhere to hide, and of course, I don't have to worry about anyone attacking me from behind.
I could have walked out of here, but when my eyes swept to the stretcher bed on my left, I was stunned for a moment.
What was the doctor in the white coat doing there? What about that sound like grinding teeth? My curiosity popped up. Although I remembered the phrase "curiosity kills cats", the more I didn't think about it, the more confused I became.
Eventually, curiosity drove me towards the stretcher bed on the left.
Who lies under that white cloth? Why didn't the doctor stop anywhere, but by the corpse? What did he just do to this corpse?
I walked over to the stretcher bed and looked at the white cloth that covered the corpse, but I hesitated.
What's so nice about that? It's just a corpse, huh? Forget it, whatever, what did that doctor do to the corpse, and what does it matter to me? I'd better not lift the cloth, what if I see something horrible? What if the corpse suddenly came to life?
I shuddered at the thought of the latter. I immediately turned around and was about to leave here.
But just then, I heard a noise behind me.
I was startled, and immediately turned around, only to see the white cloth covered with the corpse, and somehow it had slipped off and fallen to the ground.
My gaze was fixed on the corpse of the emaciated man.
This is an old man, his body is very thin, and he is almost skinny. His eyes were closed and his sockets were sunken. But that doesn't seem strange, right?
But when my eyes moved to the torso of this corpse, I was stunned!
The chest cavity of the elderly man's corpse was opened, and it was hollow inside. I took a closer look, and it became clear that the body seemed to have been hollowed out, and the internal organs were gone, leaving only a little debris.
Yes! I immediately understood, what was that grinding like grinding sound from the doctor just now? He's eating people, devouring the guts of this corpse, to be precise! Isn't he a doctor, an ogre? No, he should be a "ghoul"!
I felt a wave of nausea, a breath that jumped from my stomach to my throat, churned a few times, but finally didn't come out.
What kind of hospital is this? Is that doctor a human, or a monster? Oh my God, what would I do if he hadn't eaten this old man and had come to eat me? I couldn't help but feel a little scared, and my palms were already oozing with sweat.
At this moment, suddenly, the door was pushed open!
I was scared to death, but I was quick to react. I immediately slipped under the stretcher bed, tightened my shoulders, and watched the direction of the door warily and fearfully.
The door to the morgue was opened, and a blinding light shone in.
I was a little uncomfortable with the light, and I felt a little dizzy, so I had to bury my head in the ground.
The light dimmed again. But no one walked in. But I didn't dare to move, so I could only continue to lie on the ground, muttering in my heart: Don't come in, don't come in!
After a long time, there was still no movement. I dared to raise my head and take a look at the entire morgue.
Between the beds, on the ground, I saw not a pair of feet belonging to a living man, not even a dead man. There was silence in the morgue, nothing but the sound of my own breathing and heartbeat.
Strange, who opened the door, but no one entered?
Should I go out? What if you get caught by that ghoul? I don't want to be treated like a specimen in that lab, and I don't want to be eaten alive?
The instinct to survive, the fear of death, at this moment, are driving me to escape. I wish I had been a dream today, but this dream is too real, right?
However, this is not a dream, because after a while, the dream still does not wake up, where can there be such a long dream?
I was still lying on the ground, and there was still no movement outside the door.
I didn't want to wait any longer, so I got up and looked at the door, and then at the morgue. Here, there were no living creatures but me, and they all lay quietly on the stretcher bed.
So, I walked out the door. The door was open, and the light from the outside was shining in again, but I had to choose to get out of here.
The light grew stronger, it was the light from the corridor outside the door, and it was hitting my face, like a spotlight on the stage, and I couldn't open my eyes.
In a trance, I seemed to see a figure in the light. A vague figure, it feels familiar, who is this?
The blonde hair dangled in front of my eyes like a dazzling light.
Looking at the back of this blonde beauty, I felt a little familiar, but also very strange.
This woman sat right next to me, and we sat together on a long chair. On the other side, there is an endless sea. My feet are still bare, but the sand is warm underneath.
Where am I?
I looked around, and I realized that I was sitting on a bench by the beach, with a palm tree on my head, and to my right, there was this blonde, but I could not see her face, because she was facing away from me, and I could only see the long flowing blond hair, and the beautiful back.
"What are you thinking?" Suddenly, the blonde woman turned her head.
Yes? I was stunned for a moment, but when I looked at the woman again, I was stunned.
I can't even see her face clearly?
Her face was blurry, with only one outline, but I could still feel it: this was a beauty, a blonde beauty. Is she a foreigner? But why is she fluent in Chinese?
"You, why are you always in a daze?" The blonde beauty, whose face she couldn't see clearly, suddenly giggled and rested her head in my arms.
A fresh scent wafted out of her blonde hair and blew into my nostrils.
She didn't say anything more, just snuggled up in my arms and looked at the blue sea. The sea is really blue and blue, it should be as blue as the eyes of this foreign beauty, right?
But what is my relationship with her? How did we come to be so close to each other? Who is she? Could it be that she is Mary?
The thought of the name "Mary" made my body shake suddenly.
The English "MARRY" painted with a red cross in the hospital hallway, and the "MARRY" on the ring!
Yes! I froze!
I looked down again, and the ten fingers on the two hands of the beautiful woman were neat and tidy, and there was no defect at all. I was finally relieved that she wasn't Mary and that her fingers were still neat.
"By the way, didn't you say you were going to give me something very valuable?" Suddenly, Mary turned her head, but her face was still blurry, as if it were blurred through the mist, "Did you bring it?" ”
"What? What is it? I was stunned.
"What, did you forget?" The beautiful woman looked a little angry, and although I couldn't see her face clearly, I could imagine the angry look on her face, "Rings, engagement rings." ”
"Engagement rings?" I was stunned again, and suddenly, I understood.
I reached into my trouser pocket, but when I touched it, I didn't touch the ring. I touched the other side of my trouser pocket again, and it still didn't work.
"Why didn't you bring it?" The beauty suddenly screamed sharply, "You don't love me at all!" ”
Her voice was so sharp that it almost burst my eardrums.
I subconsciously reached out to cover my ears, but when the scream disappeared, I saw the beautiful woman's face, as if there was a little change.
On her vague face, the mist-like thing slowly receded like a tide, layer by layer.
In the end, I finally saw clearly, this is indeed a beauty. A pair of blue eyes, a tall nose, and a white and red face, with a smile on the corner of the mouth.
"Are you scared by me?" The blonde smiled sweetly, just like the hysterical look just now.
I didn't dare to say anything, I could only nod.
"Don't be nervous, I'm not asking for your ring, I'm looking for something else." She said with a smile.
"Something else?"
"Well, it's on you."
"On my body?" I was stunned and looked down at myself.
I was still wearing the blue and white hospital gown, and even my feet were bare, not even shoes.
"But, but I don't have anything on me?" I looked up and looked at the beautiful woman in bewilderment.
Suddenly, she stopped smiling and her expression became serious.
I got nervous too.
"All I want is this heart of yours." She held out her finger and pointed it to my chest.
"My heart?" ······
