The difference between painting and carving is that painting is flat and carving is three-dimensional. This piece of jade is about square shape, and it is obviously impractical to hollow out it into a luanniao. And it's too much of a waste of jade. Still, it should be made like a relief sculpture and painted with a bird pattern on each side.

After deciding on the topic, the goal was finally clarified.
