Chapter 40: Homer's Epic

Chapter 40: Homer's Epic

(Note: The following is a rough outline of the Homeric epic, a manuscript recorded on an ancient parchment scroll.) For more up-to-date chapters, visit: ะจะฉะฉ.(7)(9)XS.ัะžะœ. For ease of understanding, some names of people and places in the 12th century BC are expressed as well-known names)

On a star-studded night, the young craftsman Prometheus awoke from his sleep. He was surprised to find that he was not at home, but in the wilderness. The shadows of the trees all around, the cold wind blowing, which makes people shudder.

Prometheus didn't understand why he was in this dark forest. He was only a small country in the ancient Greek period. In the 12th century B.C., there was no such thing as a "Greek". But for the sake of convenience, the term will be used hereinafter) A very ordinary craftsman, who made sculptures and clay pots for his daily life, lived by the sea in the southern Peloponnese, but in the foreground it resembled Mount Olympus in the far north.

In his confusion, Prometheus saw a faint fire in front of him, and it seemed that some people had gathered there. He walked in the direction of the firelight.

It's a clearing in the middle of the forest, and a bonfire burns in the middle of it. There were dozens of people gathered around the campfire. These people looked just as confused and frightened as Prometheus, and apparently they were also inexplicably here, completely unaware of what was happening. These people range in age from male to 'female'. They didn't know each other, but judging by their attire, they seemed to come from different countries, and there were even Trojans on the other side of the sea.

Prometheus quickly noticed an old man of about 50 years old standing in the middle of the clearing, next to the campfire. His expression and attitude were clearly different from those around him. It seems that he knows exactly what this situation is all about. Prometheus guessed that it seemed that the old man had summoned them here.

Sure enough, after a few more people gathered, the old man in the middle of the clearing spoke: "Ladies and gentlemen, the place where you are now is Mount Olympus. And 50 of you, from the Greek tribes and the Trojan allies. It is God's will to choose 50 of you. As for my identity, I believe you can already guess through this incredible event that I am the God of heaven. โ€

The old man's words were shocking, but the majesty and solemnity that was 'revealed' in his demeanor showed that his identity was unquestionable. Fifty people knelt down and bowed to God as a sign of respect.

"Everyone, please get up, no need to be polite. It is not who I am who you prostrate. I'm only temporarily attached to a 'bard', but for now, he represents me. God told the people.

After the 50 men stood up, God cut to the chase and said solemnly, "Listen carefully to what I am going to say next, for this is why I have called you here." And this will determine your own fate and the fate of the world. โ€

50 people held their breath and listened.

God said, "Heaven will give mankind a chance before the world is destroyed." Elect a number of representatives from among the human race and give them extraordinary abilities that are capable of changing the fate of the whole world. You are the 50 people who have been chosen by Heaven to possess extraordinary abilities. โ€

Hearing this, everyone was excited and rejoiced that they were about to become extraordinary people. Only Prometheus' face was 'worried', because he noticed the first words of the god and could not help asking, "Honorable gods, you say that the world is about to be destroyed?" What's going on? โ€

God noticed the young man and said, "Yes, in the near future, the world will be faced with a series of great tribulations, including wars, plagues, and natural disasters. If left unchecked, the civilization you have built will be destroyed. Heaven has mercy on you, and I have given you 50 superpowers that human beings should not have, and I hope that you can use your respective abilities, unite and help each other, overcome disasters together, and defend civilization. โ€

One of the Trojans asked, "So, what kind of power will we have?" โ€

God said, "The superpowers of each of you are up to you." I will give you time to think, and then each of you will say what you would like to be capable of. It is believed that these abilities are sufficient to represent the civilization of this era. โ€

The crowd fell into deep thought. Prometheus has been a smart man since he was a child, and his mind turned quickly, thinking, the person who chooses the ability first, naturally has the greatest choice. The further back you go, the less power you have to choose from. This means that the person who picks first may be more capable than the person who comes later. But on the other hand, everything is mutually reinforcing, and those who choose first may also be restrained by those who come later......

At the moment, everyone is thinking about the superpower they want to have, except for Prometheus. He was thinking about how to become the strongest of the 50 superpowers, or rather, the most advantageous. God asked them to unite and help each other, but he had a hunch through his clever mind that these 50 people who had acquired superpowers would sooner or later become enemies against each other.

After some time, God asked the people to say what they wanted to do. A blacksmith named Hephaestus looked at the bonfire and was the first to say: "Fire is a symbol of human civilization and a thing on which human beings live. God, please give me the power to control fire! โ€

God nodded in agreement. A handsome young man named A'Bo Luo said, "Oh, I also want to choose 'fire' as an ability, but since you have preempted me, I have nothing to say. So, dear gods, please give me a similar ability to control 'light and heat', okay? โ€

God agreed. Next, everyone said what they wanted to achieve.

A young girl named Artemis said: "Since they have chosen the ability related to light and heat, then I will choose the opposite, I hope that with the 'moonlight' as the ability, whenever the night comes, when the moon is in the sky, I can condense the moonlight and turn it into an arrow to protect the people I love." โ€

A strong man named Zeus said, "The most powerful thing in heaven and earth is not fire, but thunder and lightning. I want to have the ability to control lightning. โ€

A man named 'Bo' Saidon said: "No, the power of thunder and lightning is certainly strong, but it is always narrower than the vast and boundless ocean. If I could possess the ability to control the 'ocean', I would be unmatched. โ€

A man named Ares seemed to be aggressive, and he said, "In my opinion, the moonlight, the thunder, the sea, these have little to do with us. Didn't the gods say that war would break out in the future, and that being able to control the situation in the war was the most practical thing. And war necessarily depends on weapons, so I want to have the ability to control 'weapons'. โ€

A 'woman' named Athena agreed: "Yes, survival and victory in the chaos of war is the most important thing. More importantly, it can guide and stop wars. To do this, you must have great 'power'! โ€

Another beautiful 'woman' named Aphrodite said: "It is not only strength and weapons that can make people submit, but love and friendship are more able to conquer people's hearts." I want to have the ability to control my emotions. โ€

A 'woman' named Hera, who also possessed extraordinary beauty and nobility, chimed in: "I approve of the greatness of love, but I value loyalty more than not. If the person I love dares to betray me, I will punish him severely. Allow me, O God, to punish all the betrayers and reckless people in the world and give me the power to 'chase.' โ€

A young man named Hermes laughed: "Haha, I'm just a businessman in a small business, and my thinking is not as complicated as yours." I'm constantly worried about traveling between two places that are far away, and it would be nice if I could walk fast. God, please let me control the speed. โ€

A peasant woman named Demeter said: "You seem to have neglected the most important things. In order to survive, people must depend on the mother land of all things. Plants, grains and a variety of crops provide us with abundant products. And once the earth is angry, it will also be a disaster for the people. So, I hope to gain the ability to control the 'earth'. โ€

Then, everyone said what they wanted to have, but Prometheus didn't say a word, thinking to himself.

Finally, when the other 49 had finished speaking, God looked at Prometheus and asked, "Young man, you are the only one left, tell me what you hope to have." โ€

Prometheus thought twice and said, "I believe that the most powerful thing in the world is 'human' itself. And the strength of human beings does not lie in physique and strength, if these are concerned, human beings are far inferior to lions, tigers, bears, and leopards. โ€

God asked, "Why do you think human beings are powerful?" โ€

"Human beings are strong because they have 'wisdom', which can make people progress, develop, change their destiny, and make human beings become the most powerful life forms in the universe." Prometheus said, "O God, give me the most 'wise' mind of all mankind!" โ€

God nodded in agreement. As a result, all 50 people have their own superpowers, becoming the 50 most special and powerful people in the world.

God once again admonished them: "Heaven has given you extraordinary abilities to protect your fellow man, to protect your homeland, and to continue life and civilization." You can't fight against each other for your own selfish gain. In the end, not only did it fail to prevent the war, but it became the source of the war's scourge. Remember, the fate of humanity is in your hands. โ€

After saying this, the old man's body shook a little, as if something had 'pumped' out of his body and floated away.

The crowd inquired and learned that the name of the old bard was Homer. He didn't know what God had possessed of him. Nor did the crowd understand why God had chosen Homer as his spokesman. When they tell Homer what happened, Homer is shocked and intends to record it.

Prometheus wakes up from his sleep again to find himself back in his familiar home. Everything in the dream is vivid and impressive. He couldn't feel the change in himself, and suspected that it was just a very memorable dream.

But soon, Prometheus was delighted to discover that this was not a dream, and that he had indeed gained extraordinary "wisdom". The most direct proof of this is that he can guess what a person is thinking by looking at his eyes; He can also analyze why everything happens and the connections that exist between all things; He understood a lot of things that he didn't understand before, and made philosophical generalizations.

However, these are not the most important things.

Prometheus's extraordinary wisdom gave him the ability to "foresee". Regardless of people or things, he can see the trend of their development, as well as the future results.

He foresaw the day when war would come, and knew the reason for it. This ten-year battle was sparked by the voyage of Paris, Prince of Troy. This lustful prince 'lured' away Helen, the beautiful queen of the Greek Spartan king Menelaus, caused a decade-long war between the two sides.

Although Prometheus foresaw the coming war, he did not try to prevent it. On the contrary, he looked forward to the war.

The reason is, he realized, this was his chance. Through this war, he will be able to get rid of the superpowers who have become revered as "gods". Then, he will become the master of this world.

Since the arrival of the gods, 50 superpowers have returned to their countries and tribes, and they have displayed extraordinary abilities and are worshipped as gods. Hephaestus, who originally chose "fire", was called "the god of fire and forging"; A'boro, who chooses "light and heat", is worshipped as the "sun god"; Artemis is known as the "goddess of the moon"; Zeus became the "god of thunder"; 'Bo' Sedon is the "Sea Emperor"; Even the peasant 'woman' became the "goddess of the earth"; Hermes, the merchant who had a small business, became the patron god of merchants and travelers, as if he were the "god of guidance......

Almost every superpowered person has incarnated as a god and enjoys the respect and worship of human beings. Temples were even built for them and offerings were made.

There is only one person except for it, and that is Prometheus.

People hardly knew of his existence, let alone regarded him as a "god." Because Prometheus never showed his superpowers. He just waited silently, waiting for the opportunity to come.

He knew very well in his heart that the outbreak of war was a turning point in his fate. He will therefore be the winner in the end.

Prince Paris did, as Prometheus predicted, rob the beautiful Queen Helen from Greece. This is a great shame for the Greeks. War broke out.

Prometheus joined the allied Greek forces attacking Troy as a common soldier. Using his ability to preserve, he helped the Greek army win several successive victories and was quickly promoted to one of the generals of the Greek coalition.

Once, Achilles, the general of the Greek army, with the help of Prometheus, sacked the city of Chrysei, and captured the "daughter" of the old priest of the temple of A'Boro, who was very beautiful. Prometheus deliberately offered it as a trophy to the Greek commander Aga Mennon.

After the Aga 'Gate' farmer took possession of the old priest's daughter, the old priest came to the Greek army with a golden scepter of peace, a crown of flowers representing the "sun god" A'Boro, and a huge ransom to beg for the release of the 'daughter'.

The people respected the old priest and were willing to receive a ransom, intending to accede to his request. But Prometheus secretly said to Aga Mennon: "You are the supreme commander of the whole Greek army, but you cannot keep even a share of your spoils, and if you spread the word, where is your majesty?" โ€

Therefore, Aga 'Men' changed his mind, and he pointed at the old priest and scolded: "Get out, old fellow! Whatever priest you are, when I conquer Troy, I will take your daughter-in-law back to Greece and be my wife. โ€

The old priest was terrified and full of sorrow. Sadly, he came to the temple and cried to A'Boro: "O respected sun god, the Greeks have rudely insulted me, a lonely old man, please do me justice!" โ€

A'Po'lo was furious when he learned that someone had dared to be so rude to his priests. Originally, the superpowers were warned by the gods to dare not participate in the war, but A'Boro' was young and vigorous, and he considered himself one of the strongest of the 50 superpowers, he ignored the gods' admonitions, came to the Greek army, condensed the sun's rays into countless arrows, and 'shot' at the Greek warriors.

Ah 'Bo' Luo's magic arrow 'shot' for nine days in a row, and ordinary soldiers could not confront Ah 'Bo' Luo with divine power at all. The Greek soldiers suffered numerous casualties and retreated.

However, what he didn't expect was that among the Greek soldiers he 'shot' to death, there was a general named Diomedes, one of the bravest generals in the Greek army, and at the same time, he was also the younger brother of another "goddess". This 'female' god is none other than Hera, who later married Zeus and was honored as the "Queen of Heaven".

Hera was furious when she learned that her brother had been 'shot' to death by the sun god's arrows. She also threw God's admonition behind her and vowed to take revenge on A'Po'lo.

Hera's abilities were terrifying, and anyone she approached and "punished" would die in extreme pain. A'po', who had always been conceited, was also afraid of her and withdrew temporarily.

Failing to avenge her brother's death, Hera became angry with others associated with the sun god, and some innocent people died tragically under her terrifying powers. People were so afraid of her that they called her "vengeful goddess".

A'Po'ro and Hera's actions are blatantly contrary to God's instructions, but the other superpowers discover that God does not appear again to punish them. They also couldn't hold back, because they were also Greeks or Trojans, and they had hated each other for a long time. Once someone takes the lead, the rest of the superpowers are thrown into the war one by one.

The sun god A'Bo'ro, the god of war Ares, the love goddess Aphrodite, and the rainbow goddess Elise supported the Trojans, while the vengeful goddess Hera, the sea emperor Bo' Sedon, the goddess of war Athena, and the god of sleep Hupnos sided with the Greeks.

The great 'chaos' war between man and "God" has made the war white-hot. This protracted war lasted almost a decade. During this period, the superpowers were killed and wounded in battle, and in the end, only a dozen people remained.

While the "gods" were involved in the war, Prometheus quietly left. Because his goal has been achieved, he just needs to watch the fire from the other side and clean up the mess. In this famous Trojan War, almost no name of Prometheus remains. No one will know that it was this man who would later be called the "God of Prophets" who escalated the war.

In the final stages of the war, the situation was tragic. In a battle, the Trojan prince Paris and the Greek general Achilles were killed in battle, and both sides suffered heavy casualties. The Greeks attacked several more times, but failed to do so. The tall, fortified walls of the city of Troy protected the Trojans. They held on to the city and never fought again.

At this time, Prometheus reappeared. He knew that the war had to have an outcome, and it could not be left alone. The "gods" must also make further decisions.

Using extraordinary intelligence, Prometheus came up with a brilliant plan. He dedicated this plan to a man in the Greek army named Sinon. It was because of this "great" Trojan horse that the Greeks turned defeat into victory and won the final victory in the Trojan War.

At the end of the long war, both man and "God" were exhausted. I thought I could finally live a stable life, but plagues and natural disasters followed one after another.

The world is once again plunged into fear, confusion and chaos, and the only thing people can rely on at this time is the dozen or so "gods" left after the war. In fact, the "earth's 'female' god" Demeter, the "'female' god of the hearth" Hestia, the "god of wine" Dionysus, the "textile 'goddess'" Hestia, the "god of wind" Aeolo and other kind and righteous superpowers have indeed brought blessings to mankind. They helped mankind overcome plagues, overcome disasters, and rebuild their homes, and won the admiration and reverence of the people.

Prometheus, however, was thinking about something else. He believes that there is no need for so many "gods" in the world, just one is enough. The greatest deity of all is himself. He alone can ultimately rule and guide mankind.

Just as he had discovered the opportunity of war, Prometheus had once again found an entry point that would bring the gods at odds. At this time, Zeus, the "god of thunder" (revered as the "Heavenly Father"), who can call the wind and rain, and Hera, the "vengeful 'female' god", got married. A strong combination that makes them the leaders of the "gods". But in Prometheus's view, this was another opportunity given to him by God.

Prometheus is very aware of Zeus's lustful nature, and even more aware of Hera's jealous nature. It's just too easy to provoke them to fight each other.

Rumors began to circulate about Zeus and other 'female' gods, and these exaggerated rumors reached Hera's ears. Hera was jealous and suspicious. Even without these rumors, she often suspected that her husband was unfaithful. After hearing these rumors, she approached her husband Xingshi to ask for the guilt, and the two quarreled over it, and the relationship cracked.

At the same time, the jealous Hera uses her power and abilities to punish every 'woman' who is rumored to be close to her husband. But Athena, Artemis, and Eris, known as the "'Woman' God of Disputes", are not to be trifled with, and they also possess powerful superpowers. Thus, a battle broke out between the 'female' gods.

And that's not all, Prometheus has also figured out how to deal with Zeus. In the name of a "prophet", he spread rumors that he saw the future end of Zeus, whose reign would be overthrown by another "god", and Zeus would die at the hands of this man.

Zeus knew that Prometheus was the wisest of all superpowers, and had no doubt that he had the ability to foresee. He didn't expect it to be a 'yin' scheme.

Zeus approached Prometheus and wanted him to name the man who would overthrow him in the future, and to tell him everything he had foreseen. But Prometheus deliberately made a gesture of embarrassment, saying that if he told the secret, it would inevitably cause a dispute, and insisted on refusing to tell him. Zeus had no choice but to give up.

However, in this way, as Prometheus expected, Zeus regarded almost everyone who threatened his position as an enemy.

At this time, the cunning Prometheus spread new rumors - Zeus was about to mobilize all his forces against all those who posed a threat to him.

As a result, the strong men at that time, especially the sea emperor 'Bo' Seidon and Hades, who were on a par with Zeus, launched a 'fierce' 'melee' battle with Zeus. As a result, all three were seriously injured and nearly killed. 'Bo' Sedon hid on an island in the middle of the sea to heal his wounds, Hades fled to a valley as dark as Hades, and Zeus, who was so wounded, hid in Mount Olympus to recuperate. They have all withdrawn from the ruling class, and they are no longer able to manage the affairs of the world.

Prometheus saw that his goal was about to be achieved, and his heart was surging. But at this time, something unexpected happened. There are voices in humanity that are not against themselves.

Originally, Prometheus thought that what he was doing was extremely hidden and no one knew about it. Unexpectedly, one of the 'bard' poets in the human race 'penetrated' all his 'yin' schemes. This man tries to save the superpowers who are still alive and tell them the truth of the matter.

This 'bard' wanderer was none other than Homer, who had been possessed by the true gods. From the beginning of the Trojan War, he noticed Prometheus' ambitions and 'shady' schemes, and gathered the facts of his instigation of the gods to fight through various means. Homer didn't want to be blinded by the superpowers who had been given a mission by God. He wrote a Homeric epic to spread the truth.

Prometheus saw Homer as his great enemy. At this time, he is no longer as obscure as he was at the beginning, but uses his ability to predict to build prestige and gain people's admiration and trust. He also owned his own temple and was revered as the "God of the Prophets". Prometheus ordered a search for Homer, and finally captured Homer in the dungeon of his temple.

When Prometheus saw Homer's epic poems, he did not become angry like a man who lacked a mind, but calmly reflected on his mistakes and carelessness, and thought about how to make up for it.

Prometheus burned the Homeric Epic and then said to Homer, "Since you are keen to record and write, I will allow you to leave a copy of Homer's Epic for posterity." However, you have to write the content according to my meaning. You're still going to have the Trojan War as the main line, but you can't talk about the superpowers God has given us, but write that from the beginning, we're gods in charge of all the ministries. And you have to write about these gods as selfish, narrow-minded, and aggressive, but you can't mention my existence. I don't need you to sing my story, I will naturally ask others to write it. โ€

Homer flatly refused, "This is impossible, because I am the only one who has personally experienced the arrival of the gods except for the 50 of you, and the only one who knows the truth of the matter." And what you want me to record is obviously not the fact that I see with my eyes. I'd rather die than cheat and become a tool for you to use! โ€

Prometheus said coldly, "You better think about it before answering." I know that you have a wife and two sons, and you love them very much. If you don't do what I say, I'll find them and torture them in front of you. You know what I'm capable of, and you know my means. How to weigh it, think for yourself. โ€

Homer's remarks frightened him, and his resolve was shaken. Unable to make the people he loved suffer because of him, he relented and said, "Lord Prometheus, I am willing to write the Homeric Epic as you instruct." โ€

So Homer endured the humiliation and wrote a new Homeric epic at the request of Prometheus, covering up many of the truths and reading like a myth. Only the section on the Trojan War remains the same as before.

As soon as the new Homeric Epic was written, Prometheus blinded Homer and continued to put him under house arrest in order to prevent him from writing again, or even to tell it orally.

Homer, imprisoned in the dungeon, is full of humiliation and resentment, but has nowhere to speak. He could only pray to the gods every day and complain about Prometheus' actions over and over again, hoping that the gods would appear again and save him.

Year after year passed, and finally one day, a miracle happened. God sensed Homer's call and begging, and he descended again and possessed Homer.

Prometheus was surprised to see Homer, who was locked in the dungeon, appear in front of him, and felt that Homer's expression was very different from before. At this time, because he predicted and warned of the occurrence of several natural disasters, he was already revered as a savior-like "great god", and his status was so high that he seemed to be the head of the "gods".

"Homer" pointed at Prometheus's nose and retorted, "You despicable villain, cunning creature who is good at using 'yin' to plot tricks! When I gave you 'wisdom', I hoped that you would use your clever mind to benefit mankind, but you only used it to satisfy your 'selfishness' and 'desires'! Your ambition is so great that you want to replace me. Look at this majestic temple, do you really think of yourself as a 'god'?! โ€

Prometheus was stunned, he knew that this majesty was not something Homer could pretend, and it seemed that the real gods had come again. He quickly fell to the ground, kissed God's toes, and defended himself: "Great God, this is a great misunderstanding! I use the wisdom and foreknowledge you have given me to save tens of thousands of people from destruction. People were 'excited' to build this abode for me and offer me an offering, but that was not my intention. โ€

God was furious: "Until now, you still want to deceive me with your tongue." How can you hide your scheming and calculations from me? People are always self-righteous, self-righteous, and so bold that even the heavens dare to 'tease'. It seems that you will not be able to repent unless you are subjected to the harshest punishment! โ€

With these words, the god exerted his divine power and in an instant brought Prometheus from the temple to the cliffs of the Caucasus Mountains.

Prometheus was so frightened that his face turned white, and he did not dare to be deceived any longer, and he knelt on the ground and begged for mercy, but God had already made up his mind to punish him, ignored him, and continued to exert his divine power.

Several copper chains and steel shackles locked Prometheus and hung it over the cliff face of the Caucasus Mountains. God said to him, "My punishment for you will be to hang you forever on this cliff, scorched by the scorching sun by day and blown by the cold wind by night, but you will not die." You will endure this pain until the end of the world! โ€

Prometheus wept and pleaded, hoping that God would open his way. But he saw that God had made up his mind, and that it was in vain to ask for mercy, so he could only ask, "God, at least you can tell me when the end of the world will come?" When will I be freed from this pain? โ€

God said indifferently, "Remember what I said to you when I first appeared?" I tell you that the world will face a series of great catastrophes, including wars, plagues, and natural disasters. Do you think that when I talk about natural disasters, I just predicted a few volcanic eruptions and floods? Foolish, you would never have imagined that the great catastrophe that will destroy the world is yet to come! This catastrophe will put an end to all civilization in your time. The only way to salvation is for all 50 of you to unite and resist. But now, most of the 50 people have died because of your calculations, and it is impossible for the few people left to fight against this natural disaster. โ€

"So now you know how great your sins are, right? Because of you, the whole world will be destroyed. What an irony that you think you can lead and save humanity, only to lead them to their destruction! โ€

Prometheus cried tears of remorse and pleaded, "Great God, please give me and all mankind another chance." I swear to unite all the superpowers to fight against disasters and defend our homeland! โ€

God lamented, "There is no possibility of doing it all over again." Heaven has already given you a chance, and losing this opportunity shows that the demise of this era is irresistible. After the cataclysm, a small group of people will survive, and they will build a new civilization that, in thousands of years, may be many times better than yours. In this way, this is also the inevitable trajectory of the world's development and progress. โ€

Prometheus let out a heart-rending cry and roared, "I am not reconciled! I thought I was a person chosen by God and wanted to make a difference, but in the end, I was smart but I was mistaken by my cleverness, ruined myself, and became a sinner for the ages! Is there anyone in the world who is more tragic than me? God, why are you playing such a trick on me?! โ€

God heard Prometheus' cry full of accusations and grievances against the Divine. He thought about it for a long time, intending to give this tragic "colored" person one last chance. He said to Prometheus, "Since you are so indignant and unwilling to die, I will make an exception and give you another chance." But not now, but thousands of years from now. โ€

Prometheus saw a glimmer of hope and quickly asked what kind of opportunity it was.

God said, "Every civilization has its end date." And the merciful Heaven will always give mankind a chance to redeem itself. Civilization may be glorious thousands of years later, but one day it will come to an end. At that time, Heaven will select 50 people again, give them extraordinary abilities, and give them the task and hope to save the world. โ€

Prometheus asked, "But what does the distant future have to do with me?" โ€

God looked at him and said, "Before the day comes, I will revive your already dissipated consciousness, and you can call yourself the 'old gods' and take on the mission of informing them of everything and awakening their superpowers." And, yourself, is one of these 50 people. โ€

Prometheus thanked Heaven for His mercy and said, "I swear that when this day comes, I will treat the other 49 men as brothers and sisters and ...... with them."

Before Prometheus could finish speaking, God interrupted him: "No, you are wrong. The rules are different every time. This time, I asked 50 of you to unite and fight together, and it has failed. Thousands of years later, I don't believe that human consciousness will be raised. I have known that it is always impossible for people to abandon their selfishness and cooperate. โ€

The god groaned for a moment and said, "Since human beings love to fight and fight, I will satisfy their needs. The 50 superpowers of the future, from the day they gain their abilities, will fight and fight each other until the last winner is decided. The person who wins will gain more power than the abilities of 50 people combined. This power is even comparable to that of a true god. Since man dreams of being a god, let him be! โ€

God looked at Prometheus again: "This is the opportunity I have given you, if in this competition in the future, you can still be the final victor like this time." Then Heaven will truly give you the same power and status as God. โ€

Prometheus said, "Do as the gods have arranged." โ€

God said, "But this opportunity is not for you." In the days you hang here, I will give you a test that you can pass before the end of the world to get this chance in the future. โ€

Prometheus asked, "What test?" โ€

God said, "Don't you have the power of 'foreknowledge.'" If you can predict the names of the 50 superpowers chosen by God thousands of years from now, you will pass the test. โ€

Prometheus said worriedly, "God, I am afraid that I will not be able to predict what will happen in thousands of years, please be merciful, and do not be difficult for me!" โ€

However, God has 'withdrawn' from the body of the blind poet Homer. In the valleys of the Caucasus Mountains, God's last words echo: "You have a long time to do this." While you're being punished, try to make the most of your abilities. If you can't even pass this test, the competition will be even more brutal in the future, and you won't have to participate in the ......"

Thus, Prometheus's millennia-long punishment and ordeal began. The day he was freed from bondage and pain was the end of civilization in this era.
