Chapter 1 - Planet Io

Next Chapter

In 2731 A.D., the constellation Centauri NGC5139, the star of Io

As the star's dazzling light faded into the waves and slowly set over the horizon, the young commander of the Io Fortress, Paraná, was taking a leisurely walk along the shore. The commander was only in his early twenties, and his simple regular clothes were originally very neat, but with his thin figure and messy black hair, he showed a little loneliness.

It is no wonder, after all, that he became the commander of the fleet at the age of twenty-one.

It's a pleasure to be the commander of a fortress on Io planet, Paraná thought.

Io is located at the edge of the NGC5139 galaxy cluster and orbits a young main-sequence star. Whether it's light, atmosphere, or gravity, it's no different from Earth. What's more, because Io's orbit is approximately circular, and the equatorial plane coincides with the ecliptic plane, there are no four seasons here, and the temperature is maintained at about 20 degrees Celsius all year round. The fortress is built on the only piece of land on the planet and is surrounded by an endless ocean. The island's shores are filled with stunning white sand beaches, reminiscent of those resorts on Earth. If it weren't for Paraná's military position, he would have thought that his superiors had sent him here to make up for his recuperation leave.

The only fly in the ointment is that the planet has no life other than bacteria and primitive algae, although it is a little barren, but who cares, the soldiers have developed a pragmatic character after many years of military career, and the lack of life saves them time and energy to guard against those possible threats.

About half a year ago, the United Earth Council sent the Third Fleet to the planet to set up a fortress, and the Council ordered it to stay there pending further orders. Although Paraná understood that this was a good deal, he could not resist the order, and argued with the council about it.

Humans have come and gone in the known universe since the invention of the flipping technology, and have established outposts on many planets, but there has never been a precedent for sending an entire fleet to garrison it. What is there on this planet that is worth sending an army to garrison? Parana was puzzled.

The council did not tell him why, and he sent his cronies to spy on the grassroots and found no clues.

And by the time he left Earth, the Fifth Fleet at the forward base on the Moon had already exchanged fire with the fleet on Christelis. So Parana couldn't figure out why he was wasting one-sixth of the Earth's military power in such a time to come to a planet that seemed to have little purpose other than a vacation.

Christelis is a major problem for mankind in the solar system for nearly 100 years. Its original name was Enceladus, and it came to this planet many years ago when humans were looking for a habitable planet, only to find that the planet was full of crustacean primitive creatures. Despite the fact that these creatures have little technology and no human-like intelligence, they possess an unusually strong carapace and biological functions that humans did not anticipate.

They were unaware of the existence of the Earth, but the communication signals between the visitors and the Earth led them to discover the Earth as planned. And so their king, Chrisserys, began a never-ending war against the earth.

While the ridiculous way the Kriselis fleet jet-propelled through the universe doomed them to not get too far from Saturn, humanity couldn't leave Earth to find another home. It is known that there is a higher life on almost every planet suitable for life in the universe, and human beings are not capable of, let alone morally violated, to exterminate all life on that planet in order to occupy it.

Therefore, humans can only fight against it, but due to the unusually strong reproductive ability of the Chrisselis insects, the earth has always been at a disadvantage, but despite the endless army of Krisselis, they have never been able to attack the airspace of the earth.

In order to combat them, the Earth's resources are being depleted day by day, which has greatly affected the expansion of humanity outside the solar system. Humanity has had to establish bases on many other non-habitable planets to exploit the resources it needs.

There are no resources worth exploring on Io Planet, except for the oil buried in the ground, but who would use this kind of low-energy and polluting old fuel.

In the six months that Paraná has been in Io, although he has been greatly relaxed, he has been thinking about his battle plan with Chrisselis all the time, even if it is a walk on the beach.

Just as he was about to return to the fortress, he had just taken his eyes off the foamy waves when he noticed his lieutenant, Terdin, coming out of breath, apparently coming straight from the command room.

"Your Excellency," Testin saluted, "the guys in the lab have found some ...... at the bottom of the ocean Something, they want you to check it out. ”

"What?" Paraná frowned, he hated the so-called scientists the most, "What kind of basket did they poke again?" ”

"I don't know, Your Excellency, it seems to be something more important, they don't agree with me to inspect on your behalf, you must go there yourself."

"There's something wrong with these scientists, you know," Barana snorted disdainfully, "and they're just exaggerating their accomplishments in order to get the attention of others and make more of a name for themselves, and when we go to see them, we've found some kind of exploding stone, or some strange fossil." ”

Despite all these words, Paraná was ready to leave. Terstin continued, "They've reported these findings to the United Earth Council, using what appears to be a tier-1 encrypted channel for the fleet. ”

"Who gave them permission? Those people are just some subordinate departments that are routinely equipped with every fleet, which guy violated the rules and gave these people first-level authority? Parana was furious.

"I guess it's the great scientist Rito Trip—my people recognized him in that group of scientists—"

What the! Parana was deeply shocked, and his anger disappeared in an instant. He had no idea of Ritotrip's existence. The world-renowned scientist had been here for half a year, and as the commander of the fortress, he had not received any news. This seems to explain some of the problems...... Paraná somewhat understood.

"—and Squee, Sblin and Sboone." Testin continued to give his name.

With each name, Paraná understood what was happening. These are some of the best scientists on Earth, and it's no coincidence that they're gathered here, and the United Earth Council must know what's on this planet......
