In the twenty-sixth year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1900), the seventeenth cave of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang was discovered and the Tibetan scripture cave shocked the world.

Unfortunately, under the specific historical background of the corruption and incompetence of the late Qing government and the invasion of China by Western powers, soon after the discovery of the cultural relics in the Tibetan Scripture Cave, Western explorers such as the British Stein, the legal person Bo Xihe, the Japanese Tachibana Ruichao, and the Russian Edenburg came to Dunhuang one after another.

By unfair means, a large number of cultural relics in the cave were defrauded from the hands of the Taoist priest, resulting in the looting of the cultural relics in the cave, and most of them were unfortunately scattered and stored in many public and private collection institutions in Britain, France, Russia, Japan and other countries.

Only a small part of it has been preserved in China, causing an unprecedented catastrophe in the history of Chinese culture.

And why is there such a scripture cave? Dunhuang experts and scholars have carefully consulted the vast materials of the Dunhuang testament, but have never found a written record of solving the mystery.

I had to find another way, inferred from other historical sources, and put forward various hypotheses in an attempt to solve this eternal mystery. The main statements are as follows:

1. Refuge theory: It is believed that so many scriptures and suicide notes were hidden in the stone chamber and sealed, and the monks of the Mogao Grottoes stored them in order to avoid the war and save the scriptures and suicide notes from the flames of war.

2. Discarding the theory: It is believed that these scriptures and testaments are useless waste products abandoned by the monks of Dunhuang at that time. Because there are many Buddhist scriptures, in order to respect the Dharma and Buddhist scriptures, these used scriptures can neither be discarded nor burned, so they have to be sealed in this stone room.

3. The renovation of the library says:

Scholars who hold this view believe that around 1000 A.D., the folded scriptures had been transmitted from the Central Plains to Dunhuang. Because it is easy to read and carry, it is favored by monks. Therefore, the scroll-type Buddhist scriptures, which are inconvenient to use in the library, and many miscellaneous items are placed in the stone room and closed.

However, experts and scholars have always debated the above theories, and the mystery of the Tibetan scripture cave has not been solved so far.

"When I saw these three assertions just now, I suddenly thought: Can there be a fourth possibility, which is the 'blinding method', to have a bright plank road to darken Chen Cang?"

Arrived at the Tibetan scripture cave of the seventeenth cave, there are already a few tourists in the visit, everyone sees the north wall of the seventeenth cave facing the cave door, there is a statue of a high monk who sits in the form of meditation, the posture is upright and strong, the face is solemn and kind.

The west side of the cave wall is inlaid with a piece of inscription, and after studying, I know that this is the shadow hall and statue of the late Tang Dynasty Shimen Hexi Monk Tong Hongbi.

After the statue of Hong Bian, a Bodhi tree is painted on the north wall, and the branches are hung with water bottles and satchels. On the left side of the tree there is a bhikshuni holding a fan, and on the right side there is a maid holding a staff near it. The mural is perfectly combined with the statue of Hong Biancai.

After turning around, I didn't find anything suspicious.

Bai Yunfei analyzed: "Judging from the situation in the Hidden Scripture Cave, I think that if there is really a passage to the hidden tomb here, then the entrance may be:

1. Under the statue, because the base under the wooden board is hollow, it is very likely to be like a manhole cover and a cellar cover, and the passage will be exposed when opened;

Second, after the inscription, everyone also saw it at the scene, this monument is more than two meters high, and the width is also very easy to pass;

3. The surrounding cave walls;

Fourth, under the floor tiles of the roof or ground.

But the first and second possibilities are questionable, since the statues and inscriptions were removed in order to hide the scriptures and canons.

In other words, if there is a passage under the statue or behind the stele, unless there is a camouflage layer, it should have been discovered when the statue and the stele were removed.

The remaining third and fourth are also very probable, because this seventeenth cave is located on the lowest level of the three-story cave, and it is built on the mountain, so there are too many directions to hide the secret passage. ”

Then everyone took up their heavy backpacks, and took sapper shovels, sapper pickaxes and other tools from the car and inserted them into the rings outside the knapsacks, wrapped them in cotton pads, and tied them with small ropes to prevent them from hitting each other and making a sound.

Now everyone is wearing security uniforms that imitate SWAT training uniforms, and then they all wear masks.

Except for the seventh and eighth children, the rest of the people grabbed sand from the ground and rubbed it on their hair, faces, and clothes.

After a while, he became a "native man", and he couldn't see the primary colors at all except for the eye area.

Bai Yunfei and Niu Gang don't need to be reminded by others, and when they see how everyone does it, they also imitate it according to the gourd.

As a result, this team of seven or eight people was dressed in the same way, and they were all mixed into earth-colored camouflage suits, and the low-light mode adjusted by the strong light flashlight was almost the same as the background color of the surrounding desert and cave earth mountains if you didn't look carefully.

It is estimated that lying on the ground, people walking at night can't see it if they don't pay attention, and they can't feel the abnormality until they step on it.

It was obviously unrealistic to go directly through the gate, so everyone went around, chose a very dark place with a relatively low height and climbed up, supported each other, and climbed in.

Then choose a dark corner to move forward, and once you come across a place with lights that you can't get around, you will first lurk in the shadows.

After a while, it was confirmed that there would be no patrolmen for the time being, and then they quickly rushed through the light area in turn, and disappeared into the darkness again.

After such twists and turns, he finally arrived outside the Tibetan scripture cave of the seventeenth cave without danger.

I saw that Su Lao Ghost took out a few regular things like thin wires from his clothes pocket, and Sun Er held the flashlight with one hand to prevent the light from dissipating, and only shone on the lock on the wooden door outside the cave.

Old Ghost Su stuck the tool in his hand in the keyhole, and after tinkering for a while, the lock finally opened with a "snap".

Leave Lao Ba to guard this wooden door, watch the movement outside, prevent people from coming in at night, and catch everyone off guard.
