Hold Taia upside down

[Idiom]: Hold Tai'a upside down

Pinyin: dào chí tài ē

[Explanation]: Tai'a: The name of the sword. Take the sword upside down, and give the hilt to someone else. The metaphor is to give power to others, and to suffer from it yourself.

【Idiom Story】:

"Taia" is the name of a sword. There have been various legends about this sword. For example, in the paragraph "Remembering the Sword" of "The Book of Yue Jue: The Biography", it says:

In the Spring and Autumn Period, the King of Chu sent Fengbeard to find Ou Yezi of Yue and the cadres of Wu and asked them to forge a few swords. Ou Yezi was the most famous swordsmith of his time, and he once forged 5 excellent swords for the king of Yue, named "Zhanlu", "Juque", "Shengxie", "Fish Intestine" and "Pure Hook". The gan general and his wife Mo Xie were also famous swordsmiths at that time. They accepted the commission of the king of Chu, and then opened a mine in Cishan (in the north of present-day Jing County, Anhui) to extract iron, and after careful smelting and forging, they forged three extremely sharp swords, one of which was called "Tai'a", or "Tai'a"; The other two, one "Longyuan" or "Longquan", and one "Gongfu" or "Gongshi".

In the Jin Dynasty, the Book of Jin and the Biography of Zhang Hua had the following records:

At the beginning of the Jin Dynasty, when Emperor Wu was in the middle of the two constellations of Dou and Niu (it is said that it is the sky above the boundary between Wu and Yue), it was found that there was often purple gas. Zhang Hua, who was the official of the "Zhongshu Order" at that time, asked Lei Huan, who was good at observing the heavens, what was the reason. Lei Huan said, "This is the light of the sword. Judging from this light that rushes straight into the bullfight, that sword must be extraordinary! Zhang Hua asked again where the sword was. After Lei Huan made a careful observation, he replied: "In Fengcheng County, Yuzhang County" (Fengcheng is near present-day Nanchang, Jiangxi). Zhang Hua recommended Lei Huan to serve as the commander of Fengcheng County and took office immediately. Lei Huan arrived in Fengcheng and concentrated on finding the whereabouts of the sword, and finally found the source of the sword light in the underground of a prison. Immediately move out of the prison and dig down. Digging more than four zhang deep, found a stone box, opened it to see, it contained a pair of swords, the swords were engraved with words, one is "Longquan", the other is "Tai'a". That night, looking at the starry sky again, the purple gas between the cow and the bucket was really gone.

Of course, the above two legends cannot be true. But since we understand that "Taia" is the name of a sword, it is not difficult to understand the idiom "holding Taia" upside down.

The sword is meant to be used for self-defense, but if you hold it upside down despite the Tai'a sword, doesn't that automatically give the hilt to the other party, creating an opportunity for the other party to suffer from it?

Because "Taia" is also called "Taia", "upside down Taia" can also be used as "upside down Taia", or "Taia upside down", "Taia upside down". "The Book of the Later Han Dynasty: The Biography of He Jin" is "upside down and give people a handle", which has the same meaning.
