In this imposing and messy building, it's impossible to judge the passing of a moment.

The uneasiness of losing control of the concept of time, and the resulting trance-like dismay, are so real and familiar.

It's like being in the Tower of the World. They couldn't help but wonder if the doctor had really done something to the house.

But when the group returned to the living room and looked out the window, the sky was indeed dark.

There was not the slightest warmth on the distant coastline, the sun was gone, and the afterglow echoed through the world like a lingering ghost, hovering in everyone's dried and nearly depleted pupils.

The living room was still as familiar as it had been before they left......
