The idiom of "treacherous and ambushing" is to expose treachery and evil, so that it cannot be hidden, and describe the shrewdness of officials.

This idiom comes from the Hanshu. The Biography of Zhao Guanghan", his treachery and subduing like a god, are all like this.

During the reign of Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty, there was an official who did not shy away from the powerful and did not shy away from the powerful, named Zhao Guanghan. During his tenure as Yingchuan's Taishou, he once handled cases impartially and killed many heroes who brutalized the people. Later, he was transferred to the capital Chang'an to serve as Jing Zhaoyin, and often handled cases in person to catch bad guys. In handling the case, he carefully analyzed the case, looked for clues, and went to the scene to investigate. Sometimes, when suspicious situations are discovered, they personally go out to stop cases that have not yet occurred, and often catch the perpetrators red-handed.

There was a man named Su Hui, who worked as a guard in the palace, and the two bad guys learned that he was rich, so they robbed him on the road and immediately extorted ransom from his family.

The case was reported to Jing Zhaoyin's yamen, and Zhao Guanghan looked for clues from the clues, and finally found the residence of the robber. So he immediately rushed there with officers and soldiers. When he arrived at the man's residence, Zhao Guanghan considered that rushing in to arrest someone might hurt the hostage, so he came up with a solution: call the deputy to shout. The deputy knocked on the door and said to the people inside: "Listen, the people inside, Jing Zhao Yin Zhao wants me to pass on a message, and advise you not to kill the hostages who have been taken hostage." He is the emperor's bodyguard, and if you kill him, you will be finished. If you let him go, surrender yourself, and get leniency if you are lucky enough to issue a pardon to the imperial court! ”

When the two bad guys heard that Zhao Guanghan was outside the door, they thought that there was no other way out, so they had to release the hostages, open the door and kowtow to beg for mercy.

Zhao Guanghan returned the salute to them and said, "Fortunately, you didn't kill the hostages, so it will always be of some benefit to you." ”

After the two bad guys were imprisoned, Zhao Guanghan fulfilled his promise and instructed the jailers to treat them well and give them wine and meat to eat.

According to the law of the time, those who committed such a grave crime were to be beheaded. In the winter, it was finally time to carry out the execution. Zhao Guanghan asked someone to buy a coffin for them in advance and sent someone to tell them. The two of them were grateful, and said that they would never resent it even if they died.

During his tenure, Zhao Guanghan was often able to expose the hidden bad guys and bad things. Even the situation that is usually hidden, he can understand it very clearly. Once he summoned a pavilion chief from a certain place to ask about something, and the pavilion chief passed by the boundary, and the pavilion chief on the boundary jokingly asked him to greet Zhao Guanghan. When the pavilion chief arrived in the capital, Zhao Guanghan asked after asking questions: "The pavilion chief of the realm asked you to greet me, why don't you greet him on his behalf?" The pavilion chief hurriedly kowtowed and apologized, saying that it was indeed the case. Zhao Guanghan said again: "You greet the pavilion chief of the realm for me, and encourage him to be loyal to his duties and serve the court well." ”

After recounting these deeds in his biography of Zhao Guanghan, Ban Gu, the author of the Book of Han, commented that he exposed bad people and bad deeds and found hidden and unrevealed situations, just like a god.
