Chaos: The Great Wisdom of Zhuangzi
"Zhuangzi Emperor Ying":
"The emperor of the South China Sea is a man, the emperor of the North Sea is a sudden, and the emperor of the center is chaos. When you meet in the land of chaos, chaos treats you very well. He conspired to repay the virtue of chaos, saying: 'Everyone has seven tricks to eat and breathe, this is unique, try to chisel it.' 'One day chisels, seven days and chaos dies. ”
Although, I don't know much about the meaning of Zhuangzi's "chaos". However, with a superficial understanding of the literal meaning of "chaos", I feel that my own state is a kind of "chaos". Because of this, my next speculation or interpretation of this passage in Zhuangzi's "Emperor Ying" must also be "chaotic".
The wisdom of Zhuangzi is great wisdom, and it is incomparable!
After reading this paragraph of "Zhuangzi and Emperor Ying" above, ordinary people will probably fall into a state, which can also be called "chaos".
It can be said that we read a lot from this short text; It can also be said that after reading this paragraph, we don't know anything.
It's like reading poetry. However, this feeling is different from reading poetry, because poetry is mostly emotional, and our perception of poetry is mostly concentrated at the level of literature.
Looking at Zhuangzi's writings, he seems to be telling fairy tales, and there are too many "reason" meanings in these fairy tales, based on this, many people will elevate Zhuangzi and his writings to the level of philosophers and philosophy.
The imagination of Zhuangzi's genius is beyond the reach of those as stupid as me.
Let's carefully study this passage from the Zhuangzi Ying Emperor above.
In terms of literal cognition, "倏" and "suddenly" are the concepts of time; "Chaos" is the concept of space when heaven and earth are not opened. It is inferred from this that the encounter of "sudden", "sudden" and "chaotic" is the interweaving of time and space. This kind of immensity and vastness of time and space interweaving cannot achieve such a pattern without a genius like Zhuangzi.
"Suddenly" and "suddenly" are concepts of time. Time can be felt but cannot be seen or touched. Zhuangzi made the "倏" and "Su" of the concept of time both "emperors", and made them divide into two domains: "倏" is the emperor of the South China Sea; "Suddenly" is the emperor of the North Sea. Some believe that this is an anthropomorphic technique; In my opinion, this kind of imagination of Zhuangzi is not covered by the anthropomorphic technique of literary concepts. "倏" and "suddenly" are time, "emperor" is the superhuman "god of territorial waters", and "South China" and "Beihai" are the vast territories owned by the "two emperors"; Again, this is a fusion of time, space, man, or superman. This kind of genius imagination is also beyond the reach of ordinary people.
Zhuangzi's consciousness of "south", "north" and "center" is very clear. The vastness of the south is the endless sea, which is Qingming; The vastness of the north is the boundless sea, and it is also clear; The center is confined by the sea, and I don't know why, so it can only be "chaos". This kind of atmospheric geographical concept, in his eyes, all things in heaven and earth are just "small universes".
"Suddenly" and "suddenly" are conscious, why, because their meaning is "hurry"; "Chaos" is unconscious, why, because his meaning is "vague". Because of this, there is a distinction between "knowledge" and "ignorance", and between "doing" and "not doing". It is precisely because of this distinction that the following is produced, and it is turned into a tragicomedy.
"Suddenly" and "suddenly" are both "knowing".
This kind of "knowledge" is not the "superior knowledge (same wisdom)" mentioned by the master in the Analects of Yang Goods, but a kind of self-righteous "little wisdom". This kind of "knowledge" is the common disease of many people, a non-natural thing that is impregnated by society, and it is also something that Zhuangzi has always rejected.
"Chaos" is "ignorance." This kind of "ignorance" is not the "foolishness" mentioned by the master in the Analects of Yang Goods. This kind of "ignorance" is not stupidity, but a naturally growing thing, the true nature of human nature, and a reality that does not need to be suppressed or changed by those rules and regulations.
"倏" and "suddenly" are both "promising".
This kind of "promising" may be the so-called "positive and enterprising" that Zhuangzi aimed at when he criticized Confucianism. First of all, this kind of "promising" may be a kind of "mediocrity disturbance" when "there is nothing in the world"; secondly, this kind of "promising" may also be the source of chaos when "there is something in the world"; Third, if the nature is true, then this kind of "promising" must be a kind of "painting snakes and adding to the burden" of labor and money.
"Chaos" is "inaction", and this "inaction" is not "inaction" or "idleness". First of all, this kind of "inaction" is to maintain the authenticity; Second, this kind of "inaction" is itself a kind of "action".
In the case of "knowledge" and "ignorance", "doing" and "not doing", the incident happened.
The south and north are divided, and the center is the only one, so "chaos" and "sudden" are one category, and "chaos" is a family of its own. "倏" and "suddenly" are a category, they are "never tired of looking at each other"; "Chaos" is in a class of its own, so it will be incompatible with them.
According to Lao Tzu, they should "never get along with each other until old age and death", but because they are "knowledgeable", they will collude. In addition to reciprocal interactions between them, they also have to be "promising", that is, to influence others and the surrounding environment.
"倏" and "suddenly" meet in the chaotic territory from time to time. "Chaos" is by heart and treats them well. It was supposed to be a very simple matter. "Being kind to others" is the original intention of "chaos", the innocence that is not mixed with any worldly feelings, and it is a natural thing, without asking for anything in return, without merit. However, in the ideology of "倏" and "ignorance", "gratitude and retribution" is their consistent belief. They will be worried, if there is no "Thanksgiving Diagram", first, will "Chaos" be very lost? Second, next time, will "Chaos" still be "good to others"? Third, wouldn't it ruin their reputation? Fourth, it may lead to abnormal relationships and social chaos. "Knowledge" means "promising", "倏" and "Su" discussed it privately, and felt that they should really "repay virtue with kindness". They look at themselves, at Chaos, at people. I think the best way to repay "Chaos" is to make "Chaos" "like a person". However, have they ever thought that if "chaos" is "like a person", then "chaos" is still not "chaos"? As a result, "Strange" and "Sudden" created a "trick" for "Chaos" in one day, and after digging for seven days, "Chaos" finally "resembled a person" - with "Seven Tricks". However, tragedy struck, and "Chaos" was dug up to death.
In fact, Zhuangzi's wisdom does not stop there. All I saw was "chaos".
We all think we're smart, but we're all stupid. We are constantly self-righteous, we are constantly imposing our will on others. We here are not limited to a single individual!
Great Zhuangzi!
Knowing (can be wise), Zhuangzi!
Woe, chaos!
