Chapter 11 Absorbing People

A certain urban area, slums.

Clouds obscured the starry sky, and oppressive darkness shrouded the catch. The dark alleyways are narrow and compact, and the garbage that no one cleans up is piled up at every corner, filling the air with a strong stench. The dimly lit streetlights flickered from the aging wiring, and the cold wind passed through the dilapidated buildings.

A team of well-trained agents silently infiltrated one of the buildings, making their swift and agile ascent up the dilapidated staircase. They all wore black combat uniforms with the iconic eagle emblem of S.H.I.E.L.D. on their sleeves.

The team was laid out in the hallway on the fifth floor. Grant Ward, a Level 7 agent with a straight face and a bushy stubble on his chin; Melinda May, a female agent who once held the title of "Iron Rider", is an operational expert. These two were the highest-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agents present and were the team leaders in charge of the operation.

The two of them stood guard at the door of the room number 502, and the paint on the old wooden door was almost peeling off. The two agents silently communicated with each other with gestures and eyes, counting down the preparations for breaking down the door as several muzzles pointed at the old wooden door.

Ward reflexively kicked the door, and the wooden door fell down with a scream, stirring up a thick layer of dust. He raised his gun smoothly and standardly, and the flashlight shot a golden path of light through the flying dust.

There was only one room behind the door, and the room without the lights was pitch black and empty. There was only a desk, a computer, a large wardrobe and a simple wooden bed that had not yet been made.

Ward swept around with his flashlight to make sure there was no one, and walked in first, followed by Agent May. Their tactical boots creaked at the aging wooden floor.

"It looks like we're a step late." Ward turned to May and said, "Creel is gone." ”

Agent May frowned, but didn't answer. Still holding her breath, she slowly explored the tiny room with the beam of her flashlight.

Just as her flashlight was about to move to the big wardrobe, the "wardrobe" actually moved! Or to be more precise, something attached to the outside of the wardrobe moved. The burly shadow swooped forward like a wolf lurking in the darkness, and the swirling wind stirred up the floating dust into a whirlpool.

It's Carl Creel, a superpower codenamed "Absorber". He transformed his body into the same material as his wardrobe, clinging to its surface, like a cunning chameleon.

Perhaps someone leaked the news, and Creel knew about their visit in advance.

Ward and May reacted quickly to dodge, but the agents behind them were not so lucky. Like a bull in the bullring, Creel knocked the two agents into the air and flew out of the room and into the hallway.

The rest reacted quickly. They raised their guns in tacit agreement, and the intertwined nets of fire quickly covered Creel. But in the same second, Creel's skin switched to a clear diamond state, and countless bullets splattered from the diamond skin with a scream, and the deflated and deformed shells spilled onto the floor.

Creel had apparently had the diamonds for the change of form on his body, and the guns and ammunition had no effect on his diamond-like skin. Creel punched the team with three punches and two kicks, and his brute force was so great that the agents had no chance.

Agent May reflexively struck Creel's left arm with a reflexive spin kick, but unsurprisingly, the Absorber, who switched to a diamond shape, didn't move at all. He turned, and Diamond's right arm poked out like a poisonous python and grabbed Agent May's throat. With a force of his right arm, he lifted Agent May off the ground with ease, and with a flick of his arm threw her out, crashing through the peeling wall and tumbling into the next room.

In just six or seven seconds, the team that burst into the room was left with only Agent Ward. At this time, Grant Ward, an operations specialist with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s seventh-level clearance, showed first-class agent qualities, he was in danger, and his quick reaction was short to dodge the straight punch that Creel hit in front of him, and the pistol was raised from the bottom to the top, and the barrel of the gun was pointed directly at the opponent's jaw. The trigger pulled, the gunfire flashed, and the bullet bounced violently on Creel's indestructible diamond jaw, but the impact also shook his head back involuntarily.

Unfortunately, this is still not enough to do enough damage. Creel quickly adjusted, slammed Ward's pistol away with his palm, and slammed his massive fist into his Celestial Cover, the diamond's skin reflecting a brilliant glint in the street lamp that filtered through the window.

Ward reacted and slid a sliding shovel past Creel's side, the diamond slamming down on the floor he had been on half a second earlier, smashing a bowl-sized gap.

Agent Ward adjusted his feet, and with his rich experience in martial arts, he dodged two punches in succession, and at the same time slammed the opponent's waist ribs, back knees and other joints with his hand knife and springing legs, but they only hit the rock with little effect.

Creel grabbed him in a sluggish moment, grabbed him by the wrist, grabbed his arm and threw Ward out of the way. Agent Ward slammed into the wooden bed on the side of the wall in the room, the bed being smashed in two from the center.

Ward lay on his back in the middle of the collapsed crumbling bed, the pain like a thousand sharp needles hotly stirring the nerves behind him. But Creel clearly didn't want to let him breathe, and the big man grabbed him by the throat and lifted him off the ground and slammed him against the wall. Walls fell from the ceiling in a clump of ash, and the whole room seemed to shake.

Creel pressed him against the wall, but instead of being a killer, he approached and asked in a deep voice, "How do you know I'm here?" ”

The pain seemed to intensify, and the pressure on his neck made him almost suffocate. Grant Ward gritted his teeth, almost squeezing out between his teeth and said, "Chasing your ...... Body odor? ”

Creel's eyes flashed with a fierce light, and his hands increased at the same time. Intense pressure squeezed Agent Ward's throat, blocking his airway and threatening to kill him.

Ward's consciousness began to drift, and for a moment he felt like he was dead. But Carl Creel's movements suddenly stopped, his pupils contracted, the strength of his hands involuntarily relaxed, and the whole person staggered back two steps. Ripples began to appear on his skin, which had switched to diamond form, and then began to transform wildly uncontrollably. His skin switched back to rubber, to wood, and then back to diamond, like a Transformer.

It's Agent May. She stabbed a cylindrical complex instrument in Creel's back. The electronic suction cup at the end of the cylinder was firmly attached to Creel's body, and the device rotated at high speed, and countless particles poured into Creel's body along the suction cup like an unstoppable stream of water, destroying the original balance mechanism in his body and disrupting his superpower of absorbing transformation.

Creel let out a low cry of pain and fell to his knees. Without hesitation, Agent May flew up and kicked him in the face, sweeping him to the ground and fainting without moving.

Mei let out a long sigh of relief and stretched out her hand to Ward, who was sitting against the wall, "Are you okay?" ”

Ward grabbed her outstretched palm and struggled to stand up: "I can't die." ”

The two of them glanced at Creel, who was unconscious on the floor, and both couldn't help but feel uneasy.

Ward crouched down and scrutinized the device that had crippled his abilities in Creel's back, "This thing works. Fitz developed? ”

May shook her head: "No, Coulson said that it was specially distributed for this operation. But it doesn't matter who designed it...... I think we owe him a life. ”
