Chapter 1 Notes
Mental hospitals are places that are difficult for ordinary people to access, and they are basically closed. I have been working in ZS City since I graduated, and if you have friends here, you will definitely know about the Second Hospital, which is a mental hospital.
At the beginning of September '95, the hospital announced that it would be closed for rectification, and all employees were on leave pending notice. The leave lasted 20 days, and when the staff went to work on 21 September, they found that the number of patients in the hospital had disappeared by 37. The hospital announced that the 37 mentally ill patients had been transferred to other psychiatric hospitals for further treatment.
Such a large number of mass transfers are indeed rare for a psychiatric hospital.
But it's not that simple, the truth is that I read from a notebook that the 37 mentally ill people were not transferred, but ...... Mass suicide!
Eight years ago, in '97, there was a doctor of psychology who went incognito to this psychiatric hospital in order to complete a thesis, but three months later, he really went crazy!
Later, he was picked up from a psychiatric hospital by his family, and no one knows why he went crazy. Until one day, I saw that notebook.
Judging from the first few words of the note, the author did indeed only come to write a thesis, but as he gradually went deeper into the hospital, the author accidentally discovered the fact that the 37 mentally ill patients in 95 were not transferred to the hospital for treatment, but committed collective suicide!
The author merely recorded the truth in his notes, but did not intend to make it public. This matter is in the past, and the notes do not record much relevant information, and the text after turning the page is basically a record of information that is helpful to the paper.
It wasn't until I read the whole notebook that I seemed to understand why the author was crazy. The following is the original text of the note (just one of them, I think it is necessary to excerpt it.) )
Original:
Some people think that mental hospitals must be chaotic, but this is not the case. If someone can't sleep at night, the doctor will give him an injection or take medicine. In the middle of the night, I woke up, there were three people in our room, and the other two were sleeping soundly, I guess it was the middle of the night, and there should be no one else in the hallway except for the nurse on duty. However, I glanced out of the door in the faint light of the hallway, and there was a man in white who was staring in, and I was scared, and I didn't dare to go out to look at it, and I didn't ask who it was, so I didn't look at it, but I could feel that it was still in the doorway. I covered my head under the quilt, and I don't know how long it was, but I fell asleep, and nothing happened that night. Another day in the middle of the night, I woke up, I saw someone on the glass of the door with a finger writing and drawing, because there was a ha, so leave a mark one by one, and just like last time, I don't look, I don't dare to ask who it is, everyone else is sleeping soundly, I dare to guarantee that I am not hallucination. I said I was very bold, and the next day during the day I looked at the doors and windows and there was nothing on them. There will always be supernatural things in hospitals, especially psychiatric hospitals, because the people who live there have very weak yang energy. I told the nurse about it, and the nurse said to turn on the lights in the hallway at night. And don't let me say it to others.
This text may seem prosaic, but in fact, there are a lot of key messages hidden in it. This text is nearing the end of the note, and in the next two (and the last two) notes, one sentence is repeated: there is a human face inside the glass.
This sentence sounds weird, but it also depends on how the person understands it. The glass here obviously refers to the glass on the doors and windows, and the normal understanding of this sentence should be "to see a human face through the window." ”。 But the article repeatedly emphasized that "there is a human face inside the glass." At first, I thought it was a clerical error on the part of the author, after all, the style of the text in the notes is very casual, and it is not as official and rigorous as the paper.
So I carefully read the notes again, although the writing of the notes is very casual, but the logic is clear and the thinking is rigorous, and throughout the whole text, except for the sentence "there is a human face in the glass", there is no similar "sick sentence".
The author is a doctor of psychology, and taking notes is a common thing for him, so this kind of basic sentence error should not appear, and then combined with various inferences, I think the meaning of "there is a human face in the glass" in the article means that there is a human face in the glass.
This is a bit supernatural, the face and the glass overlap, throwing away the myth and ghostism, the only reasonable explanation is that the glass on the doors and windows is an LED display.
In the mid-nineties, color TVs were popularized, and black-and-white TVs were being phased out. Although the author is a madman now, he was indeed a normal person when he wrote this notebook, and it is impossible to distinguish between glass and the display screen.
I myself am more materialistic and have never believed in the existence of ghosts and gods. It wasn't until I saw this notebook that my worldview began to change subversively.
Three months later, I got into the car that came to pick up the patients from the second hospital, and the scenery outside the window slowly passed by, and I didn't have time to care, this time I went in, or find out the truth or go crazy, just like the man eight years ago.
In order to be able to enter the second hospital, I prepared for three months, and during these three months, I caused all kinds of crazy incidents, beatings, and self-harm, until the people around me were convinced that I was mentally ill, and I got on the bus to the second hospital as I wished. And the price behind this is the scars all over his body and the departure of his girlfriend.
The reason why I was in a psychiatric hospital at all costs was that the doctor of psychology was my father.
The car was parked at the entrance of the second hospital, and the hospital has only two medical departments: the tuberculosis department and the psychiatric department, which means that this hospital specializes in tuberculosis and severe mental illness.
When SARS was raging in '02, this hospital used to be a concentration of patients in the area, and in the early days of SARS, a large number of tuberculosis patients died here every day due to the lack of treatment drugs.
A very good friend of mine, Monkey (nickname), died in this hospital that year, and I was very uncomfortable for a while.
I read a report that in 69 years, a foreign psychologist sent eight normal people to different psychiatric hospitals for experiments, the purpose of which was to see if these so-called psychiatrists could really distinguish between normal and mentally ill people, but in the end, many of these eight people were labeled as "manic-depressive" or "schizophrenic". The psychologist reported the results of the experiment, and the director of one hospital was not convinced, arguing that the staff would treat everyone admitted to the psychiatric hospital as a patient in a strict manner, so the misjudgment occurred without knowing it. So the psychologist and the dean made an appointment to do another experiment, and in the next three months, the psychologist would send some normal people to the mental hospital. Three months later, more than 100 people were believed to have been sent by a psychologist, who said he had never sent anyone to a psychiatric hospital.
