Chapter 320: The Secret of the Last Room (Finale)
The lighting in the room was warm, completely different from the rest of the building, clean and welcoming.
Star Swirl stepped on the soft plush carpet, each step as if she were walking on clouds. She looked around, the bookshelves, the writing desk, and the piano in the corner, everything here made her feel like the familiar and the strange were intertwined.
The masked man sat down on the pink cot, the gentle cot that belonged to a girl. As if influenced by the cozy cabin, his voice became softer: "How is it, do you remember something?" β
Standing in front of the bookshelf, Star Swirl's gaze swept over the neatly arranged books inside, all of them were fairy tales, "It's a little impressive, but it's not very clear, maybe it's a place where I lived a long, long time ago." β
The cat in her arms leaped forward, broke free of its restraints, and paced freely through the room with soft steps, looking more familiar with the environment than the two of them.
"It's not the first time this guy has come in here, and... Why can cats unlock combination locks? The masked man hesitated, puzzled.
Star Swirl spread her hands and said helplessly, "Like you said, if you don't get out of here, you'll probably never know the truth." β
"Look at the picture on the wall," the masked man said, pointing to the group photo of the four, "so you have a twin sister." β
Starswirl can't help but let out a "huh" when her eyes fall on the photo. The two girls in the identical red dresses also looked very similar, and she could confirm that there was no Li Leqi who just claimed to be her sister among the two.
"What's going on?" Star Swirl's brain is racing, is her sister real, or is she born a twin?
The masked man noticed the change in her expression and symbolically comforted her: "Your room is much better than mine, you should go and see mine, there is no harm without comparison." β
"So, you used to live on the basement floor, and I should be on the third floor of the buildingβ" Star Swirl suddenly realized what the problem was.
The masked man nodded: "Judging by the door number, this is indeed the case." β
"Then why did I go down from the third floor to the negative one? Shouldn't you head upstairs for clues? Star Swirl's eyes lit up, "Then there's definitely something I'm looking for downstairs." β
"The manipulators behind this building have been guiding us upwards, and they are misleading us!" The masked man slapped his face, "So no one has managed to escape here for so long." β
"How long have you been here?" Star Swirl stared at the pupil peeking through behind the mask and asked, "Also, do you know why you're here?" β
"At first I should have known, but nowβ" he shook his head helplessly, "lost." β
Star Swirl looked up at the time remaining: twenty-one hours, meaning she had been in the building for nearly fifteen hours.
"Gollum~" I don't know whose stomach let out a protest, which just happened to interrupt the silence.
The masked man expertly opened the refrigerator in the corner of the room, digging bread, milk, and cans out of it and tossing them to Star Swirl, "You can't starve to death if you want the game to continue." β
Star Swirl stared at the food bag and frowned and asked, "How long have these things been left out, they won't expire, right?" β
"Don't pick and choose, I've been eating for a few days, isn't it okay? Don't worry, it's not poisonous! The masked man tore open the bag and turned his back.
Hearing the sound of squirming and eating in the corner, Star Swirl couldn't help but be a little curious, and she asked softly, "You... Why do you wear a mask all the time and don't want to show your true face? β
"Curiosity kills cats." The masked man said coldly, and the cat, which was napping on the ground, suddenly bowed up and made a defensive posture.
"You're scared of the kitten, she seems to understand you." Star Swirl smiled and stroked the white cat's soft little head, watching as it narrowed its amber eyes into a line.
The masked man stopped talking to her and ate in the corner. Star Swirl restrained her smile and took a bite of the hard bread, but her taste buds were really not enjoyed, and she had to make do with it.
The tense nerves relaxed for a moment, and the voice of the radio echoed overhead again: "Attention! Note! Room 1212 on the third floor of the building is about to release poison gas, please evacuate nearby. β
"Gassing?" Both of them were startled, abruptly threw away the food in their hands, and hurriedly reached for the doorknob of the room. However, I don't know when the door has been completely sealed, and it is futile for them to toss inside.
Star Swirl looked around the room, where there were no windows except for a door, and in the corner behind the curtains were two slender pipes leading to the outside world, and white smoke could already be seen filling the pipes.
"This room looks like a trap laid out." It's too late to complain about the masked man, and no matter where you are in the building, you may encounter the current predicament, which is determined by the manipulators behind countless camera surveillance.
"It's really worry-free!" The masked man with a scythe in his hand and Star Swirl stand with their backs, warily watching the interior of the room.
Suddenly, the computer screen on the desk lit up, and Father Han's hypocritical smiling face appeared above: "You two have worked hard, the game has reached this stage, and you must add a little fun." β
"What's so great about hiding behind a screen?" The masked man said indignantly.
"You have the ability to go it alone!" Star Swirl picks up.
"It seems that you are still very energetic," Father Han narrowed his long, narrow eyes that could not see his pupils, "but I want to make it clear to you that in less than a quarter of an hour, this room will be filled with poisonous gas, and when you inhale enough poisonous gas, you will not be far from death." β
"You bastard! Why should we believe your word? Star Swirl covers her mouth and nose as she watches as the white smoke envelops the two of them.
"You can also not believe, do nothing, and wait quietly for death." Father Han sneered.
"Tell me how to leave." The masked man had calmed down, "It doesn't make any sense to you to get rid of us like this, does it?" β
"That's right," Father Han smiled even more, "there's a pistol in the drawer of the desk, and there's only one bullet in it. Now it's up to you to kill one of them before the door opens. In other words, only one of the two will survive, so hurry up. β
"You want us to kill each other? It's a bad taste..."The masked man quietly opened the drawer, but he couldn't help but be stunned, it was empty.
By this time, the cold muzzle of the gun had pressed against the back of his head.
"Don't forget, this has always been my room," the girl's voice was unusually cold, clenching her pistol in her hand, "I'm going to the basement floor to find you, of course." β
"You're really good at acting," the masked man sneered, "Say, what do you want from me?" β
"Hand over the soul container!"
"You're not Li Xingxuan, because even if she lacks this bit of soul, it's fine. Since you're going to kill me now, at least let me know why. β
"X, even if you appear here as Lu Jingfan, aren't you still easily recognized by me? Tell you, I've recovered Li Leqi's body. Now all you need is Li Xingxuan's soul in your hand to bring my sister back to life! β
"I'm afraid it won't be as you wish, Li Xuanyue." The man squeezed the girl's wrist and pulled the trigger at himself, and with a loud bang, the tall body fell.
His ears were buzzing, and the scene in front of him was not very clear, only his eyes were gradually turning blue, revealing a look of relief.
The heart beat violently in the white cat's chest, and the amber eyes filled with tears. It watched Li Xuanyue unmask the man's face, and after searching for something from him, it went out of the room without looking back.
However, death befell him, like warm spring water, and like soft snowflakes. In the midst of blood red, he raised his arm and encircled the cat in his arms: "Finally... Found you..."
"Star Swirl," a tiny flashlight lay quietly in the man's outstretched palm, "do you remember what it was?" β
The white cat leaned in and sniffed, and a sentence suddenly appeared in his mind: "This is your heart anchor, remember, if you can't light it, it means that you are still in a dream." β
The paw pressed on the switch, the flashlight did not glow, and she finally realized that she had been in a dream from the moment she entered the Heavenly Ladder Mansion. And halfway through, I thought I woke up, but in fact, I fell into a deeper dream.
"This dream was created by Hermes, and clotho connected the dream to the other two planes. Walk upwards and eventually you'll be back at 2008 Old Lane, back to the world you lived in, where everything that happened will be forgotten..."
He finished speaking with difficulty, his pale face was like ice and snow, and there were only two blue eyes on his white skin, and a touch of pale blue lips. It's like a figure drawn on the wall, with its perfect lines, but it has lost all its color and has no fresh breath.
And now there is a picture in front of her eyes, in which her parents and sister are sitting side by side on a plush blanket under the floor-to-ceiling window, holding warm coffee in their hands, the heat hovering and rising, and the bright sun shining on them, golden and bright.
So she whispered in his ear: "The 'other me' in this world has fulfilled my wish, so let me stay with you next, okay?" β
The white cat's body emitted a golden halo, and in the more and more dazzling light, the cat's body returned to the girl's original appearance.
She closed her eyes, the fragments of her memory were put together in her mind, and the dream was finally broken!
---
"Welcome back." The heavy eyelids had not yet been lifted, and the familiar voice was already echoing in the ears.
A sly smile appeared on the girl's pale face: "Yes, 'I' is back." β
